They are wrong.

I thought long and hard about this review but there is not much I can say about the book without giving spoilers. It started with the brutal murder of a couple and their child found wandering along the middle of the road at night. He was unharmed but had blood on him. The poor little guy, only eight years old, may have witnessed the murder, at the very least he saw his parents dead.
Creeping menace - that phrase again, this book had that in spades. The book grabs you from the start and does not let go. You soon start to realise there's something fishy going on and something terrible is going to happen. That's probably all I can say. I enjoyed it a lot. As it raced along to the shocking conclusion I realised I had guessed the ending but it didn't really detract from my enjoyment.
This is a tough one to review. I really liked the story and found it engaging. And I really loved the child in the story, he was weird and creepy. But I found the other characters really unbelievable.

Get ready for a rollercoaster ride! This book gives you chills in plain, Anglo-Saxon language; no frills or fluff. I will long be looking around the corner for the antagonist, Boyd.
As parallel steel arms lifted the skiff to the Custom Venture’s deck, Jake ordered the Colorado to all stop, then watched the cargo vessel’s forward capstan winch pull the nose of the Colorado alongside. His gaze fell to the back of the Trident where McKenzie and commandos climbed topside through the missile compartment hatch. They carried wrench sets, crowbars, and coils of nylon line. Jake looked through the Custom Venture’s open cargo bay door. A group of longshoremen, a mix of Latinos and Europeans, stood in artificial light in front of a background of towering steel crates. “How should I address our man on the bridge?” he asked while fingering the controls to a bridge-to-bridge radio. “Call him ‘Captain’,” Renard said. “Captain, do you copy?” Jake asked. “Yes, sir,” a man with a Mandarin accent said. “Do you have communications with the cargo bay?” Jake asked.
Stranger Danger (Kindle Edition) by Steve Richer was a good read but it was easy to figure out who the real Villain was way before the detectives in the story did. I don't mind that once in awhile but this was the second book in a row where I managed to finger the real psych before the stories detectives did. Personally I like to figure out who the bad guys are just before or at the same time the hero and/or heroine does. With stories like this one the thing that keeps me reading is wanting to find out how many more innocents will fall prey to the antagonist before the hero and/or heroines snaps to what is really going on. I love the way Richer employed foreshadowing in this story and the ending was great. This is a read that I recommend to all my friends that love psychological thrillers and it's a book that I will probably read again.
Read in one day. Brilliant. A little boy is found in the road in the night alone. The cops are called and the boy is taken into hospital after realising he came from a house where his parents were murdered. They figure he is a witness but the boy is not talking. Eventually he's taken to a home to await fostering. Meanwhile Lori and Lucas a childless couple are registered for fostering get a call to say they have a boy available. So they finally get the son they've always wanted, but at what price. Menacing brilliant and totally absorbing. Goo stuff Stuff Steve Richer📕👍
This book was gripping from the first pages! They find Boyd lying in the road with blood on him that isn't his but his parents! This is the psychological thriller that I've been waiting for. It's such an intense read that I couldn't put it down. How can one child be so dangerous? He certainly has the makings of a monster with the classic signs that you have seen in the past like Jeffree Dahmer and all the empathy of a turnip. He can mimic emotions and has the intellect to do whatever he wants. I'd highly recommend this book.
This young boy Boyd is found on the road, near by are his dead parents. With no known relatives he is placed into the foster home of Toni and Lucas. They are on for a ride of their lifes. So are we. If you notice anything strange about your kid or the kid next door, listen to your instincts. Boyd is wired all wrong and he will destroy your and others lives. This is not a kid you bring home. Great book
I haven't read a book this good in long time. The thought of Boyd made my skin crawl, I knew something was extremely strange about him. I was a bit devastated about his foster parents personal issues. I don't think anything was ever mentioned about Felicia's husband, I assumed all charges were dropped but I wondered if they were ever able to put aside their differences.
I figured out this book in the first chapter, but it was a really good story no matter! Tori and Lucas is a couple about to foster their first child, Boyd, who came to them after losing both parents to homicide. There is just something about Boyd that's a bit different. A tale of terror woven with suspense, mystery, and an outcome that makes me wonder about fostering!(not really, but WOW!)
How did I end up reading two very similar books within two weeks about first-time foster parents taking in a small traumatized child who turns out to be evil?? I don't even really *like* those kinds of stories! I can't get over how similar this was to The Perfect Child by Lucinda Berry, which I guess I liked better? They're both equally disturbing, but that one had tighter story-telling and characters you actually felt bad for.
Absolutely loved this book! Usually i can predict some of the twists....but not with this one. This just kept getting better and better, until I knew I wouldn't be able to put it down! If you like a fast paced thriller with plenty of twists, then this is the book for you....enjoy.
Boyd is an eight year old who just lost his parents. Or that's what he wants you to think! I figured out who was the one doing all the killing early in the book, but never in my wildest dreams could I have conjured up exactly how! This is a must read spine chilling thriller. You wont be able to put it down!
I had a hard time putting it down. It was very steadily pace and very engaging. My only problem was that there seemed an ever so slight disconnect between the police element and the family, but it didn't detract from the story at all. It was very well written and I enjoyed it immensely!
I flew through this book in 2 nights! All I will say is this book is fast moving, suspenseful, creepy, nail biting intense! The first book I've read by this author & it won't be the last! I hope he writes a sequel to this story! Great Read! A+++++++++
This book is totally Creepy and Scary..... I could not imagine living with or even being in contact with the psychotic kid in this story. OMG 😲. I will not soon forget this one... Two thumbs up to the author Steve Richer, for dreaming up and writing this ! Will be waiting for more from this Great Author 👍 👍
I was mildly entertained - nothing special though. Whoever edited this missed some glaring mistakes which is always distracting. Also it’s a bit predictable- I’ve seen and read very similar storylines. Characters are one dimensional - no depth. Overall was an ok read but forgettable
I found this to be a very consuming book. Once I started I could not put it down. The character of Boyd was cleverly done, he was very believable. Would recommend this book to anyone that wants an exciting read.
Lots of twists and turns. Definitely not for the faint of heart. It will have you looking at some children (and adults) differently. Highly recommended.
I was so surprised when I got this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐5 star book for free. I rarely give 5 stars but this Creepy Kid story and author definitely deserve it. I will be following and reading more by this great author.
While reading this book I was kinda creeped out by the main character. Not knowing kept me interested. The fact I thought about the book really made me appreciate the author! I was drawn in from beginning to the end and look forward to reading more by this author.
I love the action in this book. It ended leaving me wanting more. I hope there is a sequel. Maybe with Cody/Boyd going back to find his foster mother and attempting to finish whAt he started.
Wow! What a gripping thriller. I couldn't put it down. The story was fast paced with lots of twists and turns that kept me fascinated. That kid ! Felt sorry for him at first but as I read more he really become so creepy!
This was such a great read. I was hooked from the beginning and never lost interest. If you like a good suspense, you truly need to read this book and I am not a big fan of male authors, but he did a phenomenal job. Can't wait to read more from him.
This was the 1st book by this author that I have read. I really enjoyed reading this book. Since description is already listed no need to repeat that information. Will some likely look to see what other books the author has written..
The story provides readers a rather interesting and twisty journey as well as takes a path that is not typical of most police procedurals. Many will find the read satisfying despite out guessing those expected to solve the crimes. 3.5 star read
In fact I made it two pages in. The woman is in her seventies. Not her 700s. “Gosh dang!” “Bloomin’ knitting!” “Hags!” No one talks like that so long as they were born post- 1850. I had to quit.
Nailbiter! Richer keeps the tension & suspense rolling in this story. I was turning pages as fast as I could, to find out what was going to happen next! Totally enthralling and keeps you on your toes. I would highly recommend this book to lovers of suspense & thrilling!
