Biscuit wants to play with two kittens. However, the kittens are too busy to notice him. But when the kittens need help, it’s Biscuit to the rescue! Woof! Woof!
Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.
Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.
SUPER FAST REVIEW: Okay so unfortunately Chloe (my dog) didn’t seem to care for this one as much as the previous Biscuit books... she growled at Biscuit playing with the kittens. I personally loved it though! The story is adorable as always, I love the artwork, it’s surprisingly suspenseful towards the end, I still love the characters a lot and the ending may be the sweetest thing I’ve ever read. Yeah I highly recommend this series, it’s so cute!
I love the Biscuitverse. Everyone is cute and round and fluffy and nothing hurts - especially in this one, which has two (2) kittens! Also, they're great for emergent readers. That's probably important too.
I read this to two preschool classes. Both classes were adamant that Biscuit would not want to play with kitties. They also were sure that Biscuit was going to climb the tree to help the kitties get down. It was entertaining.
Biscuit meets Daisy's two kittens and is eager to play with them. They don't pay much attention to Biscuit until he comes to their rescue. Another enjoyable easy-to-read Biscuit story.
This is the classic child tale of biscuit a puppy who loves to play with any and everything first biscuit finds daisy and the kitten and then he wants to play with them then he finds a ball and want to play with that the kittens get stuck in a tree and biscuit gets help to get them down then they all play together. I love the illustrations in this timeless book the sweet colorful drawings of the puppy and the kittens really help draw the kids in. I think that the book can be used when assessing a child learning level in the classroom
Biscuit is adorable as always. In this edition, he finds two kittens and wants to play with them. When the kittens get into trouble, biscuit is there to save the day. My kids loved this one more than any other biscuit book they’ve read so far.
Another addition to the Biscuit series (this time with kittens!). Repetitive words and corresponding illustrations are great for an emerging/beginning reader.
Biscuit, a cute puppy, wants to play with two little kittens, but they ignore him until they need to be rescued. Very simply written for beginning readers. Pretty illustrations.

Biscuit Wants to Play is a book about a curious young puppy with a big heart. He discovers some kittens and only wants to play with them. At first, they are not in a hurry to play with Biscuit, but once the kittens get into trouble Biscuit comes to their rescue. The illustrations really help the reader connect with the innocence of Biscuit just wanting to play with the kittens.
This book puts into perspective that even though cats and dogs are not supposed to like each other they can get along. To put this into a more realistic point of view, even know you may not think you are going to like someone you still need to get to know them before you make that judgment. This is a very good message to relay to children because they need to know to not judge a book by its cover. Get to know someone before you make that assumption.
This would be a great book for beginning readers to read in a literature circle or even in partners. After having the kids read the book have them talk amongst each other about what the book was about, and what their favorite part was. If you do a literature circle idea with this book it will get the kids thinking a little more in depth about the book.
Biscuit Wants to Play has a lexile rating of 20L this would be a good read aloud for kindergarten or first grade, and students should be able to independently read this book by beginning of first grade.
Personal Reaction- This book is really cute and I think that children who are dog lovers and cat lovers will really enjoy this book. This book shows the personalities of dogs and cats, which makes it really fun and enjoyable to read. This is a very good beginning to read book, because of its big fount and simple language.
Read aloud- This book does not have any beneficial value to read it aloud because it lacks a strong storyline.
Independent reading. This is a very good beginning to read book for students that are beginning to read. The book uses big fount, and very simple words. There are also very few words on each page as well as repetitive words such as woof, meow, Biscuit, and kittens. Beginning readers will find this book very enjoyable and feel a since of accomplishment when they are able to finish the book on their own.
Literary elements- This book lacks a strong plot, theme, characterization, setting, conflict, and tone, which does not make it a good book for teaching any of these elements.
The illustrations are adorable. The story is a bit repetitive so might not be for every reader. If they're obsessed with puppies and kittens, it might be all they need to enjoy the read.
Reading Level: 1st - 2nd grades

I don't know what it is about these books. They are short, simple stories for beginning readers with adorable illustrations, but they make me twitch. I think it's the fact that there's a "Meow" or a "Woof" on every page. It just irritates me, but our girls seem to like it. We read these books together and I encourage them to read as much as possible.
great childrens book, fun to just read for enjoyment. It definitly is an easy read for early elementary school students. There are plenty of sight words so they can read the book themselves with minimal help. This is more like a great starter book.
