Howard Morley Sachar was an American historian. He was Professor Emeritus of History and International Affairs at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and the author of 16 books, as well as numerous articles in scholarly journals, on the subjects of Middle Eastern and Modern European history.
This book is very comprehensive, clearly written, and very informative. However, I found it difficult to read from cover to cover. It seemed like a textbook, and probably has been used as a textbook. I think it best used as a reference book.
Some of the language is outdated (c.1977 Revised) and he tends to show his bias but overall a very informative and engaging look into to one of the most creative, persecuted people's of the World, from a very bright man.
