Battle Harem
Trapped in the uninhabitable zone with three machine women. All of them very hot. And very horny. Not to mention deadly. Jason was a little short on creds so he decided to get his mind scanned. It seemed like a good idea at the get paid to license a copy of your mind for use in one of the numerous machines that run society. What could go wrong? Turns out, a lot. Jason wakes up in the middle of the radioactive wasteland that was created fifty years ago when aliens destroyed half the Earth. He has no idea why he's here, or what the hell he's supposed to do. Worst of all, he's no longer his consciousness has been installed into the AI core of a state-of-the-art war machine, a mech with enough firepower to raze a small city. One would think the military wouldn't want to misplace something like that. Whoops. Hunted by mutated alien bioweapons, Jason travels the wasteland in an attempt to piece together what happened. Along the way he encounters a few abandoned war machines that also have no memory of their mission, machines that can't decide whether they want to join him or kill him. It doesn't help that in VR they all look like super hot women. Sometimes it's tough being a machine. When Jason and his new companions discover what they're truly capable of, however, everything changes. And not necessarily for the better. This book contains bloodthirsty alien mutants, angry robots, violence, swearing, and a harem full of beautiful machine women.

Didn't finish it dropped it early on. "War Bitch" was simply insufferable and I doubted she'd get her comeuppance. I vaguely assume her antics were meant to be "funny" but to me they were just those of a completely grating jerkass.
Let's just sum it up. She attacks the MC out of nowhere, because she's convince it's a test/VR even though there is NOTHING to support this. While the MC keeps trying to convince her she keeps wailing away at him heavily damaging his Mech. She surrenders, then instantly backstabs and tries to kill him yet again.
When other enemies show up, she first doesn't believe they're in real danger. Then "steals" the vantage point he found and kicks him down towards the enemies. Why? Absolutely no good reason, just because she felt like it.
Add to this that her Mech seems way more advanced and useful than the MCs junk one. That she still manages to lose to him despite cheating like mad. That her personality is complete crap and she sets a certain theme for the series at large. As does his reaction. He pleads, he begs, he lets her walk all over him. At no point does our perfect MC ever get angry or upset, he doesn't lash out even when it's justified instead remaining calm and collected (and a doormat).

I got 74% in when I came across the straw that broke the camel's back.
It was bad enough that the MC apparently was unable to control himself in order to NOT have sex and probably screw up the dynamic with his party, and it got worse when he let the girl he DID have sex with screw with his social time for no apparent (from his point of view) reason. I was even tolerant in the beginning when he forgave the 1st girl for attacking him, and the 2nd girl for temporarily forcing them under her control and then using that control to force them to submit. I would have never looked at either of them romantically after that, even if I had to work with them, but suspension of disbelief and all.
But then there came the time when 2 of his party members started attacking the enemy prematurely causing them to at the time, be put into considerable danger, which they weren't ready for, and then they are later like "oh we're sorry" and he's like "I love you guys, so I forgive you". That's horseshit of the highest grade. What they did merits death by firing squad, or at the very least "I'll go my way, you go yours, but get out of my sight".
The message of this book is apparently that this guy loves many women, despite not wanting to, and EACH AND EVERY ONE of those women will do really bad stuff to him, but he'll forgive them because he loves them. The obvious question is WHY does he love them? Handwavia is why, and it's bull shit.

Disappointed
I had just finished Alien Invasion and thought I had found a new favorite author. To me, this book was kinda flaky. Don’t think I will continue the series.

Thanks to my friend Iori, I found this nugget in the vastness of the Kindle macrocosm. Good authors get buried or little to no recognition on Kindle. I am sure that there are many other good authors lost in the Kindle pandemonium.
I was dubious of this book, and reading the cover blurb did not alleviate my concerns of buying another indie author's turkey. The Kindle preview however was decent and the price was low enough that I was willing to bite the electronic bullet; perhaps take one for the team.
I was pleasantly surprised that this is a decent story. Interesting premise, with a cast of characters that are not quite fleshed out as much as I would like, but are also not all perfect and super in everything they do. As the story progresses you get more of a feel for the MC and what he has got himself tangled up in.
The author does a good job of foreshadowing, and letting the reader make their own assumptions. I expected a very puerile book, with lots of graphic, gratuitous sex between the MC and his battle harem. I was pleasantly surprised that the sex scenes are handled classily, and that they are few in number and blessedly short. I did not find myself flipping through the several pages length sex scenes to get back to the action and meat of the story which is what I expected.
For those of us who read fast, this is more of a novella rather than a novel, and I felt that the author did himself a disservice by not making the first book longer. At the end of this book we are finally getting into the good stuff with lots of action, monster robot mayhem and character backstory.
Perhaps his choosing to break the book at that point was an author driven choice encouraging readers to buy the next book. For me it pissed me off, and I am considering whether or not I am pissed enough to not buy the next book and warring with my curiosity about what happens next.

Very focused story

A good fun read!
This was a very good read. I liked the characters right from the start and the action was well played all through the story. Interaction between the characters was great and really made the story a fun read.

"Gotta love solar power"
Fifty years after the alien attack which destroyed half the world, the land is still too radioactive to allow life. And there are fears of packs of bioweapons still roaming the areas.
Jason wakes up in a desolate place, his body changed into a nearly twelve metre tall mech. And he realises that he is a copy poured into a military mech. But why is he alone, no A.I. to assist him, no working Comms, and apparently no restrictive Rules of Engagement which would also control his emotions. And where is he? Where is anyone? Is this a test? Is it V.R?
And suddenly he was no longer alone: another, even taller mech seemed intent on killing him. Her name, she told him, was War Bitch. But very soon they have more than each other to contend with...

Good read!!
I enjoyed the book. Battle mechs, a smidge of building and a group of women all vying for one guys attention. Also a nice nostalgic spin thrown in as well. And the icing on top is that Isaac decided to be Awesome and release the series at once instead of having to wait.

Another new series with a twist from author Isaac Hooke. Hooke’s writing is again, a little more adult in nature but everything that made you love his writing before is present in this new adventure. He's changed it up again and this time he's dealing with an AI after the main character needs cash and sells his mind scan to get some creds.

I loved it, right until I quit
I was really enjoying this harem version of we are legion
, we are Bob. I really liked how level headed and emotionally mature the main character was. Right up until he decided to join the invading aliens and doom all of humanity and all biological life of terrestrial origin. All on the assumption that the u.s. military would try to take away his freedom.
Now that was likely a correct assumption, but to turn traitor on all of humanity to get out of a deal he himself made? NOPE I'm done. Some lines can't be uncrossed.
Yeah I know he'll switch back and save the day later in the book, but he'll do it without me.
Bummer, I was enjoying this book for the most part.

Recent story with inconsistent characters.
Not a bad story but nothing stands out, I'm afraid 6 months from the only thing I'll remember about it is it's problem. My biggest issue is the characters don't seem consistent, at one point a character reminds another character about something he can do but a few paragraphs later she is reprimanded for forgetting he can do that exact same thing. The MC argues for and against them being human at various points in the story and the relationships seem to shift on a dime for no perceivable reason. I'd rate it lower but it's still fairly well written and has potential.

Different than the last couple of harem novels I've read
Good plot, interesting premise for the imprinted a.i. (a la Westworld), the use of Mechs and there ability to join and form something larger (power rangers and other afternoon and Saturday cartoons) and really a minimum of time or pages devoted to the sexual dynamics or the sex. I will get the next book and see where it goes from here.

Boring
This was poorly written drug out story that never left the main plot to explain anything to the reader until the last few pages. Repetitive story line, just read the first encounter between the characters then skip to the end to find out what is going on. Shallow characters and predictable "battle" scenes with little in between.

Jason decides to sell a copy of his mind. When he wakes up he finds himself inside he body of a mech. He decides to make the most of it and starts walking and meets up with a few more mechs, all female, thus the name harem. They form a team and the adventure begins. Very good reading as usual for Isaac.

Interesting introduction
Good intro to this series.
Really enjoyed all the characters; especially the interaction between Jason and his girls.
Though while the beginning was interesting, it kinda got slow in the middle of the story only becoming interesting when reaching the end.
Will give the sequel a try.

Good Idea, interesting world' shit execution, our MC is a total doormat, the females are psychos (an asshole, a dominatrix, an idiot, and a loner...) I just didn't care to hear most of it, only reason I finished this was because it was an audiobook' want more reasons? read Maraud3r & Daniel Katz review way more to the point than mine.

Storyline is pretty good but title is deceiving. Not much of a harem element. It’s a group of women and a man that are fighting together as a team. The two supposed steamy scenes are more of a fade to black sort. Not particularly interested in reading book 2. If you’re interest is in a good robot/mech war type book then you’ll enjoy this

This was a fun quick read. I can't wait to read more. If you played and like BattleTech, this book is doubly for you. Even without the familiarity of that game, the book is a quick read with descriptive battles. A future easy to imagine.

Battlebots Galore!
If you like Mechs, mutants, and action, you will love this book, and it has sex too! So it is definitely not for childern. It is a smooth and very enjoyable read, and I love how they integrated VR, and the mechs kept their human personalities.

If you like mech battles and Sci-fi military stuff then you will enjoy this book.
Detailed enough to be enjoyable but not to much to go over the heads to people who know nothing of military tactics.

Something different for certain.
This was certainly different. I have to say the action was solid, but I'd like to see more development on how they are using alien technology. Seemed odd they can use it, but not reproduce it.

3.75 to 4 stars, I did like this for the most part and think it is very close to a 4 star book. I did find some parts recurring over and over but it was still pretty good I would for sure continue with this series. This is not a short read so prepare for a long story line for this type of book.

Fun BattleMech story
I really enjoy this author's writing. It's eminently read-able. He adds enough technical feeling language to make you feel smart when you understand it but, not so much that you feel stupid because you had to read it twice. Very engaging.

Great fun
There is plenty of action. This is a continuation of the last trilogy set in the same universe. I also highly recommend the other series.

Not bad for a light entertaining read. Decent action and character interaction. Keep up the good work. Enjoy the entertainment.
