During his life, John Wayne was seen as a beacon of patriotism, manliness and moral conviction, living by a personal code that has continued to resonate 40 years after his passing.
In this new book, that personal code is transformed into practical guidance for readers who want to know how Duke would handle many of the real-life challenges they themselves are facing.
Drawing upon more than 50 lessons pulled straight from John Wayne's films, Everything I Need to Know I Learned from John Wayne provides insights into how to handle dozens of challenges, from managing anger and succeeding at work, to raising children and responding to bullies.
Hundreds of quotes, scene breakdowns and full-color photos provide a glimpse into how Duke put his own personal ethos into cinematic action and how his approach can help readers overcome anything thrown at them.
If you have a John Wayne in your life then this is the perfect book for them! Quotes from all of the roles he played in all of his movies; character analysis and lesson extracted from the obstacles that were overcome. Lots of pictures with lots of other stars - several movies I am going to look for!
I know there are many who will scoff at the title of this book or simply disdain the existence of "The Duke" let alone what lessons his movies may have imparted. To do so in the case of this book results in a serious disservice to the potential readers well-being. The wisdom here can be found elsewhere such as in the bible, in loving parents, or mentors. If any of those sources are missing in people's lives for whom you care or love then I urge you to give them a copy of this book. They will be better for it.
Fun little read if you’ve grown up watching John Wayne. They missed my favorite line from She Wore a Yellow Ribbon ‘ Don’t apologize mister, it’s a sign of weakness.’
Everything I need to Know I Learned from John Wayne: Duke's solutions to Life's Challenges is a compact yet entertaining short read with lessons that most of us know should already know it is common sense and some which may not know yet along with some other valuable insights along with Quotes from The Man Himself and some pictures. It is a hardcover no dustjacket. Overall worthy of my Library.
If you grew up watching his movies, you were fortunate. He was a man’s man and not a coward. He stood up for what’s right, the underdog, and he truly loved America.
