Super happy to finally get to read Blood Bond❣️ So worth the long wait. I loved to be back in this world again. Loved Ronan and Justice so much. They took on the issues with which I've been so obsessed recently; starving/starvation, duty, bravery, and loyalty. But best of all, for a romance lover like me, lots of hot blood bond.

Certain unavoidable reality had also sneaked into this world of fantasy. Evil was so strong and so powerful with massive numbers of minions. But my Sentinels would fight on, continue to love, to hope, and would triumph in the end. I'd follow and cheer them on until the War ends with our Victory~ no matter how many more books it'll take! Yeah . . . loving the series & especially this story like crazy. For sure!

Sharing one of my favorite scenes ➡️ The birth of a baby girl, after two hundred hopeful/hopeless years!

The two of them were now three. A family.

His daughter screamed in outrage at her new surroundings. Nika cradled her against her bare chest and cooed soft words of reassurance. "You're okay now. Everything is okay. Daddy's going to kill those nasty monsters and we're all going to be just fine."

The baby quieted and stared up at her mother with somber eyes, listening.

Madoc tied and cut the cord. Nika delivered the afterbirth without trouble. . . Everything was normal, textbook. Even with the growling, howling demons at the door, inside this little delivery room, all was peaceful and perfect.

I can't express to you my excitement when I heard Shannon K. Butcher was releasing a new book for the Sentinel Wars series! I have loved these books for so long, and I have been eagerly waiting for the next chapter in the characters' lives. Shannon delivered a book that far surpassed my expectations and has me begging for more of this fantastic world she has created! Some of her books have focused on the Theronai, which are the immortal warriors of the world that protect humans from the evil Synestryn. Other books focus on the Sanguinar, a race of beings that require blood to survive, and this book centered around one of them. The Sanguinar and the Theronai are intimately connected and need each other in order to avoid the extinction of their races, so readers always get a glimpse of both in each book within this series. It was so much fun seeing old characters and where their lives have taken them.

Justice is slowly going mad with the voice in her head, compelling her to do things that range from very good to very, very bad. When it compels her to rescue a young girl and take her someplace safe, the one name her mind keeps going to is the one being who scares her the most - Ronan. Ronan is a Sanguinar, and the last time he saw Justice, she ran from him in fear after he brutally took her blood. He may have been starving at the time, but he is guilt-ridden over his mistreatment of her. When he finds her wounded with a girl who bears the Theronai marking, he takes both to Dabyr for safety. Justice is still leery of Ronan and only wants to avoid more pain in her life. Ronan must work to earn Justice's trust or else they both will suffer as the Synestryn gain more power over their world.

Justice was a strong, independent heroine that I liked immediately! She may have been compelled to do things she wasn't comfortable with but she also didn't let that compulsion guide her internal drive to do good. She had an innate sense of justice, fitting with her adopted name, and her behavior was ultimately backed by a personality of genuine kindness. Her interactions with Ronan were frustrating at first, but as she got to know him and his world, she realized how important he was to her. Ronan was a complex character who was at conflict with himself often - I could tell that he didn't always like doing what he had to do in order to survive, but he also knew that some things were more important than his own discomfort. His connection with Justice and his drive to heal her was very intense, and it really solidified their relationship early on, even with Justice protesting all the while. Everything they both did was to protect the other, and I liked seeing how it all played out.

The tenth book in the Sentinel Wars series is not to be missed! I would recommend that you read the previous books in order to best appreciate this one, as there is a lot of background information that helps explain characters and history in this book. But even if you want to start here, I can guarantee you that it will be an enjoyable read!

**I received a free copy from the author and this is my honest review.**

REVIEW: BLOOD BOND is the tenth instalment in Shannon K Butcher's SENTINEL WARS paranormal, fantasy romance series. This is Sanguinar Ronan, and Justice's story line. BLOOD BOND can be read as a stand alone but for cohesion and history, I would suggest reading the series in order as many of the storylines overlap and continue in each successive instalment. Shannon is an author who builds up future storylines in many of the previous novels.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Sentinels are three races descended from an ancient race of guardians known as the Athanasians, who defend and protect mankind from the demons at the door. The Theronai are the protectors whose Theronai lifemark-The Tree of Life-begins to lose its’ leaves if a Theronai warrior does not find his mate. The lifemark is a visual gage of a soul’s health, and all of the warriors suffering with the pain are running out of time. The Synestryn have killed most of the female Theronai and the warriors are in need of women whose DNA and heritage will match with their own: the Sanguinar are the healers (as well as blood feeders) and the Synestryn are the demons whose humanity has been lost for centuries.

Told from several third person perspectives including Justice and Ronan BLOOD BOND follows several paths as Justice is 'compelled' to retrieve a number of items from various locations. Weeks (or months) earlier Ronan was dying and our heroine was the only source of sustenance for the ailing Sanguinar, a source that now connects our leading couple. As Justice is coerced by an unidentified psychic entity, Ronan must ensure that the woman that calls to his blood survives her journey into the unknown. Several attempts on both of their lives forces Justice to walk away before doing further damage, damage she fears to destroy the man with whom she is falling in love. What ensues is the building romance between Justice and Ronan, and the fall-out as the Theronai compound in Dabyr is targeted by the Synestryn demons.

Meanwhile Madoc and Nika are awaiting the arrival of their first born child, the first born Theronai in close to two hundred years. The attack on the compound is imminent but from who or what remains a mystery. Preparations were made in advance of the attack but they never expected the overwhelming hoard or the identity of their ultimate prize.

BLOOD BOND is a fast paced, action packed story line of good vs evil; betrayal and revenge; power and control. The premise is engaging; the romance is fated; the characters are colourful, energetic and powerful. Shannon K. Butcher's world of the paranormal is exciting and dangerous.

It has been close to three years since the last Sentinel Wars book was released, and I struggled to remember all of the connections, and various paths on which the Theronai travel. The war between the Theronai and Sanguinar, and the Synestryn has come full circle-a war in which not all will survive.

Blood Bond by Shannon K. Butcher is the tenth book in the Sentinel War series. When asked to review this title I enquired if it could be read as a stand-alone. Assured I would be able to follow the story without reading the previous books I decided to accept the request. Well, this was true as the author provided titbits of information from the previous books thus allowing me to have some understanding of the world and the different species of supernatural beings she created. However, in all fairness I believe it would be best to start at the beginning. I found this installment interesting, and I have added the previous books to my reading list.

I had a wonderful time getting to know the main characters in this installment. Justice is a loner, but this was not by choice. Ten years ago, she woke from a coma with no memory of her identity. The only thing she knows is she is compelled by an unforeseen force to perform certain duties. She never knows when she would be called upon to act, but disobedience is not an option as it can lead to excruciating pain. Her duty to obey led to her meeting Ronan when the unforeseen force compelled her to rescue him from certain death. One taste of her blood was all it took for him to know she was the one for him, if only he could convince her.

Ronan is a Sanguinar, who needs blood to survive. He does not like the label vampire, but technically that is his nature. My heart went out to Ronan and his kind. Their lives were bleak. Constantly faced with starvation because of the lack of sufficient blood supply. He uses his powers to heal humans in exchange for their blood, which helps to sustain him, but it is still not sufficient. Justice’s blood proved the perfect elixir to keep him sustained.

Despite Justice’s uncertainties about her feelings for Ronan, they made a great team. No matter the circumstances, they had each other backs. They are willing to sacrifice for each other even if it kills them.

The story began on a high note, where we see Justice coming to the rescue of a little girl while undertaking another mission. Despite this, I took some time to get into the story. This is not because it wasn’t any good, but I had to be familiarizing myself with the world and its various inhabitants. However, as events evolved, I became engrossed in the story and could not wait to discover the angle it would take.

Intense action scenes coupled with a sweet romance made for an interesting read. Despite their instant connection, it took a while for Justice to warm up to Ronan. I found the revelations intriguing, and I would love to explore these further.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Overall, I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to fans of paranormal romance.

The last Sentinel Wars book was released over 3 years ago. I have to admit I've forgotten the small details and secondary characters. In this new book, I had no idea who Ronan and Justice were. I do remember the main premise of the books. The sentinels are nearly immortal warriors who battle back demons and keep humans safe. They are allies with the Sanguinar, who need blood to survive. The Sanguinar are also excellent healers.

Ronan is a Sanguinar. Justice has no memory until she woke up a few years ago. Since then she has had to do what the 'fates' tell her to do or she experiences great pain. I liked Ronan and Justice as a couple. I just wish I could have remembered more of the details. I had no clue what was going on with many of the characters or who they were.

The writing was excellent and the action scenes were exciting. I hope I don't have to wait another 3 years for the next book.

It had been so long since SB had put out a book in this series that I was lost a good bit of the way. Then it ended abruptly and felt unfinished. Hopefully it won't be as long until the next book.

YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!

Really enjoyed this new edition to the Sentinels Wars Series!!!

I was sooo EXCITED when I found out Shannon K Butcher was continuing on with the series I willed the time to go faster so that it would be here. I was NOT Disappointed.

I LOVED IT!!!!!

To be brought back into that world again is beyond amazing!!!

Okay SO I love me some Theronai but the Sanguinar are sooo interesting as a species and a character they give so much but are also feared and tolerated.

Ronan is super strong and interesting I loved his love for his people and the lengths he is willing to go for them.
Justice is amazing and quick and I love her tenacity and strong will. She never gives up.

The fates that guide her are incredibly strong and her will to overcome them fun to read.

I LOVED that Nika and Madoc cameoed in this story (they have to be my favourite of couples in the series).

The story overall is fast paced and incredibly action packed and full of love and hope and battles and strength and just WOW AMAZING!!!

All up and incredible addition to the series and I cannot wait for more there are so many more stories I want to read from these incredible characters. All I can say is THANK the Universe that Shannon K Butcher came back!!!

Now just to wait for it to come out in paperback to join the rest of my Sentinel Family.

The Romance Review

Diving into a well-established series is difficult at times to orient oneself. However, BLOOD BOND, Ms. Butcher's 10th book in the series, is surprisingly easy to acclimate into from the very beginning. Highlights from previous stories are provided in a quick summary form, well integrated into the scenes. The world building seems to be a continuous expanding one as the reader learns more about the different worlds. There are some big reveals in this story which leads me to believe the previous books in the series may have been slowly building up to these big reveals. I enjoyed the instant gratification. This book can be read as a standalone, but it is recommended to read the previous books first.

The characters in this story are easy to like. Justice is a lone ranger who does what she's commanded. She never knows when she will be forced to take action. After years of this, she is numb to it and knows better than to resist. This lack of memory reminds me of a sleeper agent similar to Blindspot, a popular series on TV. I enjoyed this Jane Doe character who is trying to figure out her past and is able to solve so many cases with her unique abilities that she has no idea where she's learned them from. This is the same for Justice. She is obviously well trained and with no memories. She knows that she is fighting the good fight, just not sure which side she is exactly helping. She likes to convince herself she is doing the right thing.

This plot device is intriguing and Ms. Butcher does an excellent job of showing Justice's concerns, guilt and sometimes, remorse for what she's done. Due to her lack of control when she's "under the influence", she ends up with a solitary life until a Sanguinar (vampire) forces her to accept him as a friend and possible ally. Ronan's world is a bleak and depressing one. It seems hopeless for the good guys. The way his people have to live and eke out an existence is hard, full of disappointment and constant hunger. Justice could be a catalyst to turn the tides and her mysterious past only makes him want her more.

Their interactions are awkward mostly due to Justice's lack of social interaction. It's endearing and at times exasperating. Ronan's strong steady loyalty makes him the perfect mate to Justice's hopes and desires for stability. Their sexual chemistry is sweet. It is their defense of each other which is more captivating. Their desire to sacrifice for each other is poignant if a bit melodramatic. Still, in this world that Ms. Butcher has created, large gestures are the norm. This paranormal romance is recommended to readers who enjoy a dystopian theme with paranormal twist.

It's been so long since a book in this series has come out I had forgotten about it. It was easy to remember what was going on and I'm not sure what to think about the author's reason why it took so long at the end of the book. Part of me wants to read under her new name, part of me not so much.

This book had a lot going on in it, ending with a big epic battle, one where everything was on the line. It was funny how once all that was happening all the actions Justice had been forced to do by her fates made sense. It was like the fates knew what was going to happen and made sure someone was going to be there with just what was exactly needed to survive and win the battle. I really loved the attitude everyone had in the aftermath, how this is only causing them to fight more to save their way of life.

Ronan and Justice were great together, even when Justice was unsure, she trusted Ronan enough to help him and let him help her. But what I really liked about them was how Ronan was able to give Justice the one thing she really wanted, a family and a place to belong.

This book was great. We met Justice and Ronan in another book, so I loved seeing them get their story. Justice only had memories of the past ten years and the fates compelled her to do things she didn’t want to do and she had no clue why she needed to do those things. Ronan was drawn to her and her blood, but that wasn’t what had him going back and trying to find her. Their story was a complex one, but that complexity made it so fantastic. It was a long wait for this book and that wait was understandable once the length of this book was seen and the complexity of the story was read. I just hope we don’t have to wait another two and a half years for the next story.

Intense PNR with a vampire to swoon over

I jumped into this series for the first time, and I loved it! I am very picky about vampire romance, but this intense novel compares favorably with excellent PNR by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Larissa Ione, and Lisa Kessler. The novel drew me in, intriguing me from the first dangerous scene, and quickly hooking me. I loved it more with every page. The novel is written in third person perspective. I've really been missing out not trying this “Sentinel Wars” series before, and now they are on my TBR list. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who likes intense, steamy paranormal romance with vampires.

Ronan is super sexy. He is an odd sort of vampire who drinks blood and can convert the blood into magic to psychically heal people. There is more light than darkness in his soul. I love how careful and respectful he is to Justice, the woman who he feels is his true mate. Ronan is driven and determined but he does not steamroll over Justice’s free will.

I admire the heroine Justice for being able to survive this long with her problems. She woke up one day ten years ago with no memory and is constantly being coerced into doing things by the fates. She has true mental toughness but is scared to care for anyone. Her chemistry with Ronan is through the roof! Justice kicks butt as an awesome leading lady.

I received a free advanced reading copy, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Born to help her people Justice had no memory of her life before she awoke alone years earlier driven by a compulsion "fates" to do things she did not understand she had feed Sanguinar Ronan and had been connected to him ever since. Though afraid of him when she is shot during a rescue of a young girl he is who she thinks of. When Ronan feels that Justice is in danger he goes to her and finds her unconscious from blood loss he heals her and takes her to a safe place. Though he wants to help her by ridding her of the "fates", he knows she is his and will help her complete her tasks while trying to figure out how. All he has to do is keep her safe as she collects things and then face a battle with the Synestryn to get his HEA. Though this can be read as a standalone, the story is part of the Sentinel Series and is better if read as such. No cheating, No cliffhanger
I have read and reviewed this as a voluntary ARC.

Justice woke up 10 years ago naked and with no idea who or what she was. Since then she is a sort of prisoner following a compulsion across the country doing whatever she is made to - both good and bad. Ronan is a Sanguinar and has to find the blood left behind by an ancient magical race or else he will stave to death. Justice saved his live weeks ago and he has craved and dreamed about her ever since. Evil is closing in on the Sentinels and their stronghold - can Ronan get Justice's trust, free her and save the stronghold?

I loved this story which had the right level of drama, action, sensitive moments and serious plot. I loved the complex layers in the relationships between Justice, Ronan and even the compulsion that drives Justice. They all had unique features and nuances. Well written it was easy to understand and empathise with the characters (both the good ones and the bad ones). I think you can read this story even if you have never read a story in the series.

I am so so happy that Shannon K. Butcher, has brought the Sentinel War series back! I “mourned” when it looked like it was over! (I know overly dramatic!)
Blood Bond picks up where the last book left off and it seemed to flow like it hasn’t been over three years since the last book. I have to admit thought that I wasn’t too sure about Ronan and Justice, I’m more of a Slayer kind of gal, (read the books you’ll get what I mean)! However it worked, and they worked, and it was a perfect book to get the series up and running again.
We’ve seen some of the Theronai and Sanguinar have their stories told, but I’m hoping that a certain Slayer leader, Andreas *cough, cough, will get his book soon! Love the Slayers in this series, and want a lot more of them!

Justice keeps being torn between her compulsion to run from and run to Ronan, which hasn’t made it easy to stay alive and do what she compelled to do. But when her luck almost runs out, he is there to save her and she finds that he’s where she’s meant to be.

Turns out Justice’s compulsion has been leading her to gather what is needed for the Theronai’s great battle to save Dabyr and all the precious treasures and lives within. But that doesn’t mean that it won’t be without a price.

Even knowing that her tasks were done under compulsion, I love how resourceful Justice is. I especially love her warehouse and car.

Fave scenes: killing a speed demon, Logan checking on Nika’s baby, filling the semi-trailer and Justice’s way to save Ronan

I'm so pleased to be back in this wonderful world of demons, vampires, and monsters. This book can be appreciated on its own, without any foreknowledge of the series. In the epic fight of good versus evil, it's great to see two fighters fall in love in the midst of kicking evil's butt and taking big baddies' names. Butcher's BLOOD BOND is a lively addition to her paranormal romance series, Sentinel Wars , about the unseen defenders of humanity.

I forgot almost everything about this series, since the last book was published 3 years ago, which made reading this instalment a bit difficult. However, I enjoyed Justice and Ronan's story and the the last few chapters were pretty action packed and interesting. I wasn't blown away or anything, but I'm kinda looking forward to read more about some of the characters, such as Sybil, Morgan and Maura.

Sentinel Series

I’ve waited for Ronins’ story for so long! It was worth the wait. It was so good. I couldn’t put it down. It was also good to visit with characters from past book as the saga continues to unfold. There’s still a lot of story to tell and I’m a serious fan of this series. It has all that makes a great story, and characters that touch your heart as you get to know them. I’m waiting on pins and needles for the next book.

I enjoyed Ronan and Justice, but I would have enjoyed the book more if there hadn’t been so much time between books. I’ve forgotten characters, back story, terminology, etc.

Like most of the Sentinels books, this one ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.

Glad to have a new book in this PNR series. Most of the books have focussed on the Theronai, this is only our second Sanguinar one--still waiting for a Slayers one. I really liked Justice and found her compulsions very interesting.
