Summary: The book is about the life of Johnny Chapman A.K.A Johnny Appleseed. He spent his life traveling around the U.S. planting apple trees and meeting new people.

Evaluation: The book gave a great snapshot of Johnny Appleseed's life. Readers will understand why he planted apple trees in parts of the United States and how his actions impacted others. The book also shows how Johnny Appleseed was a genuine person who helped others because he believed it was the right thing.

Teaching Ideas: This book is great for first grade. I would have a week long unit about Johnny Appleseed and this book would fit well for day one. I would read them the book and after as a class, we would complete a thinking map about Johnny Appleseed. This is great for a comprehension check and students can learn how to brainstorm and how to gather their thoughts

A nice and easy reader for young children all about the legend of Johnny Appleseed. Very basic, very informative, illustrations are average, but my children enjoyed it.

This book is about Johnny Chapman or Johnny Appleseed life story and how he travelled around the world planting his appleseeds to grow into apple orchards.

I really enjoyed this book because of the illustrations it gave and how each illustration corresponded to what was on that page. It also have good facts about his life and was easy to read for younger and more struggling readers.

If I were to use this in a lesson it would be for grades kindergarten through second. It would be a unit plan and we would do multiple activities involving apples and it is also a great book for comprehension assessments as well.
