Sweet, cute story with plenty of light moments and interesting characters.
Cait is a strong-willed woman but not to the point of being annoying, and that is something I like in heroines. She has trust issues when it comes to men, mainly because one broke her heart not long ago but also because she’s tired of being treated like a witless person just for being a woman. I liked the way Daniel treated her from the beginning. He had an easygoing personality that didn’t clash with Cait’s strong one. If anything, I think they brought out the best in each other and complemented each other flawlessly. The one thing I didn’t like about Daniel, and as usual this is a personal preference, is that I like my rogues to be more roguish in action and not so much in description. He spent too much time smiling wolfishly and winking wickedly but other than that he wasn’t much of a rogue. That being said, I liked how they took their time to know each other and how the pace of the relationship felt real. I was glad that even though there was an instant attraction, neither one of them rushed into anything. As a side note, there are no graphic intimate scenes in case you were wondering. Just a peck here and there and some harmless flirtation, nothing more.

Other characters helped moved the story along but to be honest, there were times there was too much going on and I felt I needed to read the other books (which I haven’t read yet) to understand better what was going on. Thankfully, that was later remedied when all knots were tied, so I think I can safely say this can be read as a standalone.

I received this book at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher

I received a free ARC from Netgalley.

I really enjoyed this Regency romance. The heroine was different because she was from Bermuda and yet her aunt was a duchess. While she has good intentions, she gets into situations that could have been prevented if she thought ahead. The hero is sufficiently roguish with being crass. He is helped along by good friends to grow in character.
There might be another book before this one. Her sister is getting married and had a few bumps in her courtship. A villain from her story plays a part in this one.
The story is told from three viewpoints. The focus isn't on parties but rather finding a girl from Bermuda that grew up with the heroine.

Cait and her sister Corinna are in England for their eldest sister Cara's wedding. Cait can't understand how Cara could possibly give up living in Bermuda where the women own a salt business to live in dull grey and wet England. As she is in London she promises a friend back home that she will check on his sister who is also her good friend, Iona. They haven't heard from her in an age and are worried. I don't want to tell too much of the story, but let's just say that her search for her friend ends up with her climbing out of a window and onto a tree, a tree under which stands Lord Daniel Westham.

Daniel is not the marrying kind, especially not since he has seen how his friends have been jilted and hurt. He has the reputation of a rogue, but is he really that bad? He is positively bemused when he watches Cait shimmy down that tree especially as he'd have struggled himself, yet she did it with ease and in skirts! From the minute they set eyes on each other there is an instant attraction. It's one that grows the more time they spend with each other, which they end up doing because Daniel vows to help Cait find her friend.

Cait wants to go back to Bermuda and doesn't want to find herself falling for Daniel. Daniel's place is in England and he doesn't want to marry anybody ever, does he? Can they have any kind of future together when there will eventually be a whole ocean between them?

This was such a wonderful yet quick read. I love the Beckett sisters, and I especially love a particular matchmaking Duchess! Daniel is a real sweetheart and I love how he wants to look after and help Cait. He is a real hero! Although there were some sad moments in this story, for the most part, it was a lighthearted feel-good novella which I really loved. It was quick paced and full of wonderful characters. I think that the ending was a little abrupt, but I am hoping that we will hear a little more about Daniel and Cait in future books in the series.

How did I miss the other books in this series?! I love this author and am always rewarded by spending some time in the worlds she creates. Once again, I was not let down in the slightest. Cait is absolutely wonderful in this book and Lord Daniel is her perfect match in every way. Whether he's rescuing her from trees and bawd houses or ex-fiances and overly crowded ball rooms, he tends to find himself in almost as much trouble as she does. Not only did I find myself laughing at their antics, with her incredible writing, I also found tears falling down my face. It takes a lot to get that type of reaction from me. If you're looking for a fabulous historical romance to whisk you away from your every day drama, this is definitely one you should consider picking up. Now, I just have to track down the other 3 books in this series!

Thanks so much to Ava Stone, NetGalley, and Night Shift Publishing for allowing the chance to get lost a little in this world and share my thoughts and opinions with others.

Caitrin Beckett is in England for their eldest sister Cara's wedding, but she’s also made a promise to a friend in Bermuda to find his sister whom he hasn’t heard from for quite a while. During her search for Iona, friend’s sister, she finds herself at a brothel trying to escape. The heiress drops out of a tree in her haste to escape the brothel and she comes face to face with Lord Daniel Westham and instantly catches the rogue’s attention. Daniel luckily decides to help her and the two grow closer. This is a sweet friendship that develops into a smolder romance. Caitrin has trust issues with men, her fiancé broke off their engagement and she finds it hard to take the rogue serious. This is my honest opinions is resolved to build a school for ladies in after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.

Caitrin Beckett, one of the Beckett Salt hostesses is in London for the wedding of her sister, Cara. One of her friends from her home in Bermuda asked her to look in on his sister who works in a dress shop. Cait goes to the address of the dress shop but it turns out to be a brothel. When she goes inside, she is mistaken for one of the girls. She escapes thru a window by climbing down a tree. At the bottom of the tree, there is a Lucien, her friend from her hometown and Lord Daniel Westham. Lord Daniel is known as a rouge who likes women, a lot. There's another side to him. He has a young niece who adores him. While taking taking his niece for a ride thru the park, he runs into Cait and her Godmother. There is a spark between Cait and Lord Daniel. Her Godmother notices and a matchmaking plan is implemented. As Daniel tries to help Cait find her friend, she confides that Charles Ballentyne jilted her for a girl with more money. She confides things to Daniel that she has told no one else. The attraction grows but she knows that she could never live in England. I love the Beckett girls. They are fun and spirited. Love these books and Ava Stone. I received this book from Net Galley and Night Shift Publishing for a honest review and no compensation otherwise.

The series continues and the three Beckett sisters who lived in Bermuda are all now in London. Cait and her sister Corinna have arrived to attend their eldest sister's wedding. Cait had promised a friend back on the island that she would check on his sister and her good friend while there. That should be simple, right? Well definately not when she ends up meeting Lord Daniel Westham as she is climbing out a window, a window in a brothel no less! Daniel was a great hero with his soft heart and he is definately intrigued by Cait who is so outspoken. Daniel agrees to help her find her missing friend but seems to end up rescuing her from many places! You will find yourself laughing out loud at some of their antics.
This is a novella that can be read quickly but you will enjoy the adventure and attraction as it builds between these delightful characters.

What better way to start a story than by having the heroine escaping a brothel but climbing down a tree and landing at the feet of the hero? You know the story can only get better from there. Such is the case in How To Tempt a Rogue Without Really Trying, book 4 in Ava Stone’s Heart of a Heiress series. Trust Ava Stone to keep you laughing, cheering, and wanting to smack the characters and this one is no exception.

Another very enjoyable read from the author. The story flows effortlessly & the characters have plenty of depth . Cait & Daniel are very likeable, their attraction is immediate but she’s going to return to Bermuda to run the family business & he’s no intention of settling down. Their verbal spats are highly entertaining, the secondary characters are also delightful especially a matchmaking Duchess, I look forward to Corinna’s story. My only quibble was that I was left wanting more

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

The Becket sisters have been running their father's business since his death and will do anything to keep it going. Caitrin isn't your typical miss and when she drops out of a tree in front of Daniel, he is instantly smitten. Caitrin has no intention of staying in London. It is dirty and smelly and she really misses the Bahamas. Daniel has no intention of getting mixed up with any young miss but there is just something about Caitrin. Daniel is Caitrin's knight in shining armor and Caitron is the ideal woman for Daniel. Daniel realizes that life is short and he doesn't want to live without Caitron. Will she feel the same way?

Twitches do not a romance make.

I picked up How to Tempt a Rogue without Even Trying by Ava Stone because I thought the title was amusing. Not being familiar with Ava Stone’s writing and always on the lookout for a new author, I thought I’d give it a try. After I finished the book I was left with a vague sense of dissatisfaction and I wasn’t quite sure why. So, I had to do some pondering – some examination of my reaction. While I was pondering I did some checking of her website. She seems to have been publishing books since 2011 and by my count she has released 25 novels and 12 novellas. That is not counting all the contribution to anthologies she’s done. That’s a lot of writing, pondering, editing, and developing in seven years. I also found reference to “new adult” books as part of her repertoire. While I don’t have a problem with teen/young adults/new adults for teens, for myself, I like a little more mature, seasoned narrative. But I was determined to finish this book.

How to Tempt… was pleasant enough, and there were even parts of it which reminded me a little of the old Signet Regency books. The big difference between this story and a Signet was most Signet characters were fully developed. How to Tempt… had the feel of a short story. Then there were the Twitch Teases.

Now, I am not really sure where I was, or what book I was reading when I first encountered the manly “twitch” of a hero’s willy-wanka-doodle, but the term “twitch” seems to be used quite a lot lately in Romanceland. Usually it’s an indicator that there will be more hubba-bubba action later in the story. I guess that will show me not to expect something based on a lifetime of reading romance. There was no hippidy-hopping in this story. In fact, there was hardly any kissing. I found this odd considering our hero had two Mr. Toad-willy-dink twitch episodes. And yes, I counted them. Oh no, no, no, I did not keep track of them while I was reading. The twitching did not throw me out of the story, but at the end of the story I remembered them. Why would one remember two Mr. Toad-willy-dink twitch moments? Well, I’ll tell you. After I finished reading the book it dawned on me that they just didn’t fit into the narrative. I had to ask myself – why were they there? They didn’t blend with the rest of the story. They were glaring in their presence in the story line and they definitely didn’t make the book anymore sensual.

More pondering. I’m an old-school romance reader, I’ve read traditional Regency stories which didn’t even have one kiss, let alone a twitch. But, what a whole lot of those old Regency books had was a strong sensual atmosphere built between its main characters. Shall I name some old authors from Signet? Mary Balogh, Patricia Rice, Anne Stuart, Eileen Jackson, Edith Layton, Barbara Metzger, Joan Wolf, Sheila Walsh…I could go on and on. Some of those authors are sadly no longer with us, but some of them have gone on to bigger things. All of them have one thing in common – they could write fully-developed characters with oodles of sexual tension and nary a single twitch in sight. And, it’s the twitches in this story which finally solved the mystery of what my issue with this book was.

I analyzed my reaction to How to Tempt…, and then it dawned on me. I felt as if I had just read a high-school literature project. It was as if someone had been told to take all the elements of a romance and put them together. A formula. And, you know, I dislike intensely that romance books are often accused of being all formula. All books have a formula, a beginning, an ending, a puzzle being solved, a vampire sucking – all formula. However, this story didn’t seem to have any substance behind the formula. I don’t know, maybe it was written for younger readers – maybe they would appreciate it more than I did. All I know is when I opened it up I was expecting one thing and I got something else. Sort of like opening a package of M and M’s and getting Good and Plenty instead. It’s a shock to the system. And now I ponder some more.

More pondering. When I was growing up my reading habits were never limited to my age group. I always read books beyond the ones specific to my age. I found books created for my age group to be boring. I even remember reading Peyton Place when I was eleven, and that was definitely not my age group. Did it warp my outlook on life? Don’t think so. Did I understand everything in the book? Nah, but I asked my mother. Did my mother yank the book out of my hands? Nope. She never once discouraged me from reading beyond my comprehension or my age group. And finally, I just quit reading books which were age appropriate and I have never looked back. I’m not sure why I’m saying this, except I don’t always understand the reason behind age appropriate genres, especially for adults. Wait a minute! Maybe it’s not the age appropriateness which bothers me, maybe it’s the stories and characters which are not fully developed which is the problem. I guess, bottom line, even if the books is for teens/young adults/new adults, they should have fully developed narratives. So, I’m done digressing.

For me, this book was middling. It wasn’t fully developed, the characters lacked chemistry, and it had an incomplete, rushed feel about it. And the Romanceland standard twitching Mr. Toad winkee-dink-doodle didn’t add anything to the story. The completeness I have come to expect in my romance books was not there.

Kobo +. Mad About Series Challenge HRBC, 2024. 5th in the Regency Heart Series. Novella.
In this story and the 4th book, the tie in with the first three was Michael Beck. His brother in law is the evil Lord Chopwell a Baron married to Michael Beck's sister.
The MC's in this romance are: h Caitrin Beckett, 2 daughter of Samuel Beckett of Beckett Salt mines in Bermuda. H Daniel Westham, second son and brother to Duke of Lindthorpe.
I gave this 4 stars.

This was such a sweet and romantic story.
Caitrin “Cait” Beckett is in London for her sisters wedding and though she loves her sister she longs to be back home in Bermuda. When she left for London she promised a friend she’s look up his sister who he’s not heard from for a while.
Daniel Westham while out for the evening with his friend meets Caitrin when she literally drops from a tree in front of him. Intrigued by the beautiful hoydon he must get to know her. Needing to find out more about Cait, Daniel seeks her out and she persuades him to help her find her friend. The last thing he wants is for her to fall from anymore trees.
Not looking for a future Daniel and Cait spend more and more time with each other and begin to depend on the other. Daniel sees Cait as a strong, smart and loving woman not the fragile one her family says she is. Daniel may be a rogue but he is Cait’s night in shining armor and she will not believe he is bad for her reputation. With the secret help from aunts and a little give and take, Daniel and Cait just might realize their future can be more then they dreamed of.

Ava can write a sweet book that is still full of passion and tension like no other. The moment she came face to face with him I knew they were going to be a fun couple. There was an instant connection between them that everyone could see. I was not expecting the ending to her search for her friend. I loved how they could understand each other and tell their secrets. I also didn't expect what made him realize he loved her.

Caitrin has no plans to live in England or let her heart be broken again. She wasn't afraid to do anything and could take care of herself. I loved her right away because she wasn't going to sit in that room and wait to see what happened.

Daniel will melt your heart with how he is with his niece. He enjoyed the way he lived, but that changed when he met her. I loved that he didn't put on an act and even with his reputation everyone loved him.

How to Tempt a Rogue Without Really Trying by Ava Stone is book Four in the Regency Hearts Series. This is the story of Caitrin Beckett and Lord Daniel Westham. I haven't yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Caitrin is in London for a sister's wedding but they live in Bermuda, which Caitrin loves it there. While in London Caitrin is looking for a friend from childhood that no one has heard from. Caitrin meets Daniel and their is a instant attraction to each other. Daniel doesn't plan on marrying anytime soon after witnessing his friends attempt at marriage. But there is something about Caitrin that he can't seem to resist. It doesn't help that she seems to find herself in some predicaments he has to help her through while looking for her friend.
This was a cute enjoyable read!

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was delighted to read the story of another Beckett sister by Ava Stone. I enjoyed the first book about Cara and this one is just as good. All of the books that I have read so far by this author are quick reads that keep my interest from start to end. The story has romance, strong, independent, smart, female with an alpha male who recognizes and appreciates those traits in her, some intrigue in this story, and of course an HEA.
I am not one to retell the story as so many reviewers do. I find it beyond irritating when someone tells the story even if they give a spoiler warning, and if I want a synopsis I can read that from the back cover or description about the book.
I recommend this book and am looking forward to reading the story of the third Beckett sister Corinna.

I didn't like this one as much as the others. (More a 3 1/2 stars) Things seemed a bit rushed to me. Cait was a lovely heroine who could care less about society and more about her family. We didn't see her making any friends outside of her family. Daniel was a "let the good times roll" kind of hero. He was constantly being warned by his friends (her family) to stay away from Cait, yet no one stopped him. He was constantly thinking about what he wanted to do with her, yet never acted on any of it except a light kiss on the lips while helping to find her friend. I loved Lucien and hope he gets his HEA. There were no real bad guys in this story so the story just flowed without any issues. It was a light quick read with a HEA. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy.

I really enjoyed this Regency Hearts book by Ava Stone!!! Her humor is fantastic!!

Book 4 gives us Caitlin's story! She is in London with Corinna, for their sister's wedding, but also, to search for her friend's sister. She hasn't written to him in some time and he's worried. Finding out the return address is a brothel is one thing, but getting locked into one of their rooms is too much!

While trying to escape, Cait meets our hero, Lord Daniel Westham. There is an instant attraction and he can't help but start to fall for the smart, strong fiesty woman!

The antics these two get up to are so much fun and I enjoyed the supporting characters as much as the heroes! You will want to check out this story!!

I really liked this. I enjoyed reading this story so much I read it in one sitting. The characters are quite likeable. Lord Daniel is not the typical rogue; he has a soft heart for his family. He's intrigued by the unusual Miss Caitlin upon their first meeting. She is quite daring, willing to go to great lengths to help those she cares about. Although there are some sad aspects - Caitlin's missing friend and two jilts - there is much amusing banter between the many characters made up of family and friends of the h and H.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Caitrin and Daniel. Cait makes her own way and doesn’t care about London society at all. She would prefer to be home in Bermuda running her late father’s business. Daniel is a rake not looking for love, but it finds him anyway when he meets Cait.

As good as the romance are all the other relationships in this book - I especially love Daniel’s relationship with his niece. The story kept me captivated and it was hard to put down. I look forward to the last Beckett sister getting her HEA.

A lighthearted romance with characters you will absolutely like. The story and the romance progress naturally and the end comes quicker than you realize. The Rogue melts your heart, especially when he is with his niece Hannah and you feel sorry for him a bit as all his friends think the worsted of him. There were a few slight typos, but nothing distracting. I enjoyed this so much I'm going to hunt for the other stories in this series.

I quite liked this quick clean regency romance. There were some funny moments and the H&h worked well together. There were a few areas/situations that seemed underdeveloped IMO that if fleshed out or continued would have added some tension to the story. Overall, a good story with interesting characters. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

I really enjoyed Caitrin and Daniel's story! Caitrin is determined to find out what happened to one of her childhood friends. This determination leads her into many scrapes. Daniel helps her out of the first one and ends up being led on a merry chase by Caitrin. There were many twists and turns that kept me on my toes and enthralled till the very end. It was a great addition to Regency Hearts series. I've really enjoyed this series and hope that Stone has more stories lined up for it!

Lord Daniel Westham hardly believes his eyes when he spies Miss Caitrin (Cait) Beckett escaping from a brothel by climbing down a tree. He's never known such a brave and beautiful woman and soon he's spending most of his time with her. Cait has no interest in a London season or marriage but she does enjoy Daniel's company and steady presence. Will she remain in London with her sister or return to her home in Bermuda and what about the attentions of Lord Westham?

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for an ARC; all opinions are my own.

This was a quick, sweet read. It didn't have enough steam for me, but I enjoyed it and breezed right through it. Caitrin is the second of three daughters, all salt heiresses, and in England from Bermuda for her older sister's wedding. Upon arriving there and attempting to retrieve an old friend from Bermuda, Caitrin meets Lord Daniel, second son and brother of a duke. He agrees to help her locate her lost friend and they rapidly fall in love, despite Daniel's poor reputation, roguish ways, and his friends warning him away from her. The ending felt a little rushed for me and everything came together very rapidly, but it wasn't enough to put me off. All in all, this was an enjoyable read, if perhaps not a very memorable one.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Three sisters come to london from Bermuda to fight for the rights to salt on the Turks to keep their business alive. This is the story of the middle sister, Caitrin.
Cait , while in London, is looking for a friend, who's family hasn't heard from her in months. She enlisted the help of Daniel Westham, 2nd son of a duke.
Cait has a tendency to get herself in trouble and Daniel is her knight in shining armor.
This is a cute story but I felt it could have been more. It seemed like it was just getting started when it ended.
