Ethan and his allies were victorious against the combined forces of two dragons at the siege of Whitespire.
Now, Ethan and his team of beautiful sorceresses must venture into its sunken lair and defeat the cunning deep sea dragon in order to bring peace to the kingdom of Elloriel once and for all.
Another dragon down and hints at more threats to come
Dragon Slayer is only my fifth favorite series of MSE, but it is still a fun read with great characters and an interesting world taking shape. Every book leaves me entertained and eager for more.
A fairly decent hanging conclusion; with one HUGE gripe! I knew going in that this was one of MSE's many abandoned projects. As a guy who struggles to finish anything more involved than this beer here, I can cut MSE some slack. Picking up something that you used to be into and trying to work on it again, ...well it's like trying to dance good to a song you can't stand anymore. And wile I vainly wished there was more after this, I could feel the author was moving on in his thoughts as he was writing. Still, and let me say this loud and clear. Finishing a project you are no longer inspired by is one of the hardest things to do as an artist, and MSE did a very good job. A fine dangling ending with a feeling of complet(ish)ness. A good place to quit. NOW, my knuckle popping, eyelid twitching axe to grind with this one book specifically and is not an aspersion on the entire series. The hero has to fight some monsters in a dungeon, Okay. The hero is equipped with an axe, Okay. The monsters are female, ...technically Okay, but you are heading into dangerous ground. The author describes how sexy gorgeous these monster-girls are, wile also describing how brutally they are being murdered. NOT OKAY ONE LITTLE BIT. Did I get the impression that Michael-Scott Earle needs a Mental State Examination (MSE)? No, not really. I don't think he was working out any mommy issues or fantasizing about some ex-girlfriend that cheated on him. It felt more like he made a drunken bet with some other game-lit writer that he should have welshed on when sober but decided to carry on with and he tried to make it funny. You might be thinking, I'm making too big a fuss about one little phrase in a book, but It wasn't one little phrase. The juxtaposition between masturbatory imagery and graphic violence was made 4-5 times in a overly prolonged fight scene. Busty mermaids with hourglass figures and long flowing hair were dismembered, decapitated, disemboweled, burned alive, and had their skulls crushed. ..just, ..ugh what the hell man? After 3 1/2 books you've set up a pattern where BOOBS + ASS lead to a sex scene. Then in the last half of book four you decide to switch it up so that boobs + ass lead to a graphic slaughter where you crack the sternum of a monster girl with a fire axe wile mentioning how big her titties are? This pisses me off so much I want to swear in the review. -anyway. other than that, it was fine.
Does a very good job of weaving short term challenges into a longer story arc. Water, the latest magical element introduced, had some interesting characteristics. It’s fun to see Ethan continue to organically improve his understanding of the magic system and inter-elemental interactions.
It is fun to see Irenya and Arieste become besties. Rizzala comes into her own and develops as a unique character. Letharia starts to overcome her cowardice, and again is an interesting character with dramatically different perspective on the world.
These books consistently fill the slot for light pulp action serials, utterly in line with Doc Savage, Max Bolan, and the like. They simply add more fantasy to the mix, along with perhaps a bit more sex. If you enjoy a great male fantasy action harem romp chances are great you will love these. If so, you should definitely check out the author’s other work. Good Stuff.
Where do I start. This book, and indeed, this whole series is non-stop action. From the opening to the close the story moves forward at a frantic pace. I love the additional cast and the development of the relationship s with those already present. Ethan is a warrior who in headed for greatness...... Adam would still kick his ass, though.
with the castle safe its time to get revenge in the most dangerous hunt get as they go underwater, But it seems that there is more than meets the eye as mysteries are now solved books .The best dragon slayer yet these just keep getting better each time i read the next in the series.
I liked it and I enjoy books by MSE but some of these series, especially the Dragon Slayer series, are quite short which causes me to give a slightly lower rating. Don't get me wrong I can appreciate the fact that he creates a lot of great content in a very short time frame but I would appreciate a little more on occasion.
I love this book from start to finish the characters are well written and awesome and the author did a job with the story can't wait to buy a copy on audiobooks.
3 to 3.5 stars, so pretty much the same as the others, if you like them you will like this one. I do in fact like this author but I don't think this is his best work. I would for sure still read and look for other books by this author, even if you only like this book a little.
Love the story and once you get rolling it's hard to put down. For me it started a little slow but once it took off it was great. Can't wait for the next one.
Another incredible Dragon Slayer by Michael-Scott Earle with everything we love! Magic, dragons, treasures, battles against dangerous creatures... Great book!
Michael Scott Earle has become one of my favorite author. He writes in a gamer style from a viewpoint of a juvenile with a fantasy of being the sultan of a harem. The protagonists are super heroes, larger than life and no female can resist them. The writing style is fluent, the action is great and the characters are larger than life. Deep in our hearts we all would like to be like that, immune, irresistible and always willing to do the right thing. Recently Amazon suspended his author account and I urge everyone to rise and object to the high stand that Amazon has taken. MSE books are pure entertainment and deserve to be appreciated.
