Leif Andersson knows a lot of things. How to hunt terrorists, where to hide from his neurotic, overbearing sisters, when to make a reasonable judgement call, and why he’s never settled down with a woman. When a SEAL base opens in the small, coastal town of Bronze Bay, Florida, Leif knows it’s the perfect situation to shake things up after years of fighting a monotonous, global war. A simple place, to build a simple life turns out to be anything but when he meets and falls in love with her.
Dementia stole Malena Winterset’s mother. It also took her father. He abandoned them both a decade ago when the mental illness grew to be more than he could bear. As the primary caretaker for her mother, Malena spends her days planning parties and working at the Bronze Bay General Store. Her nights are spent at home, wishing for something more. When a SEAL base opens, a new, handsome face in town makes his presence known, but his affections come with rules.
1.) Two forms of birth control
2.) Never leave stuff at his place
3.) Be content to never meet his family
4.) Don’t fall in love with him
When the unthinkable happens, and three of the rules are shockingly, and accidentally broken, lives are changed forever.
At least Malena never left her toothbrush in his bathroom…
Rachel grew up in a small, quiet town full of loud talkers. Her words were always only loud on paper. She has been writing stories and creating characters for as long as she can remember. After living on the west coast for many years she now resides in Colorado with her husband, two children, her hairless cat, and her dog, Polly.
This was a cute story of Leif and Malena and how they decided to have fun with each other without the expectation of a serious relationship. But due to an unplanned pregnancy, Malena has to live with the consequences of her decision regarding her choices about the pregnancy. Will it bring them even closer or end their relationship?
The story was good, a sweet story of second chances. It was not as emotional and that is probably why I wasn't as impressed. Took longer to finish as some parts of the book were slow and not interesting. But, overall it was still worth the read.
AW man, y'all. You're gonna want this book. I'm not even sure where to begin with this one?? I mean, it had the alpha male that's all "No, I don't need no love thank you very much" and the girl that's like "I can't want love and I'm fine by myself." Then they meet, and there's that instant attraction that draws them together. There's no messing around with these two, they both have their rules.
They live by their rules.
Malena Winterset had to grow up a long time ago. Her mother developed dementia when she was young, which caused her bum father to leave. She works her butt off to take care of her mother and pay the bills, and she's got no time for love. When she meets Leif, she offers him all she can: one night.
Buuuuuut Leif isn't down for that. Something about Malena calls him to want more in a way he never has. Even when he's denying it to himself. Leif hasn't had the time or energy for a relationship. Between the Navy SEALs and his crazy intrusive family, all he wants is a little no-strings-attached fun. But he doesn't get it with Malena, because his heart beats "Mine" when he's around her. So he gives her the rules, tells her not to fall in love with him, and claims her.
But what happens when the rules are broken? Laughter, heartbreak, TEARS (JESUS WOMAN), and best of all: Love. Almost all their rules are broken (they made sure to clean up after themselves when they left each other's houses), but they're both happy about it. Well... sort of.
This book has everything you will need. It's heartbreaking, without too much angst. It's got a hot SEAL, who wants to take care of his girl. A woman who has been taking care of everything for so long, she accepts the help. (Don't get it twisted- she's still independent as HECK, but everyone needs help sometimes.) If you like some drama without it being super dramatic and taking up the whole book, then you will L-O-V-E this book. There's push and pull, but it's not the entire book. **All images are from freeimages.com and pexels.com and all fonts are from CreativeMarket.com. This book was a lot more than I expected it to be. I thought out was going to be the typical secret baby trope, but it was more than that. We got to see how Malena struggled with the loss of her dad, her mom having dementia, and her husband leaving her because she couldn't have babies. Then we see her and Leif come together and fall in love. The pace of the story went pretty well. Just a few parts in the middle of the book where it felt like it dragged.
Got pulled into this one way faster than I expected.
Leif and Malena start off keeping things casual and it works. Their connection feels easy and believable from the start. The flirting is fun and the chemistry is obvious without being overdone. I liked how neither of them was looking for more, yet it slowly shifts anyway.
Malena is strong but tired, and that came through clearly. Leif has his rules and thinks he has his life figured out. Watching both of them struggle with what they want versus what feels right kept me invested.
The surprise twist adds tension without turning the book into nonstop drama. It felt emotional but still grounded. The small town setting and side characters were a nice touch and made the story feel fuller.
I’ll start by saying Crazy Good is one of my very fav books..but this one did not work for me. I can do insta love, SEALS ✔️ and surprise babies are all good but the connection was missing for me. Not sure how everything got from point A to point B. Or Z...about 50% in I was more invested but sadly it just didn’t work for me.
Returning to Bronze Bay was everything I love in military romances. Rachel Robinson has this way of telling a story that covers a large time frame without it feeling like it is dragging or that the events occurring are too quick. Malena is an independent woman dealing with some major issues in a small town. When she meets Leif was like everything either of them ever wanted. Watching them navigate their feelings was just so beautiful. There was one part that was a little bit unbelievable but for the most part the story had me from start to finish.

“I’m not the type of man you fall in love with. I’m the kind of man you use for a bit and then toss.”
Leif Andersson is enjoying the slower, simpler pace of life he’s found since being stationed at one of the country’s newest SEAL bases in Bronze Bay, Florida. It’s just the break he needs after fighting in the global war that’s been going on the past several years. Bronze Bay seems like a place he could settle down in for good, especially after he lays eyes on the beautiful and charming Malena Winterset. Malena has been struggling to live her own life while trying to care for her mother who suffers from dementia. When Leif takes interest in her she enjoys having someone take care of her for a change. Leif’s affection comes with some rules, though, rules that Malena agrees with but when they find themselves breaking the rules one by one their lives will never be the same.
Leif just entered my bloodstream. With a kiss, he arrived and will never leave. His mouth left a stain on my soul.
It’s good to be back in Bronze Bay! I really enjoyed this story, it was sweet, sexy and way more emotional than I was expecting! I loved Leif, he was everything you would expect from a Navy SEAL but he was also a really sweet guy and I loved seeing him fall for Malena. I especially loved seeing him deal with his overbearing sisters. It was clear they all loved each other but his exasperation at their meddling was a lot of fun. I liked the fact that even though he was this big, bad Navy SEAL, to his sisters he was just their little brother. My heart went out to Malena, she hasn’t had the easiest road but she was so committed to doing right by her mother, it really was admirable. Malena and Leif were so great together, I loved seeing their relationship develop. I thought the pacing was great and their connection was so believable. Things take a highly emotional turn late in the book, it was unexpected but turned out to be so good! This was a hard book to put down, the story sucked me right in and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I hope we get more books set in Bronze Bay, it’s a great little town and you can never have too many SEAL stories (especially when they come from Rachel Robinson)!! If you’re looking for a sweet and sexy story with loads of heart, you need to check out this one!
“You’re a trap. One I’m still not sure fate didn’t set for me. Here in this place I never would have considered living,” he says, sighing.
Whenever I read a book by Rachel Robinson, I know I’m in for a treat. She’s definitely my go to author for military romance. I would even go as far to say she’s pretty much the queen of it-because I haven’t found any writing that compares to her stories. There’s absolutely nothing that can top her swoon worthy, protective alphas, her witty heroines, the “real life” drama, and the oh so satisfying HEA. Tossing it is no different, and Leif’s Book has definitely been a very anticipated story. We see flashes of him in other stories, so I was totally excited to get to know him better and watch the walls around his heart crumble. He was a complete sucker for Malena, someone looking for some fun after she spends so much time working and taking care of her dementia ridden mother. This book had a few of my favorite tropes, and it was just written so beautifully. Neither Leif nor Malena is looking for something serious, but those rules get thrown out the window when their red hot chemistry quickly evolves to both of them taking care of each other. Grab some tissues because there were some spots that had me weeping- but know this book is guaranteed to deliver just about every emotion. Most of all, I’m elated to say this book turned out utterly fantastic and I would definitely urge you to go pick this one up. - By Victoria
✨ Thank you to Rachel Robinson and Hambright PR for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. ✨
Tossing It is a sweet romance about two people finding love in the least likely place 🤍, facing emotional hurdles that feel insurmountable, and ultimately learning what truly matters most.
Leif Andersson is a Navy SEAL stationed in Bronze Bay, Florida, who wants nothing more than a simple life. When he meets Malena Winterset, he’s instantly drawn to her—but she has built strong emotional walls. Between work and caring for her mother, who has dementia, Malena has little room in her life for anything else. What begins as a no-strings-attached arrangement slowly evolves into something much deeper and more meaningful.
Rachel Robinson pulled at my heartstrings 🫶 and had me fully rooting for Leif and Malena. Read this if you enjoy alpha males learning to let go, heartfelt romance, and a love story that grows from casual to truly life-changing.
There’s just something about the way that Rachel Robinson writes her stories that I’m always just hooked from chapter one and Tossing It was no exception!
Leif Andersson and Malena Winterset both have obligations...one to his country, one to her mother. Neither of them are looking for love, romance, marriage or babies, but what they end up finding is so much more than what they ever expected. Leif and Malena’s journey is an emotional one and with one last mission that will take Leif away, everything is about to change yet again.
Leif and Malena were a wonderful couple and I really enjoyed watching their relationship blossom into so much more. Tossing It was full of fun and sexy banter and the sexy times...whew! I had to take a time out after those scenes! Tossing It was full of emotion, romance, add some drama to the mix and a HEA I didn’t see coming...fantastic!
This wasn't your typical surprise baby story, Leif and Malena wasn't what I expected but they were a delight. Loads of chemistry from the start and their banter is fun and real. It was fast but meaningful too. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
The baby part was just part of the interesting twist to their relationship I would say in that it affected how things played out. While I believe honesty could've made the drama less it also made them face their past and look forward to the future. Also a wake up for the them strive for something and was part miracle in the end. Leif and Malena were destined to be it all aligned in the stars.
Tossing It was a good take on suprise baby and hot alpha guy but with heart. It had a few emotional and heart warming ones too. I like the Bronze Bay small beach town setting and I look forward to the next book in this series.
Both Leif and Malena were great characters. I loved their initial meet and greet and how Leif kept pursuing her until she finally gave in. They had it all figured out, an arrangement that worked perfectly for them until it didn't.
"I'm not the type of man you fall in love with. I'm the kind of man you use for a bit and then toss."
I love Rachel's writing; I love how she knows what she's writing about, it makes it feel real. The only thing it was missing for me was I felt like the falling in love part wasn't there. Not that we couldn't tell they loved each other or feel their connection but the actual seeing it happen. It's hard to explain, but they went from an arrangement to being in love, and I just wish I saw them fall. After they fall is a different story, they have a spark and connection that is so sexy, sweet and HOT!
Then we have Leif's sisters, well the one especially, (Eva ) who was pretty obnoxious and created a bit of angst to the story.
Rachel brings her signature humor into this story and has you laughing one minute and the next slamming your book down.
The last forty percent of this book was five plus stars, I couldn't put it down. I had to find out what would happen. I'm so happy for the end she created. Rachel is a go-to author of mine, I know I will always be happy with what she puts out.
4.5⭐️ Book 2 - can be read as a standalone (I read it this way)
Leif & Malena 💙 A Navy SEAL hiding out in a quiet coastal town, grabbing a breather between missions… and Malena, a divorced, emotionally stretched thin, caretaker for her mother with dementia. She does not have time for a relationship.
What I loved most? The role reversal. She wants a no-strings, one-night stand. He wants more.
So they do what makes sense… They make rules. Clear. Simple. But when the chemistry is this intense? Those rules don’t stand a chance. 🔥
This was such a fast, addictive read. Small-town vibes, romantic suspense, a damaged hero, and twists I did NOT see coming. I picked it up “for a chapter” and suddenly I was done.
If you love: * Small town romance * Navy SEAL MMC * No strings attached (that don’t stay that way) * Romantic suspense * A wounded hero with a soft side …this one is absolutely worth the read. Couldn’t put it down 👀✨
This book was amazing! It was emotional, romantic, raw, full of drama and a HEA.
From chapter one, I couldn’t put it down. It pulled me in and had me needing to what happens next. The deeper I got into the book, the more I fell in love!
I will admit, it had me in tears a few times, but that’s how I know that this is a great book!
If you like emotional romances, with a bit of drama and a few twists this is the book to read. It’s a must read! I doubt you’ll be disappointed!
It was well written, easy to understand and picture it in your mind and the characters were described perfectly in my opinion!
This was my first book by this author and its not going to be my last!! I loved every single thing about this one. She weaved a story that hooked me from the very first page. The ups & downs kept me turning the pages right to the very end.
This book was given to me at my request and I provided this review voluntarily
This was sooooo good! This had me giggling, swooning then tearing up. Heads up this story was straight up gut wrenching and I legit thought it was going to have a very very sad ending! But it was so worth it! Malena and Leif were perfect, it was real and I could feel every part of their chemistry. Thank you to #HambrightPR and #RachelRobinson for the ARC! 🖤🖤🖤
I loved this book. It had romance, angst, drama, HEA and emotion. I cried reading this that to me makes it a great book. If a book can make me feel every emotion just by going through the chapters. Then its acheived what the author set out to do.
Clunky, choppy writing. Then there’d be parts when detail is being so over explained and exhaustive.
I usually have one good thing to say about a book, and I find none for this. Well…. I guess I did like the very end she Laif is woken by words said by Malena.
Thank you to Hambright PR for the gifted e-copy of this book.
Leif took the assignment in Bronze Bay because he needed a change. A little bit of a slower pace. Malena has been there for ages, working & taking care of her ailing mother.
They meet and hit it off, it’s a fun flirtation. She’s not in any position to dedicate herself to a relationship and he just doesn’t want one. So, mutually, they decide to just have fun with it. Enjoy each others company and bodies.
Then, before you know it, feelings happen. Bonds form between the families and it’s all very natural. They’re both on the same page, too. No complications, just them. And definitely no babies. Which isn’t a problem for her anyway since that’s why her first husband left her.
Surprise of the century happens, conveniently when he’s taken away on a super secret assignment across the nation. And now she’s left to wonder what to do.
Malena & Leif are a beautiful couple. What I liked most about them is that, they just sorta happened. And the twists are good! They kept me pulled in wanting more. Great secondary characters too <3
The last few chapters, and ending was far fetched. I can't say more without it being spoilers. This is definitely a story of insta-love, and stupid decisions. Editing needed tweaking.
Super fun and sexy banter Tossing It is SO Good!! Leif Andersson is a Navy Seal. When he relocates to Bronze Bay his very close (and maybe a little overbearing) family follows him there. Leif has an OTT loving family and his sisters Eva and Celia are amazing!! I immediately fell in love with them! Leif is not looking for romance. Especially in a small town where everyone knows your business.
“This place doesn’t leave any room for secrets, that’s for sure.”
Malena Winterset’s only family is a dad who ran off when the going got tough and her mom who’s Alzheimer’s is rapidly taking over both of their lives and getting too hard for Malena to handle at home.
“This is just a way to keep things less complicated. You said it yourself, relationships are complicated in a small town. Isn’t simplicity what you want?”
Both Malena and Leif may be looking for something without complications, but complications, surprises, and twists arrive at every turn.
“I may not be a good man, Malena, but I think I can be good for you.”
While this story is loaded with super fun and sexy banter, it also packs a wallop of an emotional punch that knocked me for a loop! Leif is definitely a hero to swoon for! -4.5Stars!!-
Y'all. I need a minute to compose myself. I picked up this gorgeous ARC and thought to myself, O.M.G., Rachel Robinson is so adorable on Facebook. Her family is so cute. This is going to be the cutest love story of all time. Little did I know, cutie pie Rachel was going to drag my heart through a roller coaster before allowing me to keep my heart in tact. This book is seriously ALL THE FEELS.
Story Line: Malena has it rough. Her mama has dementia. She's been divorced for a couple years because her ex is a complete jerkwad. And then there's Leif. Navy SEAL and totally delicious Leif. He doesn't want a relationship. He is devoted to his job and his job alone. But.... then he meets Malena. And all bets are off and all rules are ON. Ah, the rules. God, I loved this part. They were so organized about their arrangement. And you know what they say about rules? Totally meant to be broken. And boy, did they break them.
And their story doesn't end there. Oh no, because check out the cover. It's a secret baby romance. That's right y'all, Malena gets knocked up and, without giving too much away, has a real hard time telling Leif about it. Then there's the heart stopping ride after that. And the I can't breathe, this cannot be happening chapters after that. And then FINALLY the THANK YOU BABY JESUS moment. Intrigued? You should be.
Interaction: Malena's character is far from expected, at least in my opinion. I imagined her as a broken shell of a woman who is run ragged by her mother. But she's not. She's so strong and just a bit spicy. It's refreshing and empowering. My grandmother was moved into a dementia facility one year ago this month. It was the hardest decision my family had to do. But she had taken a drive to her friends house one day, started a big fight and next thing you know, the police are there and she's being taken away in an ambulance. It's hard to see her each week. Thankfully, like Malena's mom, she still recognizes me. She even remembers I had a baby 10 months ago. But then she thinks we are back in the 70's moments later. It's absolutely earth shattering to see a loved one like that. But Malena showed the world that we all have strength deep down - even when we are at our lowest. She's a tough cookie, but she's even better with Leif. When they throw the rules into the wind, that's when the unbreakable strength comes. Total power couple.
Laundry: So, I'm not gonna lie. The foreplay is almost just as hot as the laundry. Just saying. There are so many times that we think these two are finally going to seal the deal, and then NOPE. But it's that gradual lead up to the good stuff, that makes the laundry so much better. I mean, first of all, it's so tastefully well described, I swear to God I was watching the movie in my head. I felt their emotions and the sweat and the bed moving and yeah. WOW. I need a minute.
Depth: So the depth comes from Malena's past. But it also comes from Leif present day. I refuse to say more than that before I want you to have to go through the heart pumping, refusing to breathe until everything works out moments that I did. I'm so nice, right? But seriously. I did NOT see a few of these chapters/twists coming. But I would not ask to change a single thing. Malena and Leif's story was absolute perfection. It's definitely making it's way onto my top 10 of 2018 list.
Rachel, you wrote an epic love story with Malena and Leif. Their love is something even fairy tale princess's would be envious of. Thank you for writing a story about a love so deep, I will be feeling it in my soul for months to come.
We are back at Bronx Bay with another one of our navy seals Leif and our native, Malena. Leif being one of Tahoe’s military buddies, and Malena being one of Caroline’s friends from book one. I love that these books can be standalone 100%, but still in the same world. Malena is taking care of her mother who has dementia and picks up jobs here and there to pay medical bills for in-home nurse care. She doesn’t have room for anything serious in her life, especially a relationship. Leif is a navy seal who was known always for having a great sense of humor, and especially hounding Tahoe about his girl from Bronze Bay. His soul focus on his job and hunting the one man who got away in his career. A terrorist he wants nothing more than to see dead. When Malena and Leif meet at the jukebox one night at the local bar, jokes aside, she can’t even believe this man is talking to her. His insistence to take her to the beach and take a walk as her convinced he is a serial killer. Eventually leading to her agreeing to go with him after loving his sense of humor and charm, and a few compliments about her booty LOL giving the greenlight. A walk on the beach under the stars and two strangers learning about each each other, can be a safe space. A space that has Leif softening, and wanting to get to know this girl, like, really know her. But Malena lives with hesitation. Inviting him over where he can witness the chaos of her life. Knowing but hoping he may not run for the hills. Leif not only doesn’t run, he helps. She has been doing this all on her own and he can see her drowning so despite all his rules, he has set for himself. He wants to keep her in her chaos. So he changes the rules. Two kinds of birth control, no leaving stuff at his house, and no meeting his family. Oh yeah, and don’t fall in love with them. Obviously, she agrees since life is hard enough, and she can’t get pregnant. A failed marriage and the inability to get pregnant proved that. Leif did not plan to fall madly in love with this woman, though. This woman who is selfless and loves unconditionally and put her life and dreams on hold for her mom. And he gives her the world, and his whole heart. One thing about loving a man of service, is expecting the inevitable. So when Leif tell her he has to leave for a year to hunt the man he has spent hunting, she’s heartbroken. Two months into his mission Melina finds out she is pregnant. Her life spiraling. She isn’t supposed to be able to have kids! Throne not lost on her that she is finally pregnant with a man’s baby who never wanted kids in the first place. And she doesn’t want to ruin his life. But all miracles happen for a reason, and our destiny is written in the stars. Your reminder that life is worth living and fighting for beautifully written in these pages Racheal wrote another heartwarming strong story with our favorite Navy Seals from bronze Bay. Loved this book!!!!
There aren’t many books in this genre I remember a few days, sometimes even a few hours, after I read them. Crazy Good was one. This will be another. The primary thing that makes a book memorable for me is that it tells a good story and is populated by interesting and authentic characters. This series, set in a near future where we are fighting fighting a real war against organized terrorists at home, has multiple SEAL bases around the country, including the one set in this sleepy Florida coastal town. Marlena and Leif, a local and a newcomer, are an unlikely pair. She's caring for her mother who has developed dementia, and is dealing with the financial and emotional burdens that entails, as well as recovering from a failed marriage that was doomed by fertility issues. He is not interested in commitment of any kind, except his commitment to take out a specific terrorist leader, and must put up with with his nearby sisters and parents, who lovingly and relentlessly infect his life at every turn. Their relationship unfolds beautifully and in a way that seemed genuine to me. And I especially liked that the book didn’t just hit the climax and immediately end with a HEA - sometimes it appears that the authors themselves are tired of the story and want it to end. Marlena and Leif's story moves toward the ending in a way that is natural, a little gritty, and lovely at the same time. There seems to be a cottage industry that has developed around writing stories about these special warriors. Most construct fairly one dimensional characters with stereotypical traits. Not that the stories aren’t fun to read, but they are mostly forgettable. Ms. Robinson is the only one I’ve read whose heroes have indefinable qualities that make them real - somehow both unassuming and confident. Equally impressive are the women who capture their hearts. I suspect there is a reason for this, and that’s what makes her books stick around in the brain library, and her characters become old friends.
Malena Winterset does her best to take care of her mother who suffers from dementia. She works as a party planner and also at the General Store/diner to make ends meet. She is divorced from her high school sweetheart as he wanted kids and she wasn't able to have any.
Leif Anderson is a SEAL and is training in Bronze Bay when he meets Malena. Leif knows he has a dangerous job and therefore invokes a set of "rules" for dating when it comes to Malena.
As Malena and Leif grow closer rules tend to get broken but will they survive Leif's upcoming deployment for a year? When Malena discovers something about herself she seeks closure from Dylan but will she get what she is after or will everything unknowingly blow up in Malena's face?
Can Malena make everything right again before it's too late?
This was such a great book with a few twists and turns to make you wonder what was going to happen next.
I thought Malena was such a great character and I loved that she was so dedicated to her mom and wanted to do her best as she couldn't afford one of the best homes to keep her in. I felt so bad for the incident when she forgot to set the alarm and her mom got out. I thought Malena was lots of fun but also responsible and I wasn't surprised what happened to her and I definitely did not fault her on it.
Leif was such an awesome alpha male but I must admit that his rules were a little intimidating and I can see why Malena was afraid to let him know what was going on. I thought it was so amazing that he was paying for Malena's mom and I thought it was almost contradictory to his rules.
I was so mad at Leif's sister, Eva, for interfering and causing so many problems. She was the reason everything went sideways and she has a lot to make up for. I was grateful for his other sister Celia who at least listened to Malena and learned the truth about everything.
The end was awesome and this was a great story and I'd love to see these characters again!
