The 50 Greatest Prehistoric Sites of the World
Humanity’s written history stretches back only 5,000 years, a mere blip on the timeline of our existence. If you want to know what it really means to be fully human, to see the whole story, you need to go back. Way, way back.
Prehistoric humans couldn’t write, but they were adept at telling their own stories. On every continent and outpost where they gained a foothold, they left signs for modern man to decipher.
From the Middle Bronze Age settlement of Arkaim on the Kazakh Steppes to the temples of the Olmec in Mexico; from one of the first European proto-cities at Nebelivka in Ukraine to the neolithic henges of Avebury and Stonehenge; from the dolmens of Antequera in the heart of Andalucía to the megalithic culture that thrived in isolation on Indonesia’s tiny Nias Island.

Black and white photos don't do justice to the sites. Some of the photos seem an odd choice. Each site only had one photo. Needs to be a large coffee table book with much more photos.

THE 50 GREATEST PREHISTORIC SITES OF THE WORLD (PAPERBACK)
BARRY STONE.
A WELL RESEARCHED BOOK BY THE AUTHOR.GREAT SOUCE OF KNOWLEDGE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT PREHISTORIC SITES OF OUR PLANET.THE SITES DETAILS GIVEN IN THE BOOK AFTER LOTS OF RESEARCH WORK AND AS MUCH AS IN INFORMATIVE MANNER.
EVEN I MOST LIKE THE THE WAY OF WRITING BY THE AUTHOR AS YOU CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND WHAT THE AUTHOR WANTS TO EXPLAIN ABOUT IT.
THE BOOK IS GREAT SOURCE OF KNOWLEDGE FOR BOTH STUDENTS AND RESEARCHERS AS WELL AS TEACHING FACULTY.AS YOU GETS LOTS OF USEFULL INFORMATION OF DIFFERENT HERITAGE PRE HISTORIC SITES THROUGH THIS BOOK IN MOST EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT MANNER .
I LIKE THE CREATIVITY WHILE WRITING THIS BOOK AND GETS LOTS OF INFORMATION THROUGHT THIS BOOK I AM NOT WRONG IF I SAY THIS IS A SMALL PAPERBACK ENCYCLOPEDIA ON PRE HISTORIC SITES CONTAINS LOTS OF INFORMATIVE WORK.
OVERALL RATING READ ONCE TO GET USEFULL INFORMATION.

I love travelling to historical sites such as those described in the book. So I got it as a source of inspiration. While each site gets one black and white photo and maximum 4 pages of text, I think the book does a good job at showing how each place is unique. And it does not stick to just descriptions of the sites, but offers quite a bit of insight. Especially the story of the Vietnamese site was very touching. Definitely want to see some of these places.
