After surviving the roller coaster of events lately along with the pressure of angels asking her to save the world, Soraya Devil has decided to use the upcoming tribunal as a chance to cut loose, as she’s in desperate need for some spring break type fun. Meaning she plans to drink too much, make some bad decisions, and have lots of sex… Even for her.
A lot goes into swinging such an event, and she adds her normal flair to it all while still being annoyed with the investigation of a human murderer trying to frame supes for the kills. With this new wave of anti-supe sentiment, she and the coven are nervous that Chicago is becoming a place they don’t recognize.
But trouble of a dangerous sort decides to rear its ugly head at the worst time possible and risk the life of someone she cherishes. It explains her recent feelings of doom and gloom, though the question still remains—will she be enough to stop what’s coming?
The Enchantress is a fast paced ride of sexy fun while balancing the needs of her coven, police investigations, work, supes, and the world that wants so much from her and still trying to move on from the past to find the love we all deserve.
Erin is a born Chicagoan who decided to state hop a bit, given she works from home. She currently resides in Georgia with her pup, Lord Vader Flynn. With an eclectic and addictive personality, there isn’t much that doesn’t interest her or she won’t pour herself into if it catches her fancy. She has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal.
To date, she has published more paranormal books than she can keep up with the characters for, in different genres with dedicated readers who await each release to her numerous series under any of the three Flynn names she writes.
Like with Seraphine and House of Garner, I feel like this series is too focused on unemotional, exhibitionist sex. I'm no prude, but I prefer Tamsin by far. Hunt's relationship to Soraya makes me a little cringey. Just not really my thing, but I'll probably keep with the series.
I adore Erin Flynn. I think she's an amazing writer with riveting storylines. Do I sometimes get a little annoyed with the repetitive ranting about her political views, (even though I tend to fall along the same lines) and the overwhelming sexism that pops up practically every other page? Yes. But still, I have read every single Erin Flynn series she has written, and I have either loved or at the very least enjoyed them all. She is one of the very few authors that I read immediately on realase instead of waiting until the whole series comes out, because I just can't wait. Shes honestly just THAT good.
Until this series. Pretty much nothing about this one is working for me. Instead of checking the page count constantly in dread of the book being over, I'm looking forward to it. I keep reading the series hoping it will get better, because I love the premise and again Erin is AMAZING, but they actually seem to be getting worse. I'm really just not feeling Soroya's character at all, I don't feel the same connection I usually feel with her other heroines. It seems like all she does is pop up somewhere and fix this hugely overwhelming problem with the snap of her fingers, and then go have sex with 3-5 NEW people for the next 20 pages. I mean I get it. Women can have all the sex with as many people as they want, and be as overly sexualized in dress and manner but then still get offended when people dismiss her as just being a slut. Being sexualized doesn't diminish her power or capabilities but it does distract from them and I'd be saying the same thing if she was a man. I think that's my main problem with her actually, if you look at Soroya if was written as a man she would be almost everything she usually rails against. ▪︎Overly sexual towards ever male she meets, (but it's okay because every man that sees her immediately wants her or starts having dirty thoughts about her) ▪︎often dismissive to people she meets ▪︎enacts revenge spells against people she feels slighted by ▪︎is CONSTANTLY having sex and Ted's to use it almost as a weapon against others ▪︎thinks she is the greats freaking thing in all the worlds (after all she is THE Entrantress) And now to top it off ▪︎is physically abusive when shes upset with someone/she's having a bad day
On a side note, it also bothers me how demeaning and degrading she is towards the people she has sex with as well. And her constant need to reaffirm and brag that she's absolutely the BEST sex they have ever had gets really tiresome really quickly.
This book had the final straw for me. Twords the end of the book she encourages her "dog" to have fun with other women (something she has previously done several times already) then beats on him afterwards because she's upset over it.
"“Go fuck another bitch offering you blow jobs and pussy, not mine, you asshole,” I shouted and slapped him across the face. He didn’t back off, so I did it again. And again. And again. He kept letting me slap him long after my hand throbbed."
This was so over the line for me that I was shocked when I read it. I mean are you freaking kidding me?!?! Every single one of her female characters across all of her series are so anti abusive relationship (borderline judgmentally so) in any type of way that I am truly shocked and a bit sicked that she has the female as the perpetrator in this book. But hey, it's okay because she's had a hard day and he did something to upset her so really it's his fault and if anything he should be punished more. I truly can't fathom that she would write that and then not even bother to make soroya repentant or even freaking regretfully. It's ridiculous an makes me freaking done with this series. Am I don't with any of her other books or writing Erin off completely? HELL NO. Again she is amazing and so far so are all her other series! Just because one isn't working for me specifically doesn't mean that all her other books are any less awesome.
Book four is an extremely intriguing addition to the series. It was interesting to see the tribunal, and I enjoyed meeting the other elders. I found their interactions with Soraya, her coven and even their own people to be exciting to read. The revelations that occur with Soraya and her family threw me, and I'm curious as to what will come next with them. For some reason it felt a little bit too easy. The Mayor and the murders occurring in Chicago were a good side story, and it was interesting to see how Soraya dealt with them. I adored getting a better insight to Brax, and I’m really interested to see what he’s like further on. As usual, Hunt’s complex relationship with Soraya was a major part of this book and I’m really loving it. He’s such a complicated character, as is Soraya, and I can’t wait to see how Erin continues their life. Victor, Andrew, Walter and the nest of Acients had a better role within this book, and I’m intrigued to see if we’re going to get some redeeming aspects to them. Overall this was another amazing addition to the series and I can’t wait to read book five. Erin is an absolute goddess, and the world she has built here is amazing. Also, once again I adored the bonus chapter and I love that these are used to give us extra character development for not only our main girl, Soraya, but other characters as well.
Good/great series - I'm flopping around those 2 descriptions
I have read one series as the books come out and was iffy at first with how they were written. Come to find out, it was just the 'character flaw' the fmc had. After that I decided to try a few others to see if writing style was the same or different.
I will say I do enjoy the enchantress series. I gave a 4 star as there are a couple of minor spelling errors that don't pertain to the language used. Like 'passion and fever' when it is supposed to be 'passion and fervor', as an example. Yes, I did do a "report content error" for text misspells to be reviewed by it doesn't really take away from plot or content.
The only writing style that is the same in what I've read so far are the writers morals and values between the series. That is not a bad thing as I am of the same beliefs.
Anyone who reads Erin's books should bare in mind that not all writers are the same and (example from the last book on bad reviews given) I believe Erin is a fantatic writer. Keep it up. Hopefully Soraya shares the spell to block the distraction and Noise with you, lol. Does she have one to block teen/adult children who like to act like toddlers and bicker constantly?
Definitely read the series if you want some steamy fun, and don't forget the extra chapter at the end!! It is great info to help see how Soraya got to where she is now.
This book was just as good as I was led to believe it was going to be. However not all the scenes lived up to the hype. We all know that books follow a plotline and deal with resolving conflicts within that plot. We all knew that Soraya was going to take on her father. I was honestly expecting more Darth Vader and less Adronis. I was expecting a battle or even a magic fight. But all I got was restraints and death faster than lethal injection. He wasn’t the only one to die. Thank god for that. Some of those assholes really needed to be on that chopping block. “I had more to say but was caught off guard by a thought from one of the other...” “I sneered at the man. “No, I’m not still a virgin, you sick git,” I snapped. “I’m over a thousand years old. Of course I’ve had sex. That’s what you immediately think of? That you’ve got a chance at my virginal power?” I snorted. “That boat has long sailed.” I moved closer to him, letting him see all that hate I felt for him. “Aren’t I too old for you?” I nodded when he gave me a shocked look. “Yes, I remember you, you sick fuck. “I remember you telling me at ten that I was ready for your bed and you would make sure to buy me from Father soon. That you would love me and my body until I got too old.“ Turns out Soraya, as always, has way too much to do and not enough time on her hands. Like giving a huge population a complete overhaul.
“Victor gave me a relieved look. “I realized you might not know how many other Warlocs there are, and we found them here trying to nick everything of magic all the way to the silver.” “And I told you, leech, that I’m the oldest surviving Warloc male and it’s all mine since Nicholas didn’t have a son,” my uncle sneered.“
I know what she said to Victor and his Nest, but she just can’t shake them loose no matter how hard she tries. It was kind of funny that the English Governemnet wanted to get them for tax evasion. Over 1000 years of it.
““England has not caught up to the US in the laws for supes. Before we were so well known and more than myth, we did a lot of sneaky everything to stay under the radar.” I gave a slow nod. “Yes, I remember you selling the estate to each other for next to nothing.” My eyes went wide. “Tell me the government hasn’t come calling to collect that bill?” I let out a whistle when they both nodded. “Bastards. You’ve done more to save them at times than their whole military.” “But there’s not a paper trail to follow on that,” Andrew grumbled. “That has got to be one fuck of an interest on that bill too,” I muttered, worried....
The Species Elders all got to see some of Soraya’s businesses. And the problem children in charge of each farm/plantation got his ass chewed out by their species elder. She even let them borrow enchanter power like Hunt. Needless to say they were impressed, exspecially since a few of them tapped out, one fainted, and an entire group were leaning on the nearest surface trying to catch their breath and not to vomit.
I love this series, it happens to be my favorite by this author. There are a few editing issues but nothing huge as it doesn't impede the reading. I've gotta say I'm surprised how well the Hunt situation has turned out, I never would have expected that from when he first came into the book. Plus hunky angel Brax and we have a winner. I'm also happy that some of the secondary characters are on their way to a hopefully happy ever after, anybody that works that hard, is as loyal, and that great of a person deserves it. Can't wait for the next book!
Great work by Flynn (as usual), picking up right where she left off. The major battle scenes felt more rushed than they were in previous novels with the focus really around the relationship building in this installment. I am a glutton for these novels and will still recommend for someone already committed to Soraya's story. Don't forget to check out her series about Dorian, too! Just found out about it today... Elder tribunal for justice is far from a boring court case mixed up with tons of let lose spring break vibes. Saroya finds her revenge and serves up the guilty for judgement and punishments, then finds new ways to protect and serve her coven, supes, and the environment. Another quick witted installment of a week in the life of Saroya -- her magic astounds and her non stop hard work and empathy impress even the most jaded observers.
I enjoyed this series. Was disappointed that it’s not finished, but it’s been good. I did feel like I got lost in the details of her businesses and day to day details. Enough so that it detracts a little bit. I didn’t really get sucked into the story, so I wouldn’t call it a page turner. It was worth reading, but not sure I want to invest more time into future books.
Okay this was a magical crazy ride. Soraya has grown in her relationship with Hunter and Brax. We learn more about the Elders and their world. The confrontation with the Enchanter Elders just wow. This was a definite must read.
Wow, so this author is pretty awesome. She has some strong female leads and this series is pretty amazing. Hopefully there will be more as it feels like a little unfinished
Brilliant and interesting story lines. Erin Flynn can tell a fantastic tale, bring excellent people to help her tell her story, and bring readers flocking to her books. Gary Challenger, Devon UK.
From someone who COMPLETELY LOVES Erin's "Artemis University's" series this is my second favorite series of Erin's. Seriously love it and I hope there is more. I'm in love with all of our characters and how the series just sucks you right in.
I do apologise I got waaaay to excited to find out what happens next and read the next book straight away! I did really love all the scandalous goings on during the tribunal and Holy Shit that ending!!
Still really enjoying this series. I really hope everything works out with Hunt but know there is still a lot more to come! Thanks again Erin for another good book!!
The Enchantress series is still going strong in the forth book Enacting Revenge. I love how Flynn combines toughness and pain in her main characters. It makes them relatable while being admirable.
I love this fabulous addition to this amazing series, I'm loving the main character and all her up's and downs, but I'm hoping for a happier life for her very soon.
I love the twists and turns of this series! There is so much feeling and emotion packed into these books and they are so nuanced! I can’t wait for more!
Thoroughly recommend this author. All her series have strong characters & detailed plots. Genuinely cant put them down until I finish all the available books
