Rye Marshall had it all—wealth, prominence, and the love of his life. But nothing lasts forever, and his perfect world came crashing down around him. When the dust settled, he found himself alone and starting from a clean slate.

Grace Dorrance had made many mistakes in her life, but one stood out above the rest—an epic ending to a complex and passionate relationship. She left her former lover’s life in complete ruins and tried her best never to look back at the wreckage.

Seconds chances are hard to come by, but even more difficult when Grace is arrested for a murder she didn’t commit. This gives Rye the perfect motive to forgive and forget, allowing for new beginnings. Unfortunately, someone is playing a game of office roulette with everyone’s lives.

Motive is book two in the Office Roulette Trilogy and follows the misfortunes of Grace and her secret lover Rye from a rival company. This follows Grace and Rye relationship and the impact of Brad’s murder, and how it has affected their lives. Lucky for Grace she has the support of her two best friends after the events that happened at the end of Means.
This is spoiler free, not that I know who the killer is as new suspects come to light, as more clues are found. We follow the fortunes from each of her friend pov’s as each book follows one of the friends and their partner's. The next book follows Cynthia and Gareth, and as this is a trilogy we should find out who the killer is.
When we follow each indivuial couple, the story is told from a dual POV, so we get a balance view. The more we find out the less people you can trust.

Motive is the second book in the Office Roulette series and I have to say that I was more satisfied with this story than I was with the first one. The characters were likable and I liked the story even if I am not a fan of second chance romances. I wanna know what the author has planned for the third book since we don't have many things happening in this one. Grace is very smart and I want to see her working with the heroine of the third book to find the killer. I have no idea which direction the story will take and I am happy for that. It keeps the suspense up. I liked the dynamics between the two main characters and I wasn't bothered with their past. Both of them were good as individuals and they loved each other very much. They slowly figure their relationship out, get over all the obstacles, to deal with the past and simultaneously try to find out who the killer is. In a way, a lot of things are going on in this book. I would recommend the book and I suggest to read the first one before you begin this one.

Who has motive?

This continuing saga in the office roulette series continues and as they say the plot thickens! Book one left us with a major cliffhanger and book two picks up where it left off, but with just more questions left unanswered. Grace is arrested on suspicion of murdering her boss Brad, even though she has made some errors in dealing with the police, she feels she is being framed. Rye is their competitor but also the love of her life, but their past tore them apart! Will Rye be able to ensure he keeps Grace in his life permanently like they planned or will someone succeed in pulling them apart? Another major cliffhanger but I can’t wait for the final book next month as I can’t for the life of me figure out who done it!

Disclaimer: An eARC was provided via Inkslinger PR and the Author as part of the Blog Tour. The Thoughts, opinions & feelings expressed in the review are therefore, my own.

Disclaimer: I would highly suggest that you read the first book in the Office Roulette Trilogy before diving into this one. There is an overarching story arc that will only make sense if you start from the beginning (which suffice to say, I did not!).

Grace Dorrance and Rye Marshall have a complicated history – they were together, in every sense of the word; they were the love of their lives and extenuating circumstances as well decisions taken under emotional duress forced them apart.

Now, professional rivals – they do not cross each other’s paths until one party and a murder. This murder, for which Grace is being framed for – gives Rye the opening for coming back to Grace’s life.

I adore Ms. Layne’s writing style – she writes to the point suspense with relationship drama that is just the right amount of necessary; which honestly makes her books a wonderful read to get lost into for a few hours!

But what I honestly forgot about Ms. Layne was her love for teasing her readers with a mystery long drawn through all the characters finding their HEAs – which is exactly what happened. I was a little lost with the mystery in the book; ‘cause I hadn’t read the first book – (Read Disclaimer!) yet it didn’t take long for me to get acclimated to all the current pieces of the mystery – till the end where Ms. Layne gobsmacked me again with that little reveal!

I can’t wait for the conclusion of this series – till then, I am gonna go back to the start to immerse myself in this trilogy all over again!

Motive by Kennedy Layne
“Who did it? 5 stars”

Murder is in the air and the question is who did it? Well, we don’t find out in book two of the Office Roulette series, but we get further sucked into the mystery. Everyone had motive and is a suspect except for a select few. Who do you think did it?
Grace can’t believe her boss was murdered, let alone the fact she was arrested for it without any real cause. She’s been part of a scandal before and rather not go through it again. Especially now that Rye’s is back in her life. Will her name get cleared? Will her relationship make it out of the investigation alive and well or will it fall apart again?
Rye was in love with Grace once upon a time, but it came crashing down with a scandal and her running. But he’s finally got her back where he wants her, he won’t let her get away a second time. Will Rye be able to help Grace through this? Will they finally say those three little words again?
I adored these two. They both have a protective streak a mile wide when it comes to the other. We also get more of their friends and office mates. My favorite part is the murder theme. I honestly have no idea who the killer is and that rarely happens. So, jump in and place your bets on who killed the boss.

If it wasn’t bad enough to come across her boss’s murdered body now Grace has been arrested for the crime. Someone is trying to set her up and she needs to find out who and why without bring any negative attention to Rye. She still feels guilty for what happened in the past and she will do anything to protect him and his reputation.

Rye fell in love with her when they were in college. After the scandal erupted she pushed him out of her life but he isn’t about to let her do that again. He will do whatever is necessary to protect her and find out who is responsible for framing her.

As the list of possible suspects grows they are left with more question than answers. The only thing that they know for sure is that they are meant to be together. I am looking forward to the next installment in this series to see who is behind the murder and why. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

PSA - please read book 1 before you start on this - it will greatly enhance your enjoyment of the story.

Once again, this isn't a long book - but that really works in the context of the trio of female protagonists and their individual yet entwined story arcs.

I really enjoy reading their stories.  Grace is stubborn, but watching Rye wear her down against the backdrop of a murder investigation is a great way to while away time curled up on the sofa.

I still have no clear idea who the bad guy (or girl) is though....

Bring on the conclusion!

Motive is the 2nd book in the Office Roulette trilogy and picks up from book 1 running. Grace has been framed for her boss' murder. Since she's been in a secret relationship with Rye, a rival of the company, her innocence is questioned.

I enjoyed Grace and Rye together. He just wouldn't let her curl up and hide away. Because of a previous scandal she was involved in, Grace tried to call quits, (like she did before) but Rye was persistent. I like how this situation is bringing all of these "secret" relationships to light. Of course we still don't know who killed Brad, which is the secondary story line in this series.

I can't wait for book 3.

ARC received for honest review.

Grace Dorrance and Rye Marshall are featured in the second book in the Office Roulette series. As rivals they were trying to keep their relationship private but the death of Grace’s boss has brought their relationship into the open. They have a complicated past that all comes out in the search for the killer. Kennedy Layne wastes no time picking up the story right from where the last book left off. Who has the best motive for murder? I can’t wait until the next book for the conclusion to the story.

This is book 2 in this series and the suspense was just as strong in this book as it was in book 1. I recommend reading book 1 first since the side story is just as important as the love story between the characters. Grace and Rye were hot together. They had a chemistry that made me swoon and I enjoyed reading this all in one night.

Motive was a great book. I could not put it down. This is the second book in the trilogy, and it jumps right into the action. The romance is sexy, and the suspense is captivating. I cannot wait for the conclusion next month!!!

Great Book!

The intrigue and mystery continues in this second book. The list of suspects grows and the heat level is off the charts. I still haven’t figured out who the bad guy is and that’s unusual for me. I also loved seeing old friends from CSA again!
