Lost Falls #1.5

Blood Money

Rate this book

As Lost Falls' resident folk wizard, I can track down anyone.

It should've been a simple job. Find the girl, bring her home.

Except she's not just any girl. She's the bloodslave of one of the most powerful vampires in town.

And I'm not sure she wants to be found.

Chris Underwood spends an unhealthy amount of time in his imagination. Luckily, his partner and daughter are very tolerant. He writes the kind of urban fantasy he has always loved: stories set in perilous, darkly beautiful worlds filled with magic, monsters, and just a touch of hope.

Really enjoyed this. Was thinking of getting in to the series but wasn't sure if I could commit, so was glad I spotted this novella. Very descriptive, interesting characters and excellent twist. I've now downloaded the 1st of the series to read.

Well I really enjoyed Cunning Devil, the first book in this series, big twists and turns, not knowing what's coming next to those great characters.
Well I strongly recommend you read Pay dirt, another fantastic read, with exciting interesting story lines.
When I read Blood Money I realised I enjoyed it more having read the other books first and knew the characters

GOOD DAMSEL IN DISTRESS STORY AND THE SPOOKS ARE STILL THERE

Underwood is a marvel word-smith. Ozzy has become one of my favorite heroes. The cunning-man term is new to my vocabulary, but fits Ozzy and Early much better than "witch" ever could.
It was just too short. Now I have to wait for the next LOST FALLS STORY.

Ozzy and Early get hired to find a vampire’s swain

They end up with a cursed river troll and a goat man. Of course Ozzy has tricks up his sleeve to find the swain and save the troll.

I love these books. Have read them all and I can’t wait for more!

Good fun

Short story, with some nice twists, that gives you a good taste of Ozzie’s world. Well worth a read whether you are new to the series or have read others in this series

Yay!

A nice little story of Ozzy being Ozzy. A complete story. I wish there were more. Ah well. Have to be patient.

Good book

I probably should have been smart and read the first book Cunning Devil in the series first before this book. However, this was still a good and enjoyable read.

Absolutely enjoyed myself once again with Osric “Ozzy” Turner. If you liked Crooked Foundations (prequel) and Book 1 then you will absolutely LOVE this one too.

Short and sweet

Nice little story set before book 3 in the lost falls main series. Best to read at least book 1 first to get some context.

Great stuff just too short!

Tantalizing introduction to the cunning men! Izzy is a modern day Don Quiotey with some magic mixed in. Loved it

A quick read

Chris Underwood has definitely created an interesting character in Ozzy Turner. Witty, snarky and a talented Cunning Man. Looking forward to the series.

Good short story

I like Ozzy and his off-centered humor and desire to do good no matter what. Will be reading another of Chris’ books next.

I’d suggest reading this after #3-4 of the series bc you understand Early and Ozzy better. It is a great little story!

Ozzy is hired to find a missing girl. However, the girl is not just a regular girl, but the bloodslave of a powerful vampire Her car went off the road, and there's a scattering of personal items, but no sign of the girl herself—until Ozzy and Early manage to find an unlikely witness.

This is a short story, and was a very fast read. There weren't any references to the main books that stuck out, so the reading order probably doesn't matter, but I think perhaps I enjoyed it more because I'd read the two main books that are currently available, so I felt like I already 'knew' Ozzy and Early. If I'd read this first, it probably would have been good, but perhaps not as good as I found it. This was a nice little mystery that wraps up completely, and gives a bit of detail about the vampire part of the town.

This was an excellent fantasy book about "Cunning Man, Ozzie" and his cohort Early. A missing girl, a vampire whose willing to pay well for her return and a cursed Troll all make up a fast paced, excellent adventure that includes magic, violence and an excellent ending. Would recommend this short story to anyone to read. I also found the rest of the series as good. Worth catching.
