A service dog, a disabled veteran, an ill father, a missing best friend, mafia and FBI... What a vacation for Riley!
It may be a sweet love story, but Riley doesn't have time for that, while she anxiously tries to find out what happened to her bff.
This story keeps you on edge from the beginning. Well written!
I received a copy and chose to review it.

The Gold Coast Retrievers series has the dogs as companions in various capacities, each book written by a different author. We met Josh, handsome SEAL with a hearing impairment, in Saving Sarah as the inn keeper. Charlie is his companion, assisting with sounds and notifying Josh. His cousin has gotten into a bit of trouble at the same time her friend, Riley, is in town. Although it's billed as a sweet romance the heat is definitely there. Alexander writes exciting suspense novels and kept me intrigued the entire time. I received an early copy and my review voluntarily.

Well I must say that I enjoyed this book. I was lucky to receive an ARC and enjoyed it. Seeing Josh and Riley play detective and falling in love without dating......HOT ..... hot ex navy seal and a hot wedding planner what more do you need. Include kidnaping, missing best friend and you have the makings of Rescuing Riley.

Rescuing Riley gets to the heart of every book addict. Alexander entices with romance, thrills with danger and appeals to the mystery lover that I don't often give free reign. Josh and Riley also face off against some painful truths about humanity, society and wounded warriors. Add in an adorable unsung hero like Charlie and the stage is set for an incredible tale of faith and courage.

A fantastic small town romantic suspense!!

I loved this!!! Josh and Riley won my heart, not to mention Charlie!!

Josh is a disabled veteran, he lost most of his hearing and has a limp. He has a Golden Retriever named Charlie, who is his service dog and family. They live in California with his dad, who is suffering from ALS.
And he runs the Redwood Cove Inn for his father.

Riley is a wedding planner in Boston, but is going to California to visit her best friend, Liza, who is Josh’s cousin.

When Riley arrives, Liza is missing. Josh and Riley work hard to find her, but run into trouble.

This book is so great! It’s a heart-pounding stand-alone, small-town romantic suspense filled with angst, action, intrigue, and a love story that promises a happily ever after!!
I highly recommend it!!

Rescuing Riley: The Gold Coast Retrievers book 2 by S.B Alexander
This is the second book I’ve now read in The Gold Coast Retrievers series, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it, as much as the first book, Saving Sarah by Melissa Storm. I’m a lucky girl to have been given the series to read, especially as I am stuck in bed with asthma and all I can do apart from trying to breathe is to read! Having great books to bury myself into make days and nights pass much easier. This novel is about a pair of female best friends meeting up for a week long holiday together. So much fun to enjoy as they both live so far apart now. However, Riley is left waiting at the Sacramento airport after her flight delivered her safe and sound from Boston, with no sight of BFF Liza to be seen. Her brother back in her home town, was extremely concerned for Riley, wanting to get a flight and join her. He was at a boarding school where he taught so not at all able to take time off. Outside the airport looking for her friend, Riley was feeling hot and bothered the longer she waited for at least a text from Liza if she was too busy to call or come. Eventually Riley took a taxi to the Redwood Cove Inn, which was run by Liza’s family in San Francisco. Her cousin Josh an ex Navy Seal worked there with Liza’s Uncle, and Liza enjoyed helping work there a few days a week. Riley had seen photos of Josh and looked forward to seeing him in all his perfect handsomeness in the flesh! So far she was worried about no word from Liza but at least she had a backup plan that soothed her brother Ross. She promised to call as soon as she arrived at the Inn, and so this adventure begins! Oh I truly enjoyed this book and although I was given it, the review is entirely my own. I’m now about to begin on Guarding Grace: Gold Coast Retrievers book 3 by Ann Omaster. I just know I will enjoy all these books. The dogs in them are adorable.

I don’t like mafia-books

I did try though!

Oh, I was so excited when I started this! I’ve read two other books in this series and they were both amazing!!! And I already knew Josh and Charlie a little bit from book 1 and I couldn’t wait to read his story! But…

I just didn’t like it… The book started with reciting all the facts. Yes, I do know background information is very important. But here the facts of not only Riley’s life, but also of her bestie Liza’s life, were just summed up. Not a great start. Maybe the author should have let the story develop itself a bit more. Not try and force it so much. You know, ease me into the story. So, the book was already one nil down.

And then I found out this book is about the mafia… And I really, REALLY!, don’t like books about the mafia. That wasn’t in the blurb. Two-nil.

Furthermore, the quality of writing wasn’t the best. The writing style was sort of distant; I just couldn’t FEEL it, it didn’t enter my heart. I did like Josh’s POV better than Riley’s. Charlie helped a lot, although the cuteness factor could have been higher. To be honest, I skimmed through some parts of the book. There wasn’t much to hold my interest. And Riley and Josh together didn’t convince me. Their spark didn’t transfer to me. Three-nil… three strikes and you’re out… Sorry, I don’t mean to be harsh…

Riley flies from Boston to San Francisco to spend a long weekend with her best friend, Liza. Upon arriving at the airport she gets a phone call from Taylor, Lisa's assistant to go to her cousin's inn and she would call her later. Joshua loved being a Navy Seal. But when a mission goes wrong, he is left with no hearing in his left ear, limited hearing in his right, and a limp. He has a service dog named Charlie, who makes his life easier. As soon as Riley walks into the inn, she is befriended by Charlie. Riley is surprised and confused when her best friend disappears. While Riley and Joshua are putting together the pieces into Liza's disappearance, Riley disappears. Can Joshua save the woman he has fallen in love with and his cousin before it's too late? Will Riley survive her captivity to see Joshua and Charlie again?

This was a good book and I enjoyed it. However, there were questionable scenes. In fact I kept asking myself if this was a clean book. It's the type of book which would have been considered trash in the 1970's. While it has no bedroom scenes, it gets very close. Also, for a Christian book it has absolutely no mention of God. It mentions praying once or twice.

I was given a copy of this book and this my honest opinion.

Wedding planner Riley Lewis flies to California to forget her cheating ex and hang out with her bestie Liza but ends up staying with Liza's handsome cousin Josh when Liza gets stuck in a meeting and can't come pick her up. Joshua Bandon was discharged from the Navy SEALS after an explosion damaged his hearing and now manages his dad's inn. Josh hasn't met a woman who makes his heart skip a beat until the beautiful Riley walks into the inn. Riley and Josh soon realise that Liza's missing and team up to find her. Riley starts falling for Josh but isn't ready to get her heart broken again because long distance relationships never work. Josh starts falling for Riley and wants her to stay so he plans to woo Riley as much as he can and let her know how he feels. When Josh finds out Riley got kidnapped by the people who are the reason behind Liza's disappearance, he comes up with a plan but will it work?

S.B. Alexander delivers an intriguing, suspenseful and sweet story that will have you glued to your seat.

Riley Lewis, Boston wedding planner, flies to Northern California to visit her best friend Lisa. Red flags pop up immediately when Lisa can’t pick her up at the airport and keeps putting her off meeting up. Ex-Seal Josh Bandon with service dog Charlie runs his family inn in Redwood Cove and is tasked with taking care of Riley and offering her a place to stay while they wait for Lisa to show up. He’s almost deaf and deals with PTSD from his experiences in the military. When Riley and Josh realize Lisa’s old boss who is being tried for activities involving organized crime may be after her, they race to determine her whereabouts before it’s too late. I thought Riley was little too casual about everything. She wasn’t panicking that much about not getting in touch with Lisa and when she’s kidnapped she giggles even though she knows the people holding won’t hesitate to get rid of anyone who can identify them. Also even though there wasn’t any sex in this book there were several sexual references, which makes this not as clean as I was expecting.

Rescuing Riley is the second book in the Gold Coast Retrievers Series. This is a multi-author series published by Sweet Promise Press. All books published by Sweet Promise Press are "clean books" with interesting storylines. In Rescuing Riley, we find Riley Lewis, a Boston wedding planner, taking a vacation to Northern Californian. She is going there to see her best friend, Liza, who moved to California a year ago. Riley expects Liza to pick her up at the airport; unfortunately, Liza never shows up. Needless to say, Riley's vacation isn't turning out the way that she planned.
The Gold Coast Retriever in the story is Charlie. He is a service dog for the deaf. Charlie is Josh's , Liza's cousin, companion. Josh is a hunky ex-Navy Seal who was injured while serving in Afghanistan.
Rescuing Riley is a really good book. I consider it to be more than just a romance, since it contains several mysteries and a lot of suspense, Of course there is romance, too. I think that anyone that likes romantic suspense would enjoy reading Rescuing Riley

Rescuing Riley was a fun and exciting adventure - even if it seemed a little over the top in the unrealistic realm of things. When Riley comes to visit her best friend Liza and finds out she’s disappeared, she is set on finding her and figuring out just what the heck is going on. But Liza’s cousin, Ex-Navy SEAL Joshua, along with his service dog are supposed to keeping an eye on her.

There are tons of roadblocks along the way, including an annoying assistant that never seems to tell the truth. And when Riley repeatedly runs headlong into trouble even though she’s warned not to - I started to get a little annoyed with her too. If the SEAL and the FBI are telling you it’s dangerous, then you might want to listen to them.

I enjoyed some of the story, and didn’t enjoy the rest of the story. I’m glad I read it because the Gold Coast Retrievers is a great series, and I love how the characters connect with each other from book to book. I just wish I could have liked this one a little bit more.

Where is Liza, where is Riley?
In this story there is suspense, romantic angst, and mystery. Riley travels to California from Boston to visit her best friend. They have plans to visit all the sites and catch up on their friendship. Alas, Liza is nowhere to be found. From the get go Riley knows something is wrong. Her friend wouldn’t just desert her. Her cousin, Josh, was smitten as soon as he laid eyes on Riley and the two of them tried to solve the mystery of what happened to Liza. But as luck or (bad luck) would have it, Riley got caught in the middle. Not only the police were looking for her but also the FBI and the mafia. A nail biting experience. I’m beginning to like Sweet Promise Press stories as they publish sweet, clean stories and I can feel confident that when I pick up one of their books, I won’t have to worry about bad language, explicit sexual content or otherwise uncomfortable actions. There was, however, lots of romantic angst. Oh, and there’s Charlie, the sweet golden retriever service dog belonging to Josh. A good story I can easily recommend.

This is the second book in the Gold Coast Retrievers series. The author gives us a great book centered around Riley Lewis, her friend Liza, Joshua Bandon and his service dog, Charlie.

When Riley makes a trip from Boston to California to visit her friend Liza, little does she know the adventures that would enter her life. Liza has disappeared and her cousin, Joshua Bandon, a former SEAL, along with his service dog, Charlie, meetRiley and together they work to find Liza. Kidnappings, and life-ending threats lead them to discover things about themselves they thought were in the past. Will they be able to overcome those past events to allow the possibility of new relationships in their lives?

This was a very enjoyable book. I would highly recommend it to those who love to read clean romance and adventure books. I received an ARC copy of this book from Sweet Promise Press for my honest opinion.

The second book in the Gold Coast Retrievers series is Rescuing Riley by S.B. Alexander and makes you love Golden Retrievers all the more!
Riley comes to visit her bestie in Sacramento from Boston but finds Liza detained. Josh ran the Redwood Cove Inn that his family owned and was a former Navy SEAL who was hurt in action. Josh had a service dog, Charlie, a golden retriever, who helped in Josh with his hear that a bomb had taken away when it exploded on a mission. Love at first sight was the case for Charlie...with Riley. Between getting to know each other and trying to find out where and what happened to Liza the three go on a adventure of mystery, intrigue and love. Finding the bad guys and rescuing Riley, Liza and Taylor was all in a day’s work for former the Navy SEAL and his loyal companion Charlie.

Rescuing Riley is the second book in the fabulous Gold Coast Retrievers series, it is also a perfect stand alone story. Riley does not get the fun week she planned when she travelled across the country to see her best friend. She does however get Joshua and his incredible service dog Charlie. This book is beautifully and sensitively written with great characters and a good storyline. Romance, drama, action and Charlie ... a wonderful combination and a gripping read. I was delighted to discover that although the theme of these books is the Gold Coast Retrievers, the books themselves are very different. I can't wait to meet the next dog and his people. I definitely recommend this book, and series.

This book was intriguing to me! The focus is definitely on Riley but when she flies out to Northern Calif. from Boston on vacation to visit her best friend, the intrigue begins because things just aren't right! Riley's best friend, Liza, isn't there to pick her up at the airport and suddenly she isn't ANYWHERE! Riley meets Liza's cousin, Josh, and together they try to find Liza, along with Josh's service dog, Charlie. I loved this little "band of detectives" - Riley, Josh and Charlie the dog!! They had each other's back even though they didn't know each other. This was a suspenseful story but had romance too. I enjoyed Josh's dad also. You will enjoy finding out what is behind Liza's disappearance! I would recommend this book!

The second Gold coast retriever story features Charlie as a service dog for former navy seal Josh, who lost most of his hearing in a bomb blast, and still suffers flashbacks. When his cousin's bestie, Riley, arrives from Boston for a visit, she and Josh discover Lizzie is missing and set out to find her.

This is a great mystery. It has romance, action, women of indomitable spirit and suspense. Characters are well developed, settings involve all the senses, as sight, sound, smell, and touch give a vivid experience. Although the mafia is used as the antagonist, I would not call it a mafia story any more than I would call it an FBI story. They are just minor parts of the plot. The focus is on the connections being forged by Riley, Josh, and Charlie as they search for Lisa. I loved it

Bringing Riley and Josh together to find Liza whetted my soul's need for suspense that I had been missing lately. Watching how they worked together warmed my heart. There was action to make the blood start pumping and tender moments to oooh and aaah over. Mysterious events keep you wondering who would be the bad guy while keeping you on the edge of your seat. Charlie gives off that undeniable feeling of warmth that we all get when a lovable pet is involved. A dog is a good judge of character, and Charlie lights up when Riley comes into Josh's life. This slow burn leaves you with a happy ending, just what is needed after all the excitement.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review. Riley goes to California to visit her best friend Liza after she breaks up with her boyfriend. But Liza doesn't meet her at the airport as planned, and from there on things heat up. Riley ends up staying at Liza's cusins B & B because she never connects with Liza. Riley and Josh feel a connection when they meet. They start looking for Liza while the feelings grow. Josh's service dog Charlie agrees with Josh where Riley is concerned. I loved this book and highly recommend it.

Love in Midst of Crisis

Riley is excited to take a break from her wedding planning business in Boston to visit her best friend Liza. When she arrives at the Sacramento Airport showcases and waits for Liza but she never comes. She finally gets a call from Lisa's assistant saying Liza is in a meeting answers her to go to Redwood Cove where her cousin Josh is. The story gets quite exciting as it becomes apparent that Liza is missing and Josh and Riley feel sparks whenever they are together. The mystery gets very exciting and keeps you in the edge of your seat. Very good read.

Although these books each stand alone, I can see that the theme tying them all together is the Golden Retrievers who all come from the same breeder in the town. I enjoyed this book even more than the first one. It has a mystery involving Riley's best friend, Liza, who she has come to see in Redwood Cove. Liza mysteriously disappears on the day she is to pick Riley up at the airport. Her cousin, Josh, picks her up instead. This is definitely a page-turner! I love books where some of the characters appear in other books, but each book stands alone and has a conclusion. I look forward to reading more in the Gold Coast Retriever series!

Love at first sight wrapped up in one heck of a mafia mystery. When we first met Josh in the previous book, I was instantly intrigued. A hero in (or out) of uniform is as good as catnip to me. I was in awe at the way Josh handled all the hardships life had dealt him and how me managed to still be a mostly upbeat person in spite of it all. Overall, I liked Riley, but her insistence on running headlong into danger at every turn frustrated me a lot. However, when she did get herself in over her head, she was a fighter and I admired that about her.
