L.A. Witt and her husband have been exiled from Spain and sent to live in Maine because rhymes are fun. She now divides her time between writing, assuring people she is aware that Maine is cold, wondering where to put her next tattoo, and trying to reason with a surly Maine coon. Rumor has it her arch nemesis, Lauren Gallagher, is also somewhere in the wilds of New England, which is why L.A. is also spending a portion of her time training a team of spec ops lobsters.

Authors Ann Gallagher and Lori A. Witt have been asked to assist in lobster training, but they "have books to write" and "need to focus on our careers" and "don't you think this rivalry has gotten a little out of hand?" They're probably just helping Lauren raise her army of squirrels trained to ride moose into battle.

Adam Jacobsen was a struggling actor about to give up his Hollywood dreams and head back to his dead-end small town existence, when a chance encounter with a stranger gave him the motivation he needed to go into one more audition and give it his all. That fateful encounter resulted in Adam’s big break and changed his life forever.

Five years later, Brian Stewart is watching a film awards ceremony on television with his friends when Hollywood heart-throb Adam Jacobsen wins the coveted prize and proceeds to give a heartfelt acceptance speech that leaves Brian breathless – a speech in which Adam dedicates all his success to a kind stranger for encouraging him so many years ago.

Soon enough the media is abuzz with speculation and everyone wants to know who this person is that the Adam Jacobsen so emotionally called out in his speech. Brian knows he’s the person Adam is referring to, and even though the idea of being in the spotlight terrifies him to no end, he makes the decision to reach out to Adam using social media, if only so Adam knows he’s out there and that Brian heard what Adam had to say.

With the media’s push, Adam and Brian are reunited for the first time in an emotional live interview on a morning talk show. One more encounter is not enough, though, and soon Adam and Brian are secretly contacting each other and organising a weekend visit in which Adam will sneak up to Seattle to visit Brian where he now lives.

Both men set out to reconnect and chat about the whirlwind of their situation, with the hopes of potentially building a new friendship, but it doesn’t take long for Adam and Brian to realise that what they feel for one another goes far beyond the bounds of simple friendship.

Brian and Adam share a sizzling chemistry and being together is as easy as breathing, but making a relationship work when one half of the couple is a Hollywood superstar is an uphill battle that might prove insurmountable. They know they can’t keep their relationship a secret forever, if for long, considering the crazy fame-monster surrounding Adam’s life and the fact that Brian hates being in the spotlight, but their love comes quickly and intensely, so the real challenge is working out how much each man is willing to change and accept about each other’s lives if they truly want to be together.

It can’t be denied, I really enjoyed this story. Those first few chapters really got me. I loved witnessing Adam and Brian’s initial encounter and then watching Brian’s reaction years later to Adam’s highly emotional and personal dedication to the stranger that changed his life. I got a bit teary over the whole thing, I won’t lie, which is a pretty huge feat because at that point I barely even knew the characters or what they’d become together – it’s such a Hollywood dream scenario and I LOVED the initial set-up and how it played out.

I would have been heading towards 5 star territory, but as a few other reviews have mentioned, things dragged a little in the middle there, with a few conversations and scenes becoming a bit repetitive. I tend to find this to be a regular experience for me when reading stories by Witt. Even though I end up loving the stories more often than not, I come away with this sense that if the story had been shortened somehow, the pacing would have been a lot better.

Nevertheless, this was one of my favourite reads by Witt to date and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good Hollywood romance trope. Honestly, Adam and Brian’s sweet and sexy love story won’t be one I’ll be forgetting anytime soon.

This one started out well, but once Brian and Adam reconnected, I do feel they jumped into a relationship too soon. I wasn't feeling it. Then the story started dragging for me. In addition to that, I'm not interested in Adam's Hollywood celebrity status.

I did enjoy the audiobook.

It was so easy to get completely caught up in this story. It had good writing, a solid plot, and extremely likeable characters. I have to say that this is an easy read but a bit different to LA Witt's usual fare. It's a low angst, cutesy love story. The two characters consist of a famous actor and an ordinary fan. While there are certain obvious things that come between them, this story is good for lots of "feel good" feelings for the reader. If you're looking for or need drama in your books... this one is very low in that department. It's a perfect book for just relaxing and enjoying.

This book actually surprised me, and it was a good one. The premise was definitely different from any other "celebrity" falls for a non celebrity person. It was really engaging. Unfortunately, there was a major annoyance that had me not rating it higher. Imagine my surprise and joy when the main characters actually talked about their possible relationship!!?😵 They discussed the problems they'll face and what they were feeling at the time. It was so refreshing to read until... they kept talking and talking and talking... I feel like they had the same conversation over and over again. What was in the beginning refreshing became redundant later. However, overall I really did enjoy the story.

This book has a catnip that I'm sure appeal to the masses: Adam -- the actor -- is a 28 year old virgin. While Brian, the love interest, as well as the future number 1 fan works as a nurse who also owns a wonderful dog named, Lola.

I liked it just fine -- the sex scenes are NUMEROUS in this book, as typical with Witt's books. I skimmed most of them, which made this a faster read for me despite clocking at more than 300 pages.

Outside the sex scenes both Adam and Brian were sweet. My heart soared with the romantic idea of a man who helps another man's acting career, simply by asking a photograph before one becomes famous. Adam's award acceptance speech was GOLD.

Oh, I especially loved Brian's parents who welcome Adam like their own son, even when they have only been boyfriends for weeks.

Love in the limelight is never easy and it’s never private.

I loved the beginning of this book, I was hooked from the start. We meet Adam, a struggling actor working at a diner. He’s on the brink of giving up, quit his job and go back to his hometown. He actually had the resignation notice all written up and in his back pocket, but first he needs to get through the day, and he just messed up another order – this one for a cute guy he’d love to take out. Only he thinks the man is out of his league and resigns himself to look from afar.

On the other side of that encounter we have Brian, who’s equally taken with his server. Though not brave enough to ask him out. He does ask for an autograph, stating that many up and coming actors start out in the service industry, and who knew – Adam could be the next big star. Adam signs the book and they part ways.

Fast forward five years and Adam is receiving a major acting reward. In his speech he thanks the unknown man who gave him the courage to try, to go on. The man he didn’t even know the name of. A man he’d love to meet again. Brian sees the speech and reaches out, agreeing to meet. This part I loved, and loved a lot. It was filled with emotion, I connected with it. In short I was hooked.

Adam and Brian start talking with each other, actual meetings are difficult seeing as they live in different cities, but they manage to keep in touch and get to know each other. Then feelings develop and they become something more.

The story is one with very little angst, there is some drama especially in regards to Adam’s fame. There were a few things that didn’t quite work for me though. I didn't believe in Adam's virginity. Not that I don't believe that there are 28 year old virgins, that part I was fine with. But call me cynical, but a Hollywood movie star and virgin, sorry but no sell.

Like I said in earlier, I loved the beginning of this book, couldn’t wait to know more. But then that all changed. When Adam and Brian finally get together my attention goes out the drain. It turned into too much on page sex. It grew tedious. It wasn't that it was eon long sex scenes, but they were, what it felt like, every few minutes. I want something more than smut in my books. I do know that this is my own personal preference and many readers that do enjoy a lot of smut in their books – so you guys might want to have a look at this book ;)

As far as the narration goes; Michael Ferraiuolo (a last name that I probably won’t ever learn how to spell) did a fantastic job. He captured the characters and their personalities and emotions just right. He brought them to life, with their insecurities, hopes and dreams, and let's not forget the passion. It was all there in his voice. He once again delivered a narration that took you away, this time to Hollywood, which isn’t as glamourous at it might seem from afar.

I really enjoyed Adam's and Brian's love story. The conflict of someone who hates the spotlight and one who has to live in it was engaging.

They are just super sweet together. I liked how they talked to each other and really tried to make it work.

Brian could have been more honest before he freaked out but that part of the book didn't last long and we get great parents and dog and great connection.

This was a very nice and interesting story. I like the trope of big celebrity falling in love with ordinary guy. A little bit like "Notting Hill" and the idea, that it's actually Brian, the ordinary guy, who encouraged Adam not to give up his dream of an acting career, while working as a waiter, definitely made it super sweet.
For my taste, the book could have been a little shorter, all that media frenzy and paparazzi drama got a little much and was over the top.
The whole book was probably as realistic and believable as Hugh Grant falling in love with Julia Roberts and living happily ever after, but who cares...
The story was absolutely sweet, it actually had me crying within the first few pages and I definitely liked both main characters a lot. Yes, they talked too much about the media, yes they had too much sex, yes the side characters were absolutely bland and yes the book would have been even better with 50 pages less. But for me it worked well and I had a good time reading it. 4 stars!

I sighed at the somewhat “meet cute” at the beginning. I was captivated by the acceptance speech (heart felt sighs and a few smiling tears). I enjoyed Adam and Brian spending time together through the middle (though I skimmed a LOT of the sex). I loved Brian’s parents. I loved how they opened their arms to Adam, even during times of relationship heartache. The book lost me at the contrived angst that I could see coming ten miles away. I just felt it could/should have been handled long before it was. I lost interest in their ending. I was still too pissed at how things went down. 🤷🏽‍♀️

So 3 ⭐️ because of unneeded angst.

I love reading this author and although this book was long with a lot of drama in it. The book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.

DNF at 23%, as soon as I realized I was again avoiding reading this one.

I wanted to just enjoy it. Alas, this author still suffers from the same habits that made me stop reading her several years ago. Were I a much less experienced reader, had I never written a book myself, it would probably be okay. But I am, and I did (unpublished, but I've learned a LOT), and my inner editor wants a red pen. I don't want to work, I want to enjoy, and I can't. The plot is slow, but holy cow, the repetition of feelings and worries gets old. *sigh*

this one was such a sweet book and story ... I loved Adam and how shy and unsure he was sometimes despite his being a big star

Brian was also a very sweet character and I could understand his actions.
nevertheless, I would have wished that he found the courage the first time ... .but in the end it is only important that he found it

this is a real nice and sweet read, which is perfect for rainy days and if you are looking for something sweet
loved it

Swoon...

I so adored the chemistry and connection between Brian and Adam. They were so cute together and truely perfect for each other. So happy Brian conquered his fear of being scrutinized by the public.

Way too much sex. It's like all there is between them is sex. Well, it's not written that way, but it's all we see.. Anytime they are together, it end up in sex. It's annoying. So I skimmed them. Make for a quick read.
Other than that, it's a cute story. I liked the setup. I'm not a fan of the virgin trope, but it was well handle here.
But Brian non stop, reassure Adam, he's there, he's not leaving, promise he will talk.. Blablaa. And then he does the opposite..

The premise of the story caught my eye. I was surprised at how quickly Brain and Adam actually got together in the book. The major part of the story was about the issues they had from actually being together. There were things I just didn't get like the fact Brian didn't lean on his parents or his friends for support. Adam actually was the one who went to Brian's parents for help. One thing I hate is when people allow other's to make decisions for them.

3.5 for the story
4.5 stars for narration by Michael Farraiuolo
Average to 4 stars, B

i enjoyed the characters and the sweet backstory. Adam, like many in LA, is working as a waiter while hoping to make it as an actor. One day, when he is reached the bottom of his hope and is ready to throw in the towel and go home, he has a customer who brightens his day. During a short conversation with Brian, the customer, tells Adam to keep trying, saying some people make it and it just might be him! He then asks Adam to give him and autograph, because maybe one day he'll be famous and Brian can say he knew him when. Adam sign it: "To my future number 1 fan." Both men were too unsure to ask for the other's number, but the talk gave Adam the energy to go to his audition later that day, and he got the role.

Fast forward a few years. Adam wins an award and in his acceptance speach he credits his success in part to the diner customer from years ago who gave him the courage to keep going. Through a series of events, the two men reconnect and find that the attraction both felt back in the diner is still there. The problem is that Brian is an introvert who relaly doesn't like crowds or attention.

It's a great set up and I liked the characters. They are great together and the problems don't arise from any conflict internal to the realtionship. It arises when the media frenzy starts and Brian can't take it. The second half of the book is basically a diatribe against the paparatzzi and ugly way fans can act. There is a bit of repetition with both MC's going over the situation in their own heads, and then again with each other, and again with friends. I knocked off a bit due to the rehashing of how awful people are. I definitely agree with the author, but we didn't need to hear it quite so much imo.

Michael Farraiuolo did a wonderful job, as usual. Such a beautiful speaking voice, and great character voices. he handles womnen's voices quite well.

Treasuring the bumbling diner waiter’s autograph

A quick and sweet, low-angst romance -with an occasional romping "puppy" (German Shepherd)

I enjoy this author's writing and overall the prose and the somewhat unique/novel character meeting and juxtaposition were enjoyable. A slightly older, attractive nice guy being particularly forgiving, nice and supportive to a bumbling waiter having a bad day turned into a virginal Hollywood hunk thanking his unknown fan, a shy but more experienced nurse, on national television. The resulting connection via social media, television, awkward-turned-heated meetings, and deal with the problems of long distance, fame, and paparazzi were a bit more cute than nuanced. While this didn't quite veer to total fluff, when I read this in the mood for more of an "aww shucks" sweet romance (rather than a deeply compelling, heart-wrenching/angst-filled relationship drama), it worked pretty well.

3.25 stars - better than most 3 star books, as usual this author's prose often rises 3.5 to 4 star levels, a little too pat, short and sweet to hit a 4 star mark for me
