Practical

There are a lot of super easy recipes that are more practical and things that the whole family would enjoy. She provides a bunch of useful information for those who are learning to cook. This is a book I'll be giving my teens.

This is a cookbook I picked up for my teenager daughter who wants to learn to cook, but she doesn't want to listen to me lol! The cookbook really does have simple, beginning recipes. They are easy recipes. The author does a great job giving tips and tricks to make duties in the kitchen a little easier.
There aren't as many pics as I would have liked in the cookbook, but the pics that are there are good.

This is a very good beginner’s reference/cookbook. Teaches you the essential cooking skills with super simple recipes. Lists the essential kitchen tools, necessary appliances, and staple ingredients for your pantry to get your kitchen set up and ready. Knife techniques, how to measure ingredients, and cooking terms are all covered. Recipes all have short prep time. Throughout the book there are tips and techniques that guide you through the process. Ingredients are easy to find at your local grocery store. A lot of home-style favorites. Recipes are clear and easy to follow. A great gift for the new cook and also the season cook will benefit from the recipes.

Best cookbook I have read in a long time. Filled with fresh ingredients instead of processed foods typical of super easy recipes Lisa brings quality delicious food fast to the table. Lots of wonderful tips for the beginner cook but also terrific for any working person pressed for time, college students or busy parents. Highly recommend this one.

Not Italian

Everything sounds delicious, but I'm 83, and I was raised and learned to cook in a home and by a mother who didn't use spicy or tomatoey flavorings or Italian ones for that matter. I don't favor them either and would like to try the recipes without those flavorings added, will that work?

Quite good! Quite a few ingredients that I was not familiar with are in the recipes so they weren't the most convenient but it helped me learn. Information about different types of knives and kitchen appliances that I'm embarrassed to not have not known were included in the first few chapters which helped me feel better equipped in tackling the receipes.

Not for young teens

Thought some of the recipes sounded good, but noticed that one called for white wine and one included vodka. Was going to buy a paperback of this book for a teen whose name I got from an angel tree and include a grocery store gift certificate. Decided against it as they would not be able to buy these ingredients. Also, the parents might not approve.
