This is full of very cute babies reading books and at storytime and having snacks. The illustrations have some fun easter eggs too. But I can't help but feel like this is about a library not a bookstore! Bookstores do not let you hang out all day and sprawl on the floor reading books, especially of you are a little one likely to drool on, tear, or otherwise damage the book.
Target bookstore employees - done. A celebration of reading with the retail slant, could just have easily been libraries or my house... The illustrations are cute and the look and find aspect is a nice add on.
Our local bookstore had a stack of these board books hanging out on their children’s table and it looked too good to pass up. While it does leave you wishing you were actually at a real bookstore, it does fit the bill for a good read and was a welcome addition to our library.
Moral: Shop local and avoid Amazon and its subsidiaries.
Length: Long enough to have your child learn to love the bookstore, but short enough there will still be surprises there.
Favorite Line: “Bookstore babies are adventurous.”
Overall Impression: Sometime in the Internet boom, we all decided Amazon, Oprah and the New York Times should curate our tastes and preferences and it led to community bookstores being Target and Walmart. This book does not describe those big box locales and instead features that small town small business or little bookshop on the corner in a Central Business District. We love our local bookstore and we’re very happy to raise Mavis enjoying it even more. This book starts that process.
I found this adorable baby bibliophile board book at the Boerne Bookshop (say that ten times, haha) during a day trip with my mother-in-law. It mentions all kinds of activities babies can do in bookstores. I love that the last page has interactive activities and questions to engage creativity and learning.
I thought this book was really fun. My mommy read it to me and I was fascinated with the pictures. We hunted for the hidden things on all the pages and I only chewed on the corner for a second. This board book was a fun read and very tasty!
Actually read a few days ago, but oh well. Love that there's plenty of things to point out in illustrations like shapes and numbers, adding a lot of reread value.
Do you like this book? It's so cute!! It has babies and a kitty! I love babies and kitties!
What's your favorite part of the book? When the babies are petting the kitty and when the momma was reading to the baby, like you read to me! I like when you read to me.
What do you think of the cover? There's a kitty! I love kitties.
This book so super adorable! Every time we turned the page Finn was going "Awe it's so cute! Awe! Awe! Awe!" It was so cute. Of course this is a board book and is a bit under Finn's level. It didn't stop him from loving it. And he even brought it to me to read instead of me asking him to come read it.
The artwork is adorable, the colors are beautiful, and I love how there's a section at the end that shows how to make the book more interesting and interactive.
I can't wait until I have a baby I can read this to!
