Accepted Fate

Rate this book
Summer has begun. One phrase to a west coast kid that means everything. At least for the fortunate. No more schedules, no more school, and no more rules. For most, the parties are nightly, the alcohol never runs dry, and the cars are fast. Me—yeah, not so much. I’m the golden girl. The California sunshine on my face and the sand beneath my feet are just the start. I love my town. I love my life. It’s exactly as I want it. It’s perfect. I have a plan. No boys, no drinking, no sex, and definitely no parties. Distractions are what those are. Only cheerleading. Everything is going as planned. A volleyball changed everything. And suddenly, I’m all too aware of him. Blue eyes. Sweat. Muscle. A smile that makes me nervous. And a southern drawl that doesn’t belong here. He’s everywhere. I can’t breathe or think. When his body touched mine, I had to escape. Then, out of nowhere, my parents ruined my life with two words: we’re moving. And then he shows up at my favorite place. Maybe, just maybe, it’s time to break my own rules. And I know exactly where to start.

I found books when I was going through a hard time in life. They became my means of escape when things got bad. I realized quickly how much I loved to take a backseat to someone else's life and watch the journey unfold. That began my journey with books in November of 2012. I constantly had a book open on my Kindle app. Never in a million years would I have imagined myself as a writer, because I never thought I was creative enough. I'm living proof that things will fall into place when they're meant to be. People will make their way into our lives when we don't expect it, setting the path for what we are meant to do. Never give up on people. Never stop taking a chance on others. Someone took a chance on trusting me with her work when she didn't know me from a stranger on the street and gave me the opportunity of a lifetime as our relationship progressed, which led me to editing and writing as well. This is my dream I never knew I had. As soon as I sat down and gave writing a shot, it was like the floodgates opened. Now, I am lost in a world of fiction in my head, new characters constantly screaming for their stories to be told. Continue to dream and to go for them. No one ever found happiness by sitting on the sidelines. Sometimes we have to take risks and put ourselves out there. Thank you for all of your support, and may there be many books to come. XOXO- C

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC copy from Charisse in exchange for a review and I'm so thrilled I got a sneak peek at this. What a wonderful story that had me running a gamut of emotions fairly early on.

"So many indulge in love hoping to get the fairy tale they see in the movies and books, but that's not reality. Reality is hard, ugly and painful. It doesn't take one with an experienced broken heart to know that's the way it is. Just look around you. You will see pain stricken and broken hearted people everywhere. I just think it's easier to avoid it than try to pick up the pieces after it's said and done."

Once I read that, I knew this wasn't going to be a story of boy meets girl, they fall in love, then HEA...it was going to be a rough road!

I went through so many emotions with this one. Kinzleigh Baker is a 17 yr old who knows exactly how her life is going to play out. She has great friends, an amazing family and has dreams of becoming a pro cheerleader and there isn't anything that will stand in the way of that....especially not a boy. She doesn't date, flirt, zip. Now, mind you, the boys are definitely interested in her, but she is jaded when it comes to love and would prefer to just avoid it than to risk heartbreak. Sad.

Enter boy....Breyson Abercrombie....*swoon*. Yes, I know he is total jailbait, but he is well beyond his 17 yrs of age and he has his sights set on Kinzleigh. Oh man, I really fell hard for him! He's a country boy, very charming, easy on the eyes, respectful....and did I mention he is easy on the eyes? He is similar to Kinzleigh in that he knows what he wants to do with his life....football. He has never put much stock in relationships, and pretty much just reaps the "benefits" so to speak. He doesn't even kiss girls because he doesn't want any emotion there.

These two wind up meeting at the beach and from that moment, they both knew their lives were changed. Kinzleigh is hesitant at first, but she can't deny this pull she feels towards Breyson and soon she gives in. I so enjoyed watching these two discover each other and process these new feelings, unexpected feelings.

"I can't describe the feeling I have with her body touching against mine. Peacefulness maybe. I've never wanted to be this close to a girl before, aside from sex and that's just long enough to get off and get her dressed. For the first time in my entire life, I actually just want to be near her and do nothing but talk to her."

The sex scenes were steamy and hot...but I love the moments when we are reminded that Kinzleigh is only 17 and is embarking on this journey on womanhood, coming into her own. It's truly wonderful to see, I loved it. They both let their walls down and opened their hearts up to each other and are realizing that things don't always go as you had planned, but you just accept it and embrace it. The way Breyson was with her, how he treated her with so much respect, love and honesty...it really got me.

"You're my entire world girl. I don't know what you're doing to me but I can no longer survive without it. You better get used to me because you're stuck with me as long as you allow it. Those deep green eyes are hypnotic, placing me in a trance each time you look at me. They are the first thing I think about when I awaken and the last thing I see before I go to bed. You've caught the uncatchable."

Charisse really did an excellent job capturing all the moments, big and small, to make this story truly engaging. I experienced sadness, joy, frustration, anger...all of it. She got me sucked in from the get go and had me wanting to know from one minute to the next what was going to happen. The supporting characters were all great as well. Preston...keep an eye on him!! He's swoon worthy too! That ending,....I won't say anything, but I will see, you won't see it coming! I can not wait until the next book and will most definitely read more from this author! She's got a fan in me...

"I'd rather fight with you everyday than be perfect with someone else."

LOVE this!!

Official Trailer!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PC5yz...

I finally reach the end and sit, placing my legs over the side, but because of my height they do not reach the water. The night begins to replay through my thoughts. I can't believe everything I've worked so hard for is crashing down around me. Being squad captain of one of the top 5 squads in the country guaranteed me a spot on almost any college in the country. Even if this Hicksville town, Mississippi has a cheer leading squad, will they even have room for another cheerleader? Do they even compete? Now, I'm going to have to work harder just to get a tryout at the colleges I'm interested in.
Why would my parents just pick up and move us when I have one year of high school left? How do they expect me to just leave everything I know behind and start over? I have friends here, family, that has to mean something to them. This isn't fair. Maybe I can think of a way to stay behind. I just have to. My parents have got to understand what this will do to me. I just want to wake up and realize this is all a dream. All I can do is stare out at the ocean, lost in thought.
All of my emotions finally catch up to me and the tears start to fall, heavier this time. I can't stop them anymore. I don't know what to do. Everything was going great in my life and now the misery is about to begin. I don't even try to wipe the tears away anymore, I just let them flow. I don't understand out of all the states in the continental U.S., why my parents have to choose some po-dunk town in Mississippi. I can't imagine the kind of people that reside there. After that big hurricane, Katrina I think, they had people walking around barefooted and missing teeth. Do they even have shopping malls and designer clothes, I wonder, or is it full of trailer parks and cow fields. My stomach turns at the thought.
I'm not sure how long I've been sitting there, staring at the water, but my back is beginning to hurt and I'm growing tired from crying, but the tears continue to fall. I should just go home and go to bed, but I'm not ready to face my parents yet. I lay back against the pier, looking into the sky. Its dark, but the sky is clear. There is not a cloud for miles. It's beautiful glancing out at all the stars, shining brightly. It's also a full moon tonight. A strange peacefulness begins to wash over me, causing me to close my eyes. Clearly my mind is not in normal territory, because I would never close my eyes late at night on a public beach. There are too many creeps out there.
I couldn't have been laying there but what seemed like a few minutes. I must have dozed off when, "Mind if I join you," flows through my ears in a deep, raspy voice. My eyes pop open and a tall familiar face is standing over me, looking down, with a smile on his face.
I begin to panic and sit up in a hurry, embarrassed. Embarrassment is a rare trait for me and this guy has brought it out twice in one day. "I'm sorry, I don't usually do this, it's been a bad night." I look back out at the water, gripping the side of the pier, as if the most beautiful boy isn't standing behind me. Right then, I can feel his breathing on the back of my neck, quickening my heart rate. In the short time, he has managed to squat behind me, the inside of each knee resting against my side.
He begins to whisper in my ear, "May I keep you company for a while? I'll be quiet if that's what you need." His breath is so light, it tickles my ear. I can barely breath, let alone speak, so I just nod. My head is fuzzy and I can't think when he's this close.
He sits beside me and removes his shoes, placing his feet in the water. I'm finally able to exhale the breath I've been holding. "How long have you been here?" I turn and glance at him, to find that he's staring at me. I don't know where this guy is from, I don't really care, but he's gorgeous. I never take an interest in a guy, it's one of my few rules, but following rules have gotten me nowhere, obviously. I'm not thinking clearly anyway, I guess I can break my rule and enjoy his company for a while. He is leaving soon anyway and right now I need a distraction from all this bad news.
He reaches out slowly, as if he's afraid I'll run away, placing his hand over my cheek, rubbing his thumb underneath my eye, freeing it from the wetness of the tears. Great, I have no idea what I look like right now. "I needed to clear my head and came to the beach, I saw you standing by the water earlier, are you okay?"
My eyes close at the warmth from his hand. I should be mad he followed me, but I can't. I just want him near me, but no personal questions. I don't need him to know me or what makes me tick. I don't need any complications. I open my eyes to him staring at my lips. "Can we just exist together without trying to obtain personal quota? Let's just enjoy casual company, two people needing nothing from each other. Clearly you're not from here, meaning you'll be gone soon. I'm not one of those girls that needs or wants to know everything about you nor do I want to spill my entire life to you. We don't have to pretend with each other, lets call this what it is. Can you do that?"
He just stares at me as if he's trying to figure me out, like I'm a book full of secrets. He seems lost in my eyes, amused, confused, I don't know. We sit there staring at each other as if we can't pull away. He doesn't say anything, just bites his lip as if he's trying to answer his own question, or to make a decision. I'm about to get up and walk away, when his other hand reaches behind my neck, pulling me closer. His lips stop in front of mine, close enough to touch, when he whispers, "Beautiful," and crashes his lips to mine.
His lips are so soft and full, but needy. His warm tongue slips through the opening of my lips, requesting entry. Our tongues taste, touch, and dance together. A moan, barely more than a whisper, escapes my lips. I run my hands across his arms and up his neck, into the back of his hair. My heart is beating wildly. Foreign emotions are running through my body. I have never felt this need before, but it's as if my body needs more. Suddenly, I feel like I need to cross my legs from the spasms down below. What is he doing to me? What does this mean? He turns, laying me against the pier. He has one hand on my waist, the other beside my head, holding his weight above me, like when we were at the beach. He continues to kiss me, taking my bottom lip into his mouth, lightly sucking. He makes a low growling sound from his throat. I'm not sure why until I feel his need pressed against the bottom of my belly, making my eyes go wide from surprise. Oh no, I can't go there. As if he can sense my panic, he stops. He kisses me one last time softly and releases my lips.
He looks me in the eyes, a smile growing across his face. He brushes his fingers through my hair, down my arm and grabs me by the hand, interlacing his fingers with mine. "Nothing personal huh, I think I can do that." His lips brush mine quickly before he moves back to his spot of the pier, pulling me by my hand to sit between his legs. "I promise I'll be good for the rest of the night. I've just wanted to do that all day."
I'm completely and utterly speechless. I have no idea what I'm doing. I never do reckless or unplanned things like this. I have no idea who this guy is, really, and now I'm sitting on the pier making out with him. I really need to get my head back in the game. I always think everything through before I make a decision. Being around him takes away my ability to process. Right now there are so many unknowns, but what I do know is that I'm not ready for it to end just yet.

Must start off by saying the cover model is a perfect match as Kinzleigh.

I have a bit of weakness for southern boys and their their charm so Breyson charmed the socks off me ♥

At first I was a little concerned that Kinzleigh is so cynical about love but at the same time I admire her dedication and commitment to her life goals . But I have a feeling our southern boy is going to change this!

Presley and Kinzleigh  are a perfect example of how opposites attract . The girls have been friends for most of their lives. Presley is vivacious and outgoing whereas Kinzley is studious , serious and keeps her emotions in check so much so that  she may come across as cold . Presley is good for Kinzley ,I think she takes a bit of the edge off her.

Now that I've covered the basics lets get back to the story ....

It's summer break which means fun, sun and parties for the kids in Calafornia ! On the first day of hitting the beach and catching rays Kinzleigh meets Breyson and the chemistry beteeen the 2 of them is obvious ! Breyson is determined to get to know her better.

Kinzley goea to a family dinner where her parents drop a bombshell which is devastating for her :'(

She  goes to her thinking spot on the pier to process the news . Whiles she's there she gives in to her emotions.Breyson notices her distress and goes to console her.  The way he approaches her and deals with her had me melting on the spot ! * feel like a cougar for admitting this*

Breyson and Kinzleigh share a very intense and passionate kiss.  Kinzleigh's first kiss actually!  Damn this boy has me wishing I was 17 again LOL !

So their relationship blossoms and Breyson is so gentle and patient with her ♥but we have the local hussy Lexi lurking in the background ,at a party she made the moves on Breyson and he turned her down . The saying goes hell hath no fury like a woman scorned ,well  now she's bent on getting her own back by causing a rift between our love birds :O

Lexi very nearly managed to break them up but good old Presley saves the day by telling her the truth and they're off to the airport to collect our sothern gentleman . Breyson lays into Lexi and gives her a good talking down and she deserves it damned hussy !

OMW ! OMW! O -M- W !!! Kinzleigh uses my favourite saying " This boy is dangerous to me ,like kryptonite" I'm alwaus using this term to describe my eye candy.

Then it happens our southetn boy had worked his charm  !! Kinzleigh goes from kissing no boy to craving it !! * doing a happy jig*

Not having the heart to see Breyson off at the airport ,Kinzleigh sends a letter with Presley baring her soul ♥

3-2-1 ....snot fest starts !

Moving day comes and Kinzleigh heads to the cemetery to say goodbye to her gran , what an emotional episode and bam the watet works are open , I'm starting to think I need shares in Kleenex after this weekend's reading .

Kinzleigh meets her new neighbour after I nearky choke on my cuppa with excitement but I can't elaborate on the next few chapters , it'll spoil it  but what I can say  is keep the kleenex close ....

A very jealous, bitter and twisted ex girlfriend nearly kills Kinzleigh fortunately she makes it and there's no lasting damage caused. What a relief !

The last few chapters shattered my nerves and definitely not what I was expecting , you could slap me with a dead fish and call me Dixie , what a plot twist! A major snot fest :'(

I must admit I find it hard to believe this is Charisse's first novel ! A definite ★★★★★ read! I can't wait for " Twisting  Fate" to be released.

Accepted Fate is Charisse Reid's debut novel and I have to say this totally stuns me.
 photo Breysonteaser_zpsedb8c34b.jpg
This book is so beautifully written you would expect she's been writing for years. The description and emotions in this book are beyond words. She has a way with words that will draw you into each character's life as if they're real and staring you right in the face. This book will make you feel things you can't control. It's so easy to feel the emotions rolling off the pages as if they're your own. These characters are very unforgettable. Breyson. All I can say is the love he feels for Kinzleigh is enough to make your heart ache. He's sexy, sweet, tender and rough at all the right times. He will do something to you that will have you thinking of him for days. Kinzleigh is a sweet, caring girl determined to stay away from love, but with Breyson in your life, it's impossible to keep those walls up and not let them cave in. Reading the story of their journey is absolutely beautiful and unforgettable. Not to mention, everything in this story from the actions to the dialogue seem to feel so real as if everything is really happening. It made me feel like a part of these character's lives.

This book is one that you definitely don't want to miss out on. Breyson will make your heart pound in your chest with just his words and never forget him. Don't miss out on this beautiful story. Charisse Reid has really proven herself with this debut novel. Don't forget to look for the rest of this series coming soon in the near future.

I usually like story's that I can see the relationship grow but this book was way to long I just wanted it to finish.

The story started off with guy meets girl, guy leaves girl to go back home, girl ends up moving to guy's hometown. It started off like other books but with the girl moving to the guys town that was different.

The cliffhanger was a bitch what the hell is going to happen in the next book. HE BETTER BE ALIVE

This book (series) is so underrated. I'm surprised it's not a hit, bestselling series because it's the classic teen romance. The plot is so simple, not much actually happens, but there was never a dull moment & I felt that there was action on almost every page. I almost feel like anyone could have written it plot-wise, but it was also so good at the same time! I don't know how to explain, you'll see what I mean if you read it.

The author seriously needs to start diversifying the names of people in a family. Kinzleigh & Konor, Preston & Presley, Briar, Braxton, & Breyson...like please

I don't get why all these other girls were like Kinzleigh is perfect...everyone wants to be her. When she wasn't even popular and only had one friend. Her personality wasn't even that great NGL. She also had major Virgo energy from the organization to the clean freak. I've also never read a character more uninterested in romance and love than her. I was like damn, this author is CYNICAL...or at least writing super cynically for being a romance author!

What do you do when everything you had planned out for yourself gets changed in one summer? Do you embrace the new or fight to keep things the same?

For seventeen year old Kinzleigh everything was going just as she always planned. She had great friends, went to a school she loved, and always knew she was destined for greatness. One step already completed towards acquiring the job she has forever dreamed of, a pro football cheerleader. Nothing and no one was going to stand in her way, especially not love. What she doesn't expect is for her parents to suddenly change everything and send her spiralling into a life she didn't want for herself, especially after meeting one blue eyed boy she can't stop dreaming about. Her life is changing at every turn. She is learning that sometimes life has different plans than our own. When she finally accepts the hand fate has dealt, everything is ripped from her once again.

Can she accept the ugly fat that was chosen for her or will she fight to once again accept it.

First I would like to say thanks to Charisse for giving me an opportunity to read her ARC.

Where to start?? I had to wait a few hours before I could start to even think about writing a review for this book, to get my emotions in check my head on straight and wipe the tears and whatever else was off my face.

Unexpected feelings, happy, sad, annoyed, wanting to bitch slap a few characters, love, overwhelming and as I said above ugly crying from the likes I haven't done since reading Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder.

This is Charisse's debut and what an awesome debut it is.

We first meet Kinzleigh Baker she is cheerleader and knows what she wants to do with her life and nothing will get in her way especially not love. She has her reasons someone close to her was hurt by love losing someone so she closed off her heart and emotions to everyone but her family and close friends. She doesn't date even though everyone wants her and they try and try but no one breaks through the cage around her heart. At times I felt sad for her that she didn't want to experience that even though she only seventeen not everyone meets there soul mate so young but they do have some fun but she has her head screwed on and it ain't coming loose anytime soon.

I loved how independent she was striving for what she wants, but even though she and her family are well off she doesn't seem it throw it in your face. Her best friend Presley is awesome, she is the total opposite to Kinzleigh she is outgoing, loves boys and sex. They balance each other out and have being friends since they were babies as there mums are best friends.

One day Presley drags her down to the beach for some fun there are a bunch of boys some she knows others she doesn't not that it interests her. Then bam volleyball smacks her in the face and here we meet the swoon worthy, southern blued eyed hottie who is totally on of my book boyfriends Breyson Abercrombie.

Breyson, Breyson, Breyson.. what is there to say? Gorgeous, football player, country boy, southern manners, and those blue eyes. He is similar to Kinzleigh in the way he also doesn't believe in love and therefore is a man whore, player however you want to describe him. Maybe it's his southern upbringing but you fall in love with him straight away. He is in  California to visit his cousin Ryland. (Can I just put this out there I love the names of the characters, so therefore if I have another baby you are naming it Charisse!!!)

They meet and Kinzleigh starts having this feelings not love but maybe call in interest in the opposite sex which has never happened to her before.

It was so much fun watching these two beautiful people come out of there shells and take a chance, it isn't easy along the way, there are obstacles, people trying to break them up but also the feelings they have like I said they both don't believe in love so to watch them grow and go through it together was beautiful.

Charisse pulls you into the story you just keep turning that page to see what will happen next but also to see what is going on with the secondary characters, I loved them all her family, his family there friends with the exception of 2 people I just wanted to slap them and tell them to BACK OFF!! It is detailed all the way through the looks, clothes, feelings it feels like your watching a movie. there isn't a dull moment through out the whole book it captures you and your stuck with nothing to be done but finish the book to see what happens.

You all know what happened to me at the end!! The ugly crying and I mean it was ugly haven't done that in such a long time I was messaging Charisse near the end freaking out because I knew something was going to happen but no idea what until your there and GOD DAMN!!! The ending is original which I loved but it rips you in half and leaves you lying there broken, and wanting more, which is the best feeling you can have reading a book. This one makes you feel every emotion and its the best feeling in the world. I can't wait for book 2 to come out and will be keeping an eye on Charisse for any little bit she throws our way, I recommend this book with my whole heart it's a must read .

"Does it take everyone that long?" Her face flushes at the question.

I glance at her lips being sucked in between her teeth. I love how her innocence shows. I meet her her eyes with my own.

"Only if you're dealing with a real man. A real man cares about the pleasure of his woman and not his own. A real man waits on his woman to be satiated before he is himself. A real man holds out as long as necessary. Only a boy is concerned with his own pleasure being met."

5 Overwhelming, Beautiful STARS

I developed a passion for reading I never would have imagined a year ago when I started reading through the kindle app on my iPad. Any chance I have free time and I'm not with my daughter or husband I have a book in my hand. With the help of a fellow author friend, Victoria Ashley author of Wake Up Call I discovered I want to edit romance books. I am currently writing my first book, Accepted Fate hopefully to be released in February 2014. I absolutely love writing and editing. I owe a special thanks to Victoria.

I am so happy that I was introduced to the lovely author, Charisse Reid. Ever since being asked to beta-read her first fantastic novel Accepted Fate, Breyson and Kinzleigh have become a new favourite fictional couple of mine. I read Accepted Fate chapter by chapter and loved each and every part that Charisse sent to me. I feel privileged to have been allowed to do this and to have been trusted enough by such a fantastic author. Thank you Charisse, for allowing me to be part of your incredible journey. It has been an absolute pleasure.

There were many, many things I loved about Accepted Fate. The first thing that I always find endless amounts of enjoyment in, is when a story is written in dual point of view. I love it even more when it is dual point of view and first person. There is something sneaky and satisfying about being able to read from both character's points of view. Accepted Fate is written from Kinzleigh's (main female character) and Breyson's (main male character) perspective. It's brilliantly slotted together, creating a smooth, easy-flowing read that is impossible to put down. The constant change in point of view ensures the turning of pages and it also allows you to get a glimpse of emotion from the female and male side which is always exciting I think!

Another thing I adored was Charisse's incredibly detailed descriptions of outfits in Kinzleigh and Breyson's story. Honestly ladies, Charisse should be a fashion designer. Every outfit that her characters wear is placed right there into your mind perfectly. It really is out of this world and makes imagining the story playing out in your mind a million times easier. Every character is described to you clearly and precisely and I couldn't help but marvel at how well put together each chapter is.

The relationships between many of Charisse's characters are well-built, incredibly developed and completely believable. There are a lot of characters to take into consideration even though the story switches between just two viewpoints, but Charisse manages to portray other character's feelings and emotions through their actions and facial expressions. As the main plot-line develops, so does the relationship between Kinzleigh and Breyson, creating a story that completely and utterly blows your freaking mind.

Charisse's main female character Kinzleigh is truly hard not to love. She's an all-American girl. Her dream is to become a pro football cheerleader and she fits the bill perfectly. She's blonde, she has a perfect body and let's face it, she's practically every guy's dream girl. What I love about Kinzleigh is her determination. She is a girl who holds her dreams high and isn't afraid of going after them, which I love. When things get thrown upside down, Kinzleigh really doesn't know what the hell to do. Charisse has chosen an absolutely perfect title for her first novel, and it is totally appropriate. Overall, Kinzleigh was adorable, completely lovable, and one hundred percent believable.

Moving onto Breyson, who is Charisse's main male character, let's just say it's kinda' hard not to fall head over heels for this guy. Breyson is caring, loving, kind, yet he still has that bad-boy attitude that we all secretly love. What I adored about Breyson most was his feelings towards Kinzleigh. There is nothing I love more than seeing a guy lose his sense all because of one lady, and that is what happens to Breyson. He's cool, he's laid-back but he knows when he wants something, and he definitely doesn't like to share. His muscles and sexy mouth are absolute winners with me. I loved him. Absolutely loved him.

I think Accepted Fate has everything that a superbly addictive novel should have. Drama, romance, naughtiness, attraction, chemistry, characters that you can't help but to love and smooth, perfectly paced plot line that well and truly keeps you hooked. I have given Accepted Fate 5 twinkling gold stars on Goodreads, and it is also receiving 10/10 from Becca's Books!

Again, thank you Charisse, for allowing me to take part in such an incredible journey of yours! It's been absolutely fantastic and I'd do it again and again and again.

Wow, I cannot not even truly explain how I feel right now. This story was absolutely beautiful. For a new author Charisse has gone beyond any expectations I could have had. She displayed her characters with a grace that can only from her heart and created something that was breathtaking and continues to leave me wanting more.

Kenzleigh Baker, she's a cheerleader, sister, daughter, best friend, and an all around sweet girl with morals and goals that no one can change. She doesn't want to get involved with anyone, she just wants all of her dreams come true. But, fate takes a turn for her and as much as she fights it (and damn the girl does) she just cannot help but let her heart go and just pray nothing happens. I loved watching her character develop, she's not your usual young and naive teenage girl who's bitchy and boy crazy. She like an old soul and even though she has to be one of the most difficult girls on the planet, you have to respect her for not giving into society and peer pressure. The whole book is kind of her journey in becoming a women but still staying on track, she has tons of hurdles to face but takes each one on delicately always having a good head on her shoulders and MOST of the time thinking before she reacts especially to catty girls. When she met the country boy at the beach and then her life changes forever you get every feeling detailed perfectly to take you with her and her man where they need to go.....

Breyson Abercrombie, just love his name all by itself! He is the ultimate sexy country boy, down south we make our men hard, gentlemanly, and absolutely football beasts. That that is exactly what he is. Not one to ever want to fall in love he's always kept his "hook ups" to unemotional attachments. Even on the beginning he has a girlfriend but there's absolutely nothing there. Everything in life has a reason though and his just happens to be the green eyed beauty at the beach. Breyson isn't a douche that you would try to make him Out to be he's very honest with what he wants. He and Kenzleigh start out as being two people wanting to spend time together, but after time and the an unexpected change in life they become the very thing neither of them was looking for. Brey took my heart, not from the beginning as one may think, no he grew on me, not every sexy cowboy just gets the goodies, lol, he became this amazing guy and showed a part of himself that was truly amazing to read. Just like Kenz, this story was about his growth as well and it was amazing to read.

Charisse took details that not ever author can perfect and made this story her own. There maybe plenty of New Adult romances out there with a similar plot to this one, but none can even compare. I'm still wiping tears trying to figure out what to do now?!? I have to wait and see what happens just like the rest of you but I'm author stalking until then!

Amazing!!

WOW WOW WOW!!!!

EVERYONE BUY THIS BOOK NOW!!!!

I have just spent the day with this book, I restarted it as had some things going on that had me distracted, but from the second I sat down with this book today I was lost in it.

Charisse Reid is a new Indie Author and This is her debut novel, This Author is one to watch for sure….This book is a must read and will take you on an emotional roller coaster in one of the most beautifully written love stories I have read.

After one book I know I NEED Charisse and her writing in my life!!

Accepted Fate Is the Story Of Kinzleigh Baker and Breyson Abercrombie…It follows their journey of a coming of age love story, Kinzleigh is a beautiful girl with a heart of gold but a heart that she has put walls around to protect from the hurt life throws at us, She is ambitious and has her life plan all set into place, Kinzleigh doesn’t want to fall in love or let herself be loved and vunerable as she feels that she will only end up hurt. That is all set to change after a chance fling with Breyson, Breyson is every girls dream man…He is gorgeous, caring, loving and thoughtful. After they meet an amazing love story follows as Kinzleigh learns through Breyson that it is OK to let down the walls around her heart and learn to live. I don’t want to give any spoilers as this book is a must read and the reader should really take this journey with the characters. What follows though is a heart wrenching, Laugh one minute and cry the next beautiful love story. Charisse takes you on this journey in an amazingly written novel that not only has you falling in love with Kinzleigh and Breyson but also their friends, siblings and parents. Charisse also managed to write this with the HOT scenes that accompany any hot young Romance.

To conclude this Book is a hot, Steamy and beautifully written story that will have your emotions all over the the place (which a good book should) and will have you doing the ugly cry.

Charrise Reid, I am in in awe of you.. Your are set for HUGE things I loved this book and will be recommending it to everyone (even random people on the street) Now Get Writing LOL The world needs book 2 Twisted Fate!!!!!Accepted FateCharisse Reid

WOW, just wow!!! An amazing 5**** read.

‘What a journey that was. Charrise you knocked my emotions well and truly out of the park!’

I was extremely privileged to be sent an ARC of Charisse’s debut novel Accepted Fate and what an exceptional read it was.

The story is based around Kinzleigh Baker. She is a strong headed, bright independent girl who will not let anything step in her way to achieve her goals and aspirations in life. However its seems that Fate may indeed have other ideas!

So what can I tell you? Everyone get ready as there is a smoking hot new book boyfriend hitting the block. Just make sure you are ready for him to take over your mind and e-reader!

I was hooked from the beginning. Without a doubt, Charisse has a way with words that make you not only really feel what her characters feel, but you also find yourself caring about them with such a passion as the book continues. It really leaves you hanging on for more.

I cannot begin to describe the twists and turns that await you as you read this book, I can only advise that they are fabulous, heart wrenching and whole heartedly mind-blowing.

Accepted Fate is by far a story that pulled on my heartstrings repeatedly throughout the whole book. And yes, I may have turned into a hormonal mess! thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly advise that it is definitely a must read!!!

What are you waiting for? Get adding it to your TBR’s already.

~ Not to add any pressure Charisse, but could you hurry up with book two please ~

It's summer break which means fun, sun and parties for the kids in California ! On the first day of hitting the beach and catching rays Kinzleigh meets Breyson and the chemistry between the 2 of them is obvious ! Breyson is determined to get to know her better.

Kinzley goes to a family dinner where her parents drop a bombshell which is devastating for her :'(
She goes to her thinking spot on the pier to process the news . Whiles she's there she gives in to her emotions.Breyson notices her distress and goes to console her. The way he approaches her and deals with her had me melting on the spot ! * feel like a cougar for admitting this*

A fantastic read!! Kept my attention while reading the whole way thru. I recommend this book to everyone who likes love stories, with a little bit of suspense. The characters make the story line flow so well together. This is now at the top of my favorite books I've read, along with Janet Evanovich and Rachel Gibson. Can't wait for the second book to come out!! Way to go!!!!

3.5 Stars!

It saddens me that the rating isn’t higher, although I enjoyed myself immensely while reading this book, I can’t ignore the many issues I had with the book up until midway through chapter eight. After that point, I was absolute, utter trash for this pair. Kinzleigh and Breyson. I loved discovering their differences and similarities, and how that ultimately changes the way they interact and view love and lust. Kinzleigh Baker is a cynic, a realist. Love? Why bother. Boys? That's a laugh. She lives her life based on the mistakes others close to her have made. While she gets plenty of attention from guys, she gives zero back. She knows what she has and shes not prepared to lose it, especially over a stupid boy. She’s worked hard for her position as captain of the cheerleading squad and has her eyes set on continuing her dream in college. But when Southern beau Breyson Abercrombie crashes into her life like a haywire train, she realizes that maybe giving boys a shot is just what she needs, but not just any boy, Breyson; because he's only in town for a week and his heart is just as off-limits as her own.

I was extremely invested in K&B’s relationship, however prominent or disconnected. I was surprisingly emotional at times because the author allows us to see their connection go from nonexistent to satisfyingly intense. I loved seeing K unwind and come out of her shell, I equally adored B and his struggles of wanting to have her but knowing he can’t-- forced to face the reality of their situation. It was bittersweet in that they both want to give more than either of them are capable of. Through the highs and the lows I could not put this book down for the life of me, especially with both their agendas so agonizingly similar yet worlds-apart. All throughout the reader knows a secret that could change everything for them both, could give them everything they want-- or could just as easily ruin it all.

“I hate what he’s doing to me, but I love it all the same” -K

“I knew better than to let myself have her. One taste and I'm hooked.” -B

What I liked:

1) Was the perfect end-of-summer read, beaches and stars and pool parties
2) Realistic character development (not bad for the span of one week)
3) Minimal girl-on-girl hate (only when their actions directly hurt others)
4) Characters are balanced (not perfect) and refreshingly mature and wise
5) K & Presley’s friendship, the right amount of push and shove
6) Parent/Kid advice and positive roles
7) K sticks to her guns, even after she’s interested in B
8) Characters are put in their place by others when acting ridiculous (AKA says what the reader is thinking about their behavior)
9) The author is talented at writing the most deliciously realistic yet dream-like steamy moments
10) When mistakes are made, they are owned up to
11) Surprisingly deep and heart-wrenching situations and moments
12) The way this book made me FEEL, I was in a daze after I finished (while punching in my card number to get the next installment)
13) Realistic reasons for viewing love the way they do
14) Man-whoring done in a non-douchey way
15) Insanely adorable flirtation
16) They didn’t exchange numbers, all communication was done face-to-face

(Most of what I disliked either stopped completely after chapter 8 or was very subdued afterward, but I still felt I needed to include each point because it did hinder my reading experience for that time)

What I disliked:

1) The way they met, how fast things progressed, it felt forced and unrealistic given both their mental status’ at the time.
2) I hate to say from chapters 1-(midway through) 8 I was infuriated with both K & B.
*K, because she displayed selfish, ignorant and childish behavior (which could do with her lack of experience and distress) but, still.
*B, because of his unjustified possessiveness and jealousy and unrealistic infatuation with her after only knowing K for 2 days.
3) The most mundane tasks, routines, even places were explained in excruciating detail
Irrelevant characters got detailed descriptions (I’m talking an entire paragraph) and end up having 1 or 2 lines MAX.
4) Lack of diversity, all the characters are wealthy, white, and privileged.

Obviously, this book is not perfect, but then no book really is. For a romance novel it was fantastic and super entertaining. I would definitely recommend to give this one a shot! I know I’m glad I did. Even my dislikes were sprung upon my nit-pickiness but most of it subsided and flew out the window once the story picked up. Again, I love K & B’s dysfunctional yet appropriately driven relationship.

This one was rather disappointing. I thought it was going to be a sort of coming of age story with a nice, if cliché romance. It was… not.

I really did not like the characters. I guess Kinzleigh’s dedication to cheerleading was admirable, but her assumptions about the south and dismissal of the cheerleading down there was annoying and immature. I felt like the author was trying too hard to make her seem all sweet and great and loyal or whatever, while making her spoiled and rich and privileged. Like, wow, she’s the only one shy about love and sex and all that and she’s a walking dream for all the guys, awww…. special little snowflake….

Breyson didn’t impress me at all. Especially the cliché way he and Kinzleigh met and interacted with each other… ick, ick, ick. I would’ve liked to know more about Beau and how his death affected him, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Instead, his perspective was saturated with hot-blooded jealousy/possessiveness and slobbery drool over Kinzleigh, who somehow hits him differently than all other girls.

Kinzleigh’s perspective was just as bad. Either she was moaning about how terrible love is or she was slack-jawed over the glorious, beautiful Breyson.

The romance was atrocious. I get that it’s teenage love and it’s going to be fantastical and fast-paced and ridiculous, but wow, this was literally two teens infatuated with each other’s looks and Breyson being glad that Kinzleigh wasn’t *like other girls* because she wasn’t
a) having sex 12098734095 times a week
and
b) desperately pursuing a relationship

I actually liked Konnor, and I would’ve liked to explore the sibling dynamic more. I also don’t mind Presley that much, though she seems like the stereotypical adventurous, boy-crazy best friend of the shy heroine.

And then there was Preston, Presley’s older brother, who is *in love* with the special snowflake heroine. Three years older, sleeping with half of the female population in California, waiting desperately for Kinzleigh, who he sees as an object to be won (just like Breyson! fun times). I’m reassuring myself with the idea that he’ll probably go to college and become obsessed with someone else. But then if that happens, watch Kinzleigh be so upset because *oh no* one of her future love options *betrayed* her or whatever. Or maybe she’ll be glad because she can just go be with Breyson. Who knows. I don’t think I’ll be sticking around to find out.

Then there were the stereotypical lusty, one-dimensional characters like Lexi. At least Adalynn was nice.

That ending was ridiculous. Natalie, the stereotypical mean girl/clingy, jealous girlfriend type, goes up to Breyson and tells him she’s pregnant. Breyson at the time is mooning over Kinzleigh, hoping that she will contact him more through Facebook and text after a summer to think things through.

Wow. This book was stupid.

Oh wow, Charisse you have become a favorite of mine just with a few books and still more to go. If I was young again, Breysen (ONE of a set of TRIPLET brothers) would be everything I wanted! Yes I have to mention the 3 B's... Briar, and Braxton, and then a sister Brylee, these B's are important to know because with my reviews anyway, I want to refer to "B" without mentioning who I'm referring to, you know, just in case someone gets killed, kidnapped, married etc.I just don't like to ruin for others! If you have read or want to read you will know:) EMOTIONS of mine... come on Kinzleigh, get with the program,~ very happy, very pissed, sad, very happy again, then this can't be happening! GRAB book 2!

First, I would like to thank Charisse for choosing me as a beta-reader for her first book. I'm so proud of you and excited I could be part of this journey. Ok! Ok! Now to the book.... This was an amazing first novel that was easily read. I felt the characters happiness, love, hurt, and fear as they pushed through their boundaries to the unknown... LOVE! It was easy to fall in love with Breyson's character because he's sweet with Southern charm, and when he knows what he wants he goes after it. Kinzleigh has a heart of gold and knows what she wants out of life, but when she let her walls down, her future is forever changed. I can't wait to see what the future holds for these two characters and I'm looking forward to the next book!!!!

I love the way that the characters in this book are so up front about not wanting to ever love anyone. I thought it was tragic that they would miss out on this type of experience because others in their lives were destroyed by someone that they loved. I was so happy that they finally came to their senses and were able to see that they could be happy together. The ending left me in tears. I can't wait for the second book!!!

I need to know what happens to Breyson and Kinzleigh!!!!

I cannot believe that ending. It seriously made me sick! I get really attached to these characters.
Omg please tell me he is not really gone! I hate books where one of the leads die.. From the looks of the next two books blurbs I feel like he's really gone.. Idk if I even wanna read the next book... It was really good other than that damn ending. Why didn't the get an HEA... :(

4.5 pissed off stars.
Breyson and Kinzleigh are fated to be together. First meeting in California sparks fly. Then when relocating to the middle of nowhere according to Kinzleigh, their paths cross again.
Great story about future career driven teens who cannot fight fate.
I wanted to scream at the ending of this book. I cannot wait for the next book to see how this ends.
