Football School Season Three: Where Football Explains the World, is a book all about, can you guess it? Football! The book explains everything about the sport whilst going through day to day subjects you will find at school. There is even a handy timetable at the beginning for you.
The book takes you through different classes such as: Biology, English, physics, zoology, politics, PSHE, history, maths, geography, chemistry, fashion, design and technology, and even a school trip. Throughout these lessons, you will learn how football isn’t just a sport but can help you with almost anything. Whilst in the classes they have a range of things to learn about, from watching paint dry to footballers feet – Ewww.
I really liked this book as it was interesting and showed a different side to football, not just what happens on the pitch. Each subject intrigued me and I love how they made sport educational by adding little facts here and there.
As you can tell this is the third book in a series – Being Season Three. I have read season One and The Amazing Quiz book they also brought out. I really need to read the other book in the series that I missed, Season Two.
For those that love football, this is a great book for gaining valuable knowledge in a fun and exciting manner. The drawings are also fascinating to look at too.

I really like this book and I’m not even a fan of football! ‘Football School Season 3’ is another great book in the series which teaches you all about various different things, some football related and others not. The book has text and lots of illustrations around the text which add to the humour and fun feel of the book.
Set out like a school with lessons, the book begins with a short introduction by the two authors, who are illustrated throughout, and then a timetable of lessons, each lesson being a chapter of the book. The format is the same as the other two seasons of Football School and this time we have lessons like Zoology, Politics, Fashion and even a school trip! Each chapter is set out in the same format, first there’s lots of interesting information, usually sorted out into small sections and littered with funny pictures and then there is a quiz at the end of each lesson with five questions on the subject you’ve just been reading about. Unlike school books though, this is about football and each chapter gives us lots of funny and silly facts about the world of the sport and beyond.
There are lots of new things to learn this time, including how the bones, tendons, ligaments and muscles are structured in the foot, the various interesting facts about the different regions of Spain and some customs and interesting facts about their football teams, the different football kit styles in history (including some really wacky looking shirts!), and my favourite subject: all the different animals teams in Africa use for their names. These of course just being a few of the interesting things that you can learn. The book is so fun, none of it ever feels boring and even though I’m not a football fan myself, I found it so interesting to read and I picked up lots of new information, some of it not even football related!
The illustrations, which are black white and grey, are dotted throughout the book making each section and piece of information more funny, just by the picture itself. Although all the facts are interesting themselves and the fun quizzes at the end have some funny answers and questions, this book just wouldn’t be that funny if it weren’t for the brilliant illustrations which all take on a cartoonish feel. They really make the book so fun and I look forward to seeing them in every Football School book.
This book is amazing, for the first time there is a school trip and the various subjects feel even more fun than in previous books. There’s still plenty of silly facts, a few a bit icky, among more serious ones but what I like about this book isn’t just the football facts, although that is the main feature. The reason I like this book and the whole series is because it doesn’t just focus on football, it gives information that’s not about football too, like about countries, and biology, but it’s all done with football in mind, and somehow each subject can be linked back to football, and I think the books may be slowly bringing me around to football too!

I received a free copy of this book from LibraryThing Early Reviewers in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun little book that I would have really enjoyed when I was growing up. I've always been a football (soccer) fan, so this still made it fun to read today. This book is filled with lots of trivia, jokes, quizzes, and much more. Sometimes it was of the corny nature that my younger self would really have enjoyed, but I still found myself chuckling a lot all the same.
There are other books in this series, but this is the first one I have read. This is a great read for the young soccer fan in your life and who knows, you may enjoy it yourself!

After reading books 1 and 2, I had to get this book. I loved books 1 and 2 and I expected number 3 to be the same. It was, I really enjoyed this book. I managed to finish in 2 days. My favourite chapter was the history part. It taught me how professional football started. Without William Prest and Nathaniel Creswick, football probably wouldn't have been as popular as it is now. It would probably just be a sport you play at school. Before William and Nathaniel started Sheffield United Football Club, football had only been played in schools.
Hope to buy the 4th one soon.

I had zero expectations when beginning this series but was pleasantly surprised! These books are jam packed with trivia and knowledge all presented in a lighthearted and very appealing way! I would highly recommend for reluctant readers as well! PS Not just for soccer fans!
