Botanical artist and Instagram sensation Flora Forager makes her children's picture book debut with this imaginative alphabet book featuring real and imaginary animals created with natural materials gathered from her botanical foraging in wild places and from her garden.
Bridget Beth Collins, known as Flora Forager on Instagram, has created her beautiful children's book debut from natural materials gathered from her botanical foraging where she makes her home in the Pacific Northwest. Children will be fascinated by her amazing botanical creations, from angel fish to zebra, and inspired to learn their ABCs.
I simply adore Bridget Collin's Flora Forager Botanical Artwork. I love following her work because it's so unique, detailed, and uplifting. For anyone who isn't familiar, her art is created by arranging flower petals, grass, seeds, and other foragings to create all sorts of intricate portraits, animals, landscapes, and more. I thought it was brilliant of her to put together an ABC collection of animal-themed art, and I jumped at the chance to get this gorgeous book into my hands! I have absolutely no shame in admitting that I bought it to read myself, a 26-year-old woman who doesn't have any kids yet or work with children professionally, haha! Bridget's art is just that lovely! And as an animal and plant lover, you really can't go wrong with paging through her petal portraits of creatures great and small. I plan to leave this book out as a coffee table read for friends and family to enjoy, as I really think it can be appreciated by people of all ages! And I can definitely see reading it to my future kiddos. An altogether beautiful piece!
I really liked this book. I thought it was a good way to introduce STEM and the alphabet through plants and animals. However, I found the use of the Dragon and Unicorn mixed in with real animals confusing for kids. If the author would have had a more balanced mix of fantasy creatures and living, I could get behind it but it just seemed really random.
In this uniquely illustrated book, each letter of the alphabet is represented by a different animal with is made using flower petals, leaves, twigs, and other items found in nature. This one is sure to inspire creative kiddos to make their own nature illustrations.
