Lucifer in love is one of my favorite romance tropes!

I like stories about Lucifer, especially when he comes to earth and gets interested in a woman. We all sort of want that, you know. To be the one that really stands out and holds the interest of the most powerful and baddest of all the bad boys. And just think if you could really be the one he fell for?

This story has all the magic that is Lucifer, of course he is only interested in Diana because he made a deal with her. He cured her Fathers cancer in return for three months of Friday nights with him beginning at Midnight each Friday. If he is able to corrupt her pure soul in that time, it belongs to him forever and will be valuable in holding the gates of Hell closed. Corrupted pure souls are extra powerful for that apparently.

What I really like about these stories is the background about fallen angels and Lucifer. It all seems so unfair to me. You know. It does really make God seem like a huge Dick. I mean if you look at God as the Father and Angels an Humans as like half brothers and sisters. So Lucifer was jealous of his half siblings and started a fight at home. So Dad kicks him out forever and sends him to Hell never to be heard from again. Harsh Punishment for a Dad who is supposed to be all about forgiveness, right?

Anyway I like how Lucifer isn’t truly evil himself, he is just the one that has the job of punishing the evil doers. He has to keep the demons in Hell also. Angels and Fallen are all about pleasure, like sex, greed, entertainment etc. It is just when they do too much and hurt others that the fallen turn into demons and then Lucifer has to put them to work in Hell.

Diana: Stop texting me. I’m about to go to the grocery store, and I won’t text and drive, not even for you. By the way, I hate emojis.
Asshat: The person who created emojis has a spot reserved in my workplace. Don’t worry, he’ll get his comeuppance.

Good book overall, though the ending might have been a bit too Pretty for me!

Fabulous read!!! I loved this first book Emma's castle ! Its a little like the tv show Lucifer as in the devil is a total bad boy and falls for a human woman and Lucien star does run a night club and has become very jaded and only cares about dark pleasures, but that's were the similarities end. Lucien has always felt the loss of being a fallen angel and being sent to deal with evil and reign as the king of hell and knowing that their is no hope of redemption. So he has lived for thousands of years making deals to keep those in hell where they belong. When Diana's father is dying from cancer she will do anything to save her father and so starts the bargain between Lucien and her. Every Friday at midnight for 3months Diana must come to Lucien and submit to him physically. Lucien must corrupt her pure soul so that when she dies her soul will go to hell to help strenghthen the walls.

This is a totally erotic read with hot sex and romance and has humor and a wonderful storyline. If you like sexy dark hero's Midnight With The Devil is your read! I promise you that you'll enjoy all his tortures, I know I did!💖💋👄

So I finally got out of my reading slump (mostly) and picked up Midnight with the Devil by Emma Castle who is a new to me author. I honestly don't know what to rate this book. I'm beyond confused right now and tbh I feel a little cheated at the abrupt ending with was more like an 'almost HEA' instead of a proper 'Happily Ever After.'

PlOt:

I fell in love with the devil but he'll never know

Diana's father is dying of cancer so when she meets a mysterious stranger who offers to save her father in exchange for her soul after death and her Friday's for three whole months, she agrees. Later, she thinks all of it was a dream and doesn't believe that she had actually made a deal with the devil until her father is well now, and a letter arrives at her doorstep.

I love you Diana. Always and Forever

Lucien Star a.k.a Lucifer Morningstar, needs a pure soul to keep the gates of hell intact and strong. He finds Diana, who has a pure soul and offers her a deal he knows she won't refuse. He plans to corrupt her in those three months, but doesn't anticipate falling for the beautiful mortal.

Everything was fine until the first 50% or should I say 90%? Cuz what felt like should've been a fifty percent mark, was actually the end of the book. I feel so cheated rn because the ending didn't make sense. I mean I got the ending and also where the author was going with it but I still can't help but feel cheated.

The whole "Diana's purpose was to make Lucifer fall for her so that he would return" was ironic really. He fell from heaven because he feared that his fathers love for mortals would overpower his love for him which led to anger and resentment which led to him falling, only to fall once again but this time, to fall in love with said mortal and to die (not really, like almost) and lose his memories (more like reborn)

As for the 'I feel cheated' part, the ending was very abrupt. And their HEA was more like an 'almost HEA' because none of them remembered their past anymore! It just doesn't make sense!

I'll admit that the story started off really well and had me intrigued but after that....nothing.nada

I still feel that my copy has missing pages cuz this wasn't an ending! Not to mention that the 'entire story' (or half of it or whatever) was wrapped up in 1 and a half pages which just left me with a lot of questions!

Anyway, I think I'm still thankful for this book has removed me (I think) from the reading slump I've been in the past few days.

I'm not sure if I really would recommend this book (unless your copy has the missing pages in mine), but this book fail wont stop me from further reads by this author!

(P.S: the 'love' declaration quotes? They never told each other! and even if they did, the other never knew cuz Diana was dying when Lucien said it and as for Diana, she thought it as Lucien could read her thoughts but he was too busy making a "Diana gets to live, if I come back" deal with God...soooo..🤷🏻‍♀️)

(P.P.S: They end up together but none of them remember each other! Lucifer is reborn as another person, who takes Diana to the hospital when she's like dying and after that in the epilogue, which btw was of a whole 1 and half page, they are married! Which just led to more questions and this book being a whole big 'meh' for me.)

I'm embarrassed for the narrator...

This belongs on a fanfiction website somewhere. It's so clearly a fan reimagining of the show Lucifer, it's not even trying to hide it; the hero's name is Lucien Star, aka Lucifer Morningstar. It's on the blurb I stupidly didn't read.

This wouldn't be such a bad thing if the writing wasn't so cringe. I felt sorry for the narrator having to read the lines with a serious voice...

I don't think this author will be for me. I had her Tarzan retelling on my TBR, but I'm also dropping it.

An Ok-read for me.

Many things reminded me of the tv-series "Lucifer". The Hero's name, his club, his penthouse, his drinking habit and his past love/sex-life. A bit unoriginal, lacking creativity and newness. It was a bit boring.

The story was all right I guess. The writing lacked a bit. It was all a bit rushed and superficial. There was no real connection/feeling to any of the characters or their relationship.

Lucien/Lucifer the Hero wasn't really that badass or sexy. He had his powers, and promised wicked and delighted things. The promise wasn't delivered. It was very "light" in comparison. He's supposed to have experienced it all in the bedroom area with lots of different women and sometimes men. And all he could come up with was handcuffs and a pantyhose? I'm disappointed.

The Heroine was ok. I didn't really get to know her. She loves her family deeply and has some "dark" fantasies that she never allowed to fulfill. Until Lucian.

The ending was sweet. Epilogue 6 years later with a HEA. I didn't really like the twist, but I guess it wouldn't work otherwise.

Safe read. No OW/OM drama at all. Heroine wasn't a virgin. Hero a manwhore, but there's no explicit mention of his past. No separations.

Diana is in the hospital chapel on the last night of her father's life when the devil offers her a deal. Sell your soul and I will save your father. It's an intriguing storyline. It's got that forbidden fruit aspect that I have to admit is what drew me in.

I've never read this author before so I took a gamble to see if this could be something for me. I enjoy a dark read, but not too dark. Having Satan as the Hero, the author could take this to the darkest level she wanted to.

I've found that I like Emma Castle's writing and the way she can tell a story. However, I was surprised to find that this book wasn't dark at all. It's actually a very safe read. I did enjoy the way the book turned out and I wasn't expecting that ending.

It's actually a very sweet love story. I think that sweetness took the forbidden aspect that drew me in the first place, out of the equation. I wanted this to be just a tad bit darker and for Lucian to have more of a dark intensity to him and how he was with Diana.

I think expectation can change how you view a book so if you're expecting dark, this is not it. I would like to come back to this book another time and re-read it. I think going in knowing how sweet it is, I'll enjoy it more the second time around. ARC provided by NetGalley.

Wow, what a treat this was! I had no idea this was a paranormal book going in and that the H would actually be the devil. But I read the whole thing in one sitting, I enjoyed it that much. It had a bit of beauty and the beast, Phantom of the Opera and even a bit of twilight all mixed in together. I thought this was going to be alot darker, but it turned into quite the romantic novel. Highly recommend for someone looking for a misunderstood possessive bad boy.

Safety:
100% Safe
-Very light BDSM; only a bit of bondage.
-No OW/OM drama or other people after meeting.
-Heroine wasnt a virgin and had "her fair share" BUT the hero was a manwhore. Its described he did "every sexual fantasy imaginable" but other than that there were no other details and you never meet any of his ex bed mates. He mentions in his inner monologue how refreshing the h is form OW quiet a few times.
- Betraying body alert, but it didnt bother me as much because the H has super natural powers that allowed him to seduce the h.
-HEA- the H gives his life as the devil up to save the heroines and then gets reincarnated into a human.

I normally avoid paranormal romance but this book intrigued me with its "fallen angel" theme and I wanted to try it. And once again, I couldn’t find what I was looking for... It could be me or it could be the book, I cannot be sure but let me try to explain...

The first thing that bothered me was the fact that the book was too similar to the TV series "Lucifer"; hence, lack of originality.

The hero has the same name and he also owns a night club. The way he acts and lives his life all reminded me of this TV series.

The TV series Lucifer was interesting at the beginning but later I got bored and never continued to watch it. The same thing happened with this book, unfortunately ☹ but I did finish the book since it was really short!

The writing of the book lacked something – maybe it lacked some soul. It felt so very superficial. It didn’t make me feel. I was never able to connect to the characters or feel what they were feeling. I think this is where the book fails – the relationship, their feelings etc were not developed. It was suddenly all there and I couldn’t feel it. Maybe because the book deals with lots of things such as Lucifer's background story, how he fell, what his life is like now and what his duties are and 190 pages were far from being enough to deal with all of these things plus the love story. A tough plot like this should not be rushed.

The book is said to be very sexy but I do not think so. Their intimate scenes felt very superficial, too. It lacked passion and chemistry. Lucifer constantly promises wicked pleasure but again it all fails and you only get some light bondage.

The twist was something I expected because there is no other HEA with the devil, you know, but that doesn’t mean I liked it.

All in all, this was sadly a disappointing and boring reading experience for me.

I MEAAAANNNN The writing wasn't for me. It felt a bit slow but I really liked the concept and it got kind of romantic comedy in the end. 3.5 stars for me though. The ending was kind of unbelievable lol with the deal to get back to her

What the hell just happened!?!? I'm flat-out ugly crying at the end of this book!!! Like bawling so hard I'm scaring my kid!!! I did NOT expect this ending. It's at least 90% possible I was moved by the audiobook, but I can't be sure. Warning.... this is a NON-TRADITIONAL ending (which I also didn't expect)!!

Diana (annoying as hell) seeks comfort in the hospital's chapel after visiting her father, who is dying from cancer. She gets a visit from Lucien Morningstar aka - Lucifer. He makes her an offer - be my plaything once a week for 3 months and he'll cure her dad. Since it seems like a simple task - she agrees. They discover that the longer they're together, the more real their feelings get. Things seem cool until Lucien realizes his powers are weakening. Yada yada, some things happen, I didn't see that coming, then sort of an HEA. I don't like non-traditional HEAs so it wasn't happy for me.

So, this snuck up on me outta left field. No joke guys - I was concerned for my own well-being.

DIANA: I didn't like Diana - AT ALL. She was annoying as hell. Even up until the 80% mark, she was still asking the stupidest questions. He would literally zap them to another place, and then the next time he'd do it she was, "how did you do that?! we can't be here! how is that possible?!?" Heifer - he's Lucifer!! He can do whatever he wants!! Then he snapped his fingers and his shirt changed. One chapter later and he does something similar and she's like, "how did you get those clothes?!" How the hell do you think he got them??!! It was that way throughout.

SEX: It's decent. Two times were REALLY hot for me. The first and last time. There were at least 3 sexy scenes, which is always appreciated.

LUCIEN: Of course I loved him!!! He actually does some really cute things in the book. There were several times where I thought ok I actually like this.

AUDIO: Jeremy York narrates and if you haven't heard him before - he has this really slow way of talking. I can't even describe it. It's kind of like he's a stoned sloth. All of his words are soft and long - if that even makes sense. Up until the very end, I wouldn't have felt that the audio would sway my feelings on the book, but at the end, that changed. Maybe I just reacted strongly because I was hearing things in another person's voice?? Who the fuck knows.

NON-TRADITIONAL: I would have never read/listened to this if I had known it was going to be like this. This is a spoiler. Be warned - this is literally the end of the book and if you read this, you'll know how everything ends. I knew there was going to be a decision or sacrifice that had to be made, but I didn't know it was going to be a tear-jerker kind of ending.

When I tell you I cried - I'm fucking serious. I cried so hard. Personally - I don't recommend because I don't like books that make me cry. LOL

You might like it though.

3.7 stars. This was both hot and intense. I did enjoy that the main love intresset was "bad to the bone" but still enjoyable to read about. However the fact he was the devil, Lucifer in all his glory, did in all honesty make me a bit uncomfortable. I'm not very religious but it feelt a bit too wrong. But because it was written by Emma Castle it's its still one of a hell kind of book haha

*3 DEVILISH STARS*

I had high hopes for this one, but I’m sad to say I’m slightly disappointed.
This seemed like a bit of a rip-off from the tv show “Lucifer” at times, starting with Lucien’s name and the fact that he owns a club and all that.

I loved the concept and it started off real good with the whole ‘deal with the devil’ and trying to get Diana to the dark side. The way this was described, I just expected it to be a lot darker than it actually ended up being.
The way they fell in love so quickly (I’d almost call it insta-love and we all know I don’t like that) just didn’t add up at all. Lucien is supposed to be the devil and thus super old, badass and powerful but I found him to be pretty tame in all aspects (even in the bedroom). I just wanted something more I guess.

Received a free copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Okay, here we go:
- The characters
Diana and Lucien, the devil, Lucifer, whatever the hell his name was (lol).
This series is supposed to be one of Unlikely Heroes but the devil felt nothing like that. He does no evil, he's as innocent as an angel? Which is very much emphasized in this book, the whole "fallen angel" that is desperate to go back to his grace thing. No. I thought this was gonna be devious and morally questionable, I wanted something more like The Four Horseman series, were the "hero" is not really a hero up until the end. Diana was also very shallow and none of them had really much depth if you ask me.

- The writing
It felt really simplistic and very bland. Nothing really memorable.

- The plot and the pace
Awful. The deal they made is supposed to push the plot forward and it does when it comes to their romance but the reason the devil chose a pure soul (like Diana's) is to reinforce the gates of hell. And that plot point is disregarded so quickly and easily that truly, what was the point of it.
SPOILERS AHEAD
And that ending???? Don't get me started. What the fuck?
Diana has an accident and the devil trades his life/immortality to save her but he's reincarnated (without his awareness) into a human that stumbles upon the place were the accident happened. This Lucas guy gets out of his car to help the people that are injured and he and Diana have this exchange: “My name is Lucas. I’m here to help. Stay with me, beautiful,” he said. She smiled dazedly. “You think I’m beautiful?”
WHAT. THE. FUCK. I won't comment further, it does so for itself.

I loved this!

Diana is a good girl. But to save her father’s life she makes a deal with the devil, Lucien aka Lucifer. She will be his every friday night for 3 months. His intention was to make a bad girl out of this good girl.
Lucien was a very intriguing and interesting character.

And I loved the way the book ended. Perfect.

This was surprisingly sweet and it made me smile. It's weirdly a feel good story when I thought I was getting into something dark. It wasn't dark at all. Lucien was really only the devil in bed. 🔥 🔥🔥 Happy reading!

Ok this review is definitely going to be spoilery, but I personally would want to know this information before reading this book so...

I personally do not think that this book had an hea. The parallel universe/amnesia thing that happened was bullshit in my opinion. I do think the book could have been saved if I liked the rest of the story more, but it was just an ok read for me. Nothing really stood out in the reading experience. I felt like the story was made up of one meeting per week between the H and h, where they talked a little and then had sex. The book was at times cute but the cuteness was not enough. That being said I am still interested in Emma Castle's books (I already own two others, so might as well give them a go)

Diana gets more than she bargained for when she made a deal with the devil. She falls in love! Lucien, the devil himself, is erotic and surprisingly romantic....

This book was borderline bizarre and silly, but it was definitely interesting and steamy! It’s short and sweet and strange. There’s the devil and his reluctant job duties, there’s a guardian angel and then there’s innocent Diana caught in the middle.

It was a cute concept and an entertaining read in a far-fetched way. Very quick read.

Completely unexpected!! What a great book. A refreshing change from the same old story line. I didn’t know what to expect when I started to read it. Come on now, it’s the actual Devil?!!!! But this is so Well written, it completely made sense. It’s proof that love can conquer all and even the most evil have a good side.

This was such a sweet love story, utterly heartwarming. It has been quite a while since I cried reading a book but Lucien just pulled all the right heartstrings. I just loved how Lucien and Diana's love manifested.
