The way you live your life follows the way you see yourself. This book of meditations will empower you to align the way you think about yourself with the Word of God. Because when you catch HIS vision of who you really are, your whole life changes. "Be transformed by the renewal of your mind." Romans 12:2
Archbishop Charles J. Chaput has called Chris Stefanick “one of the most engaging young defenders of the Christian faith on the scene today.” Chris speaks to over 50,000 teens, young adults, and parents every year.
Venues he has spoken at include hundreds of high school chastity assemblies and parish events, colleges (including Annapolis, Penn State and the US Air Force Academy) and both national and international events including the Steubenville Youth Conferences, National Catholic Youth Convention, FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) National Conference, the Knock, Ireland Youth Festival, and to 15,000 people at Manila’s Real Love Revolution. Chris was also invited to keynote at World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid, Spain.
Chris has become a regular in Catholic media, appearing frequently on Relevant Radio, and with videos featured on EWTN and Salt & Light (Catholic TV). His written word also reaches tens of thousands monthly through his popular, nationally syndicated column.
This 14-year Youth Ministry veteran served at a parish in the East LA area, as Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Lacrosse, and as Director of Youth, Young Adult and Campus Ministry for the Archdiocese of Denver. He is currently founder and President of Real Life Catholic—a nonprofit organization dedicated to reengaging a generation.
Above all, Chris is proud to be a husband and father to six beautiful children.
I'm a big fan of Chris Stefanick and his positive messages. This book is a wonderful daily reminder that we are unique, blessed children of God. This would make a great Graduation or Confirmation gift.
I didn't get a chance to write a review of this book yesterday. I like how extremely positive the author is about people. If the whole world were as positive as he is I don't think there'd be any more war.
Sometimes, this books entries are aggressively Catholic. Other entries are more generically, or perhaps better to say more generally Christian. As a Protestant, there were certainly a few entries that just didn’t resonate with me. Each entry is very short. The plus side of this is that they are easily read each day. Even a busy person or a non-reader can get through these daily meditations. Negatively, being so short means that they are often theologically shallow; these are not in-depth scriptural explorations. These are zippy little pep talks. The main good thing about this book is that a lot of Christian self-help is too vague, telling us to “give it over to God” or “trust in God” but never really tell you what that means in terms of actual behavior. This book actually gives fairly specific instructions by giving examples of negative self-talk people might be giving themselves and suggesting replacement statements and a few simple exercises. So, even if you find yourself unmoved or disagreeing with some or every entry, at least Stefanick has actionable advice.
I was pretty amazed at how these simple prompts could lead me into deeper prayer. Depending on the day I would find myself reinforced in something I'd read in scripture that morning, or blown away by a reminder of how God works in my life. It was good to read through and then bring some items to spiritual direction for further reflection.
This is a book which one could pick up and put down periodically throughout the year. The structure is simple enough that you don't need to think about spending 30+ minutes reading and reflecting on a chapter, which really helps.
Simple, straight forward, and inspiring. I finished and turned right back to the first page again. I am already looking forward to reading this book with my children, hoping we all truly believe in the words.
I was not expecting such an impact this book made on my life. It changed how I talk to myself, treat others & understand Christ’s love for us all. Best self-affirmation/Christian self-help book I have read! This book will be one I return to again and again.
A reflective, thought provoking book to affirm God’s relationship with us. I will re-read it to go through the affirmations again, which are in nice bit-sized daily chunks.
