["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>Have you ever read a book or a series of books that had bad plot, was badly written and edited and yet you were addicted to it?
Yep, that’s what happened to me with this series.
Let me start by saying that normally I give two stars to books that I struggled to finish and wanted to dnf it sometime(s) while reading.
But here, that’s not the case.
This book, like the first one, is really bad (in my opinion of course). I can’t even tell you how much drama they both include. It’s like the author thought of every possible scenario that can cause drama and put all of them in these two books even though there’s a third one (I can’t even imagine what that includes) … If you want to get an idea of what I’m talking about check the last one of my highlights of this book (it’s marked as spoiler even if it isn’t but I had to warn you in some way).
And the grammatical errors, don’t even get me started… I mean, I’m not one to talk, English is not my first language and surely my reviews/comments/updates are full of mistakes but we’re talking about a published and edited book. I had a really hard time reading some parts because I was totally confused (because of the errors) and I had to reread these passages again and again in order to understand what the author meant…
It would be unfair if I’d give this book 3 stars and that’s why I opted for 2.
So, the big question is… why do I keep reading the series? As I said it’s really addicting and Stone intrigued me as a character from the very first time we got a glimpse of him. These are the two reasons why I continue reading these books. I’m not sure I can take any more drama but, well, I guess I’ll have to.
⚠ SPOILERS AHEAD! DO NOT READ IF YOU’RE PLANNING ON READING THE SERIES ⚠
First of all, I want to talk about Jasper. I really don’t understand why a person that claims that he’d been in love with his cousin (which he didn’t know of course) keeps trying to get back to her. Of course, you can care deeply about a person, but you can’t expect someone that now knows that she had been intimate with her first cousin to get back to that relationship. I’m not saying it’s completely impossible but surely, not very common. He really got on my nerves…
As for Stone, I knew I liked him for a reason from the beginning! Im not proud of him about what he did for his son, that’s for sure, but until the last paragraph he was the only character I liked in the series.
And now, let’s move on to the heroine. I think she’s one of the most annoying heroines I’ve ever read about. To be honest, that’s probably because there’s no character development for her. In the first book she is presented as a fighter that does everything in order to protect her sister with Down syndrome (which I really liked about her) and in this book almost everything she cares about is her love life. While in the first book she is shy in this one she’s social and daring in her love life. I wouldn’t have any problem with that of course, it’s totally normal for a person to change but in the story there’s nothing that can explain how that happened. As I said, no character development for the heroine, the author just jumps from one personality to another.
Please forgive me for my rant, I don’t do this often and, of course, I don’t want anyone to feel offended by everything I said, these are just my honest thoughts.
(if you think you would enjoy this book, it’s currently free on Amazon Kindle so make sure to grab it)
