Reckless Behavior

I do not usually read MM books. Nothing against them but they just aren’t really my thing. This might be my second or even third. I don’t even really read ménage, ok, I’ve read one, but again, it isn’t usually my thing. That being said, I’m happy that I took a chance and read this. JJ Harper has an amazing writing skill. The story was incredibly entertaining. I happen to love a bad boy, really what female honestly doesn’t? In Reckless Behavior we get double the trouble!
Nothing about Santo and Ezra is easy. They work for every inch they are given. I enjoyed how the story was separated into two sections. Learning about Santo’s past and how he became who he currently is was fascinating. This book also built up super slowly. It was sexy and a bit curious. Ezra stole the show for me personally. He was a darling character. I think this is where I lose the star. These were grown men acting like some teenage drama students and it bugged me a bit. I would have been fine omitting all of that! Also, with the title Reckless Behavior and the criminal underworld bit, I would have thought there would have been a bit more suspense… I wanted a bit more suspense personally.
I will say that this book has interested me into looking at JJ Harper’s other books… does she write an MF books? I have no idea but I’m interested enough now to find out! The writing of a book is something that can turn me on or off so easily. I enjoyed immensely the writing of Ms. Harper. I was also a bit surprised at the amount of chemistry and sweet romance that was sprinkled throughout. I’m intrigued enough in the characters that I hope we get more from this crew!

"The Power of Love"
WOW..WOW..WOW...what an absolutely incredible, heart-breaking, heart-warming, breath-taking, beautiful story I have just had the opportunity in reading. This upcoming release is one of the best books I have ever encountered..EVER. I am floored beyond belief. This book grabbed me immediately with its heart-crushing moments, kept me eagerly in tune with it's incredible characters, and, comforted me greatly with it's heart-warming moments as well. I loved being immersed with these characters and their gripping story, and, much as it had affected me, I did not want it to end.
Reckless Behavior by JJ Harper, with it's stunning and appropriate title, was one of the best stories I have ever read. It was one of those stories that flowed effortlessly as the storyline allowed me to quickly become addicted to its plot and its characters, as I found myself going through every-single-emotion as I desperately read through the story. I was anxious for more as I read, and, even though it was a welcomed deep and well-developed lengthy plot, I had wished it was spread out into two books, thereby allowing me additional time to read.
This is a story that I went into blindly, and, as this was the first time that I had read anything by this author, I am more than glad that I did. It does contain, without-a-doubt, many difficult-to-read moments, as I will call them triggers, and, I found myself absolutely beside myself while reading them. Even though they were very difficult to read, I do wholeheartedly recommend pressing through these moments, as there are many wonderful moments right around the bend.
Many of these wonderful moments came from the excellently-written characters. Gah..I adored many of them, others I loved, and, while I found it somewhat of a challenge to really understand some of them in part, they wound up growing on me and I ultimately loved them immensely as well. And, some of them..shocked me. Two such characters who wiggled their way into my heart were the main characters, Ezra and Santo. These extraordinary individuals blew-me-away with their dedication, inner-strength, and, devotion. Their background and development was indescribably gripping as well as breathtakingly beautiful.
Even though I may not have been completely on board with some parts of the storyline, and, despite not really knowing its setting, as a whole, Reckless Behavior is one incredible story. I am so very glad I read it....:)

Stopped reading at about half.
Sure it’s a nice enough story, that’s why i read so far still. I stopped because it was just too obvious how it would end. Like there would be no surprises anymore.
I think the story has more than enough potential, but is lacking on a few things. The dialogue is off, sometimes. Too much tell, too little show. The way Ezra and Santo give in to each other lacks real passion is my opinion.
It was a nice try, but not appealing enough for me to end the story.

I'm only giving this one 3 stars because I loved the idea of the book so much. The story itself, or maybe the outline of the story was great. The actual book, not so much. I didn't feel one thing for these two. Nothing! Way too many things happen that are not fully fleshed out. Very surface, no depth at all. Also, a weird use of contractions. Sometimes we got the "I am" and "will not" when the contraction would work much better and then we got "daren't"....."daren't" instead of dare not or don't dare. WTF? I know it sounds silly to pick that out but the whole book doesn't flow when contractions are used incorrectly. At least for me. Not worth the time, really.

Highly doubt that the author is a high-schooler. The whole story(if only there is a “story” thing) is a total mayhem, and the bdsm part is total bullsh*t.

This was such a great read that I finished it all in one setting. JJ Harper truly did an incredible job on this book. I would not mind if this turned into a series. That is how good this book was.
Santo has not had an easy life. He is the son of a mobster who would rather frame his son for something he did not do to get him out of his way them to actually take part in his life. Same for his baby brother, Luca. Their father put him in the “pound” at the age of ten. So neither man had it easy growing up. Both was locked up but in different places. The saving grace for Santo is his fathers enemy, Salvatore took him under his wing when in prison and protected him and man him his son.
When Santo is released from prison, Sal has set him up with wverything he needs to not only succeed in life but also to find his baby brother and get revenge on his father. Honestly going to prison was most likely the best hung that could have happened to Santo. Or at least until he finds and rescues his brother.
When Santo finally finds Luca, Luca will not leave the pound without his best friend Ezra. Ezra is pretty quite for the most part. But as time goes on and the longer they are out of the pound, the more both Luca and Ezra seem to come into their own and blossom before everyone’s eyes.
The only problem is Ezra has a crush on Santo and Santo cannot return those feelings. Or at least he can’t at the time. Things happen and Ezra ends up leaving. Though Santo, Luca, and everyone else looks for him, they did not find him till years later.
Now that Ezra is grown, Santo is seeing him in a different light. The question is, does Ezra still feel the same way he used to about Santo or has he grown out of those feelings his younger self felt?
This was such a good read. You honestly just have to read it to get the full feel for this book. This is definitely a book I would highly recommend to others.

Wow this one was a book hangover once you started it was hard to put down. Framed when he was younger Santo gets sent to prison and gets out six years later. He goes in search of his younger brother Luca who he eventually finds in a dubious children's home The Pound. Luca refuses to go with Santo unless his friend Ezra comes too. He can't leave him behind because he fears what will happen to Ezra without him being there.
Ezra is smitten with his savior Santa and falls in love with him but knows nothing will be able to become of it because of the age difference between them. Ezra can't help his feelings but feels he's not enough for Santo so he runs away and changes his name so no one will ever find him. A few years later Santo goes to check out a new club he's looking at buying plus check out a dancer he's heard about who he wants for his club. Stunned when he sees this dancer is actually Ezra under his new name. So begins the romance between Ezra and Santo though Ezra doesn't come willingly he wants Santo to work hard if he wants him in this relationship. I received a copy to review for Naughty Nighty Book Blog (thank you). This read contains BDSM and lots of hot m/m sex. Once I'd finished I wanted to turn round and read it all again I loved it.

A slow burn, MM Romance that was intriguing in itself. JJ Harper captures our hearts and entertains us in Reckless Behavior with a criminal underworld feel story line and two troubled souls that need to be loved.
"Why should I risk my heart for you?"
Written in two parts for us to fully understand Santo Valentine; Part one uncovers his background and how he became the man, the Dom he is today. Part two is the push and pull magnitude between Santo and Ezra. It's hot, steamy and a relationship you can't tear your eyes from. However, there were parts that resembled an emotional high school banter between the two which was annoying and could have been shortened/avoided. But the sensual erotic nature is brilliant and addictive. CH. 15 says it all!
JJ is a new author for me and one that I will keep my eyes open for.

Released from prison after six years Santiago”Santo”Valentine is a new man. He has learned a lot in prison from Master Salvatore Moretti and his ready to reunite with his brother, Luca, and have his revenge for being framed by his father.
When he finds his father dumped his eleven years old brother at “The Pound, I took him to The Pound!” the worst place in the city for kids he is done with his father and wrecks havoc on him, his associates and his business.
Arriving at the Pound Santo finds Luca, but he is not alone “I’m not leaving without Ezra. I can’t. He’s not safe here alone. I won’t leave him.” and Santo look into a pair of the most vivid, ice-blue eyes I have ever seen.
Ezra, beautiful and shy, is instantly attracted to Santo and his dominance ways but knowing Santo will never be interested in his submission he leaves and disappears from their lives.
Six years later Santo is scouting a dancer for his club and is shocked when he sees Ezra perform on the pole. I need this man at Club V, and I won’t take no for answer.
Santo and Ezra have an immediate and intense reaction towards each other but manage to a behave like teenagers on the playground. While the sex was sizzling hot I felt like they needed some slaps to come to their senses.
And I would have realy liked some BDSM scenes between Santo and Ezra.

I wanted to love this story and actually read it twice just to make sure that I gave it my honest opinion.
The story reads like a mini series complete with pauses for commercial breaks. With this said the story became choppy and jumped around. It was almost like pressing fast forward. This isn't necessarily a bad thing just not my cup of tea.
The story starts with a bang. Santo is thrown in prison, framed by his father. He spends his time in there vowing retribution and with the help from unexpected allies a plan is made.
While rescuing his brother Lucca from "The Pound" he ends up bringing his best friend Ezra home with them. Now his heart is both complete and confused all at the same time.
I would have liked to see more emphasis on the relationships and character development in this story.

WOW!!! I having a hard time putting into words how I feel about this book. I loved every part of this book, the parts that had me laughing, the parts that had me crying, and the parts that had me sighing. I was absolutely feel in love right away with Santo. Then I met Ezra and I was instantly in love with him and Santo's little brother. I loved every character in this book, that doesn't happen to me a lot. The moment Santo sees Ezra there is a instant connection. I am never disappointed with JJ Harpers work! Santo and Erza story drew me and wouldn't let me go. I stayed up way fast my bed time to finish, I need to know when Santo was gonna quit being a pain and get the love of his life. This is a must read and I recommend it to any one that loves m/m and BDSM

My friend Serpounce boasted about the worst MM she read in her life. I didn't believe her, I had to see for myself. Now that's a hard life lesson.
This book is SOOOOO bad that even any of its long comment is way better the book itself! There's no plot. The MC Santo, was framed and threw into prison at 18 in P1, met his father's rival - another mafia boss in P2, taught BDSM by said boss in a SM dungeon (in said prison!) in P3, then got early release with said boss' help in P5, and finally killed his father by P10. I mean, seriously?
And the other MC, Erza barely had any interaction with Santo in the first 30% of the book, then he went missing, and Santo vowed to find him. Guess what, you turn to the next page, literally, it's already 6 years later! And the author started the double first-person vow, which has no difference in the tone of voice of these two MCs. Somewhere at 40%, MCs fell crazy in lust & in love which totally baffled me. I couldn't take it anymore, not even the sex scenes.
The positive thing about this book, is that its wording is so simple that you could read it even when you're brain-dead. (Hey, maybe we could start a new genre called "MM for Brain-dead" or "MM for non-English speaking Zombie"?)

J.J. is always one of my go-to authors so I couldn’t wait for this new book! I literally couldn’t put it down and fell asleep with my iPad in hand at 6:30 in the morning…it was that good!
Santo Valentine was sent to prison when he was set up by his good-for-nothing crime boss dad! There he is befriended and taken under the wing by Salvatore Moretti, another powerful man that is was his father’s rival. Sal is in charge of everything inside and outside the prison walls. He guides and teaches young Santo how to harness his emotions and use them. He becomes Santo’s best friend and father. When Santo is released early from prison, six years later, he has two goals…take his father down and to find out what the worthless bastard did with his little brother Luca! With Sal’s support and connections on the outside he accomplishes his goals but is faced with a dilemma, a dilemma with the most beautiful ice blue eyes! The eyes of his little brother’s best and truly only friend in the god forsaken place he was dumped “The Pound”!
This book will put you through the ringer. The confrontation with Santo’s dad was brutal and bloody but entirely necessary. It sets the stage on how Santo becomes who he is and how much authority and power he wields. The inhuman conditions the boys at “The Pound” endure to afford the director his luxuries was deplorable. Unfortunately, it isn’t that hard to visualize. I did love that both Santo and Luca wanted their dad’s legacy destroyed and good to be erected to bury it once and for all, for everything to be legal and legit.
I loved how the author had Santo learn as a submissive with Master Salvador first so he would be in-tune with his own submissives when he became a Master. Watching him with Sebastian was treat. That he knew what the man not only wanted but what he didn’t know that he needed. I did expect that there might have been more “scenes” when I started the book because of it being a BDSM book. That is where I was mistaken. This book does has BDSM in it. After all Santo is the owner of a private, exclusive BDSM club. I became invested in them and now want their stories as well. I want to witness Sebastian getting his own HEA since Santo couldn’t provide it. And Luca! We all know that JJ is the master of triad relationships. It would be a travesty not to get his threesome story told. I can’t recommend this book enough and eagerly await the rest of the books in the series because I know in my heart that they will come.

This book will put you through the ringer. The confrontation with Santo’s dad was brutal and bloody but entirely necessary. It sets the stage on how Santo becomes who he is and how much authority and power he wields. The inhuman conditions the boys at “The Pound” endure to afford the director his luxuries was deplorable. Unfortunately, it isn’t that hard to visualize. I did love that both Santo and Luca wanted their dad’s legacy destroyed and good to be erected to bury it once and for all, for everything to be legal and legit.
I loved how the author had Santo learn as a submissive with Master Salvador first so he would be in-tune with his own submissives when he became a Master. Watching him with Sebastian was treat. That he knew what the man not only wanted but what he didn’t know that he needed. I did expect that there might have been more “scenes” when I started the book because of it being a BDSM book. That is where I was mistaken. This book does has BDSM in it. After all Santo is the owner of a private, exclusive BDSM club. So a totally new standalone romance from J J Harper... a slight change of pace from her normal romances... this was a gritty & emotional read and contains elements of BDSM.
This book is in two parts... the first part solely from Santo’s POV and the second contained both Santo and Ezra’s POV. This was important I think because Santo’s backstory was important to lay the foundation of this sensational read... it was important also for us to see/ understand his determination in rescuing his brother and in turn also Ezra- Luca’s best friend.
Santos was a strong character full of passion and drive but had truly had quite a rough time and this is really where the BDSM came in- it was within him but also helped him cope to a degree- not to mention he was taught by the very best during the most challenging time of his life.
The story turned on its head however with the arrival of Ezra- certainly there was a magnetic pull between the two but the HEA would be fraught with problems, insecurity and engaging drama!
The writing as we have come to know from J J Harper is very well rounded, engaging, entertaining, perfect in its delivery and from page one I just knew she had done it yet again!
The book is truly erotic in places,the research sound, the dynamics between all the characters believable , the perfect amount of tension- not overdone or gratuitous thus ticking all the boxes for me!

There are certain authors that I love, and I will immediately grab their new releases. I just know that whatever the story is about, I'll love it! This is how I feel for JJ Harper, and I dove right into Reckless Behavior before reading the blurb. I can easily say that this book was one of my favorites!
Reckless Behavior is a standalone romance which was captivating and oh so steamy! This book is split into two parts. Part one is told from Santo’s POV, while part two is told from both Santo and Ezra’s POV. Santo is a strong alpha male, and he made me weak in the knees. I truly loved the first part of the book when Santo was discovering himself. He took no BS and was determined to find his missing brother. When he did, he rescued both Lucas and his best friends Ezra.
Santo and Ezra’s path to HEA was a definite rocky one, and I enjoyed all the twists along the way. The characters were engaging and very well developed. There was not much that could have pried me away from this story! You’ll definitely need a spare pair of panties for this one!

Santo and Ezra stole my heart from the moment I met them i felt everything they were going through the tears laughter heartbreaking moments and heartwarming moments and their ups and downs
Every page every word was so intense powerful and meaningful i was so excited to see what was going on from one page to the next and the heat and chemistry in this book jumped right off the pages you could feel it
I shared a lot of heart pounding moments with Santo and Ezra that had me going wow and no but by the time I finished this incredible journey my heart was so full

When I read the blurb I was expecting the story to be more mafia related but I was pleasantly surprised with the change of directions.
There were parts in the book that weren’t fully explored such as, Ezra’s past. This was briefly touched upon but it wasn't something that Ezra shared with Santos. Ezra and Luc went through a traumatising experience at the ‘pound’ but this again was lightly touched upon.
The BDSM aspects werent overly heavily. The steamy scenes ranged from vanilla and kinky but what I loved most was that the author captured their growing feelings towards each other ever so perfectly.

It really is just unbelievable, how is there a bdsm dungeon in a prison, why does Santos father enemy take him in and teach him everything and give him resources from their first conversation.
Ezra is madly in love with Santo the first time he sees him but santos just sees him as a kid. Then Ezra runs away and disappears because he got with an abusive dom in santos club and is ashamed. Santos goes to check out a new club 6 years later and the best dancer in the country apparently 🙄🙄🙄 of course it’s Ezra and santos decides he wants erza after talking to him for 2 minutes.

Hot and sultry reading is on offer between the pages of Reckless Behavior. The main characters were a great contrast and offered interesting dimensions to their relationship. While the main couple spent the majority of time a part, always a little odd for a romance, their connection was believable.
There were some plot elements that had me scratching my head, but when I pushed myself to look past them, I was able to enjoy this book for the sexy escapism it offers.

Wow what a book, I love J.J Harper’s MM books they are hot sexy and romantic. A Romantic pull your heart strings story, I loved all the characters in Recklessly Behavior they worked so well together, the chemistry is hot and subtle the romance builds slowly but when they finally fall it’s hard and fierce. I know when I read a book by JJ Harper it’s going to be hot and this one didn’t disappoint in anyway. It will be a book I will read again.

I loved Ezra!!! He knew who and what he wanted, and wouldn't settle for anything less. It was all or nothing for him. I have to say that I think the story would have been better split into a prequel and then a longer more in depth story with Ezra and Santo. I also thought the crime underworld storyline would be a bigger aspect of their love story than it was, but it was still enjoyable. I hope that we get a story for Luca and his men in the future. They have me intrigued.

Amazing book! I fell in love with Santo and Ezra and I loved their dynamics as Dom/sub and lovers too. Their story was full of angst, drama and so much emotion and the sex scenes were absolutely stunning! <3 <3 <3 The beautiful hard earned HEA was worth every single difficulty they had to get through. I’ve instantly fallen in love for Santo. I hated his father, for his criminal actions, for putting their sons one in jail and the other one in a place where children disappear. This part of the story is really heart-breaking.
Fortunately, there are always good souls ready to guide you through the darkest times and places. In jail Santo finds the protection of Salvatore. This man has received a life sentence and he will become a saviour, a mentor and like a father for Santo. He will teach Santo to become a strong man and a Dom, ready to claim the world once outside prison.
Santo’s brother, Luca, left in the scariest place a child could be left, finds his light the day Santo comes to rescue him. But Luca is not alone in that horrible place: Ezra, his friend and the only family he knows, can’t be left there. Santo will become their saviour and protector.
The moment Santo and Ezra’s eyes met something shift between them. But Ezra is too young to fall in love for a man like Santo. Only the test of time will tell if the feelings they have for each other can lead to true love and a well-deserved happy ending.
JJ Harper has created two characters, Ezra and Santo, so different and yet so powerful. I love the way Santo doesn’t give up claiming the life he wants, better than the one his father put him through. I love him for his strength and good heart and that, despite his father, the meaning of “family” is sacred and goes beyond blood ties. For Santo “family” means respect and unconditional love.
And what about Ezra? Totally to fall for. At first, he seemed to me so fragile, but his appearance doesn’t match his spirit because he is strong, determined, and I love that he made Santo to work hard to conquer him.
The story has made me cry and sigh and want more.
JJ Harper has done a good job at the light BDSM sex scenes that are intense, erotic but never too hard or distracting from the story.

I love stories where the characters have to work for what they want, like in this story. Two completely men fighting against the odds and their own situations to get to what they want. I'd not read anything from JJ before but this book was slow burning, sexy and intriguing and I'll be reading more from her in the future.

Enjoyed this story just enough angst to hold your attention. The knight in the white horse. The wizard and the damsel in distress even though both brothers were kind of in distress in the beginning. I really like this story though. Kept me interested to finish it.

I have had this book in my TBR list for over a year, not sure why I waited so long to read it, but I a sorry I did. This book grabbed me from the first page and I gobbled up every wonderful word. This book was perfect, with its imperfect characters and the right amount amount of struggle to get to the HEA.

This is the first book by JJ that I have read. It was an amazing story. It had just enough angst and BDSM to make it a good read. Add in the amazing story between these two men and it is an truly remarkable book!!!
