But he needed one. Former hellion Adrian Sinclair is ready to prove he's a changed man. He vows to fulfill his duties as the new Earl of Wareton, which includes choosing a wealthy, suitable wife. When he takes charge of his cousin's home, his first priority is marrying off his cousin's troublesome stepsister. However, the more time he spends with the unconventional beauty, the harder it is to deny his attraction to her. While she's anything but suitable, she's everything he wants.
She didn't want to be alone...
But she had no choice. Anna Colbrook would rather everyone think she's content to be a spinster than have them know the truth. Unfortunately, Adrian seems determined to uncover the real reason she remains unmarried, and his powers of persuasion—namely his kisses in the moonlight—awaken Anna's long-denied dreams of love. But when a scandalous deception is revealed, she begins to doubt Adrian's honor. Worse, the secret puts Anna in grave danger, one even Adrian might not be able to save her from.
Elizabeth Rue writes historical romance set in Regency England. Her debut, UNDONE BY THE EARL, has won multiple awards including a B.R.A.G Medallion for excellence in indie fiction.
I loved💕 this Adult Regency Era Romance! England 1810 Anna💃💋 is an young adult orphan woman taken in by her uncle, an Earl. Her mother was unhappily married twice, and Anna💃💋 fears the same will happen to her. Her mother's second husband was the Earl's son, and she was his second wife. Anna💃💋 is not related to the Earl, so she has no standing. Her much younger step sister, Madeline, is also taken in by the old Earl, and he sets a precedent that Madeline, the daughter of his son, must marry before Anna💃💋, or Anna💃💋 forfeits her inheritance dowry. At the time, Madeline is 12, and Anna is 20! Anna💃💋 will be an old maid by the time Madeline debuts in the ton and finds a husband! The old Earl dies and his supposedly wastrel second nephew, Adrian🐺🍆🌋, ends up inheriting his estate, plus three young women who need a husband!
There is some angst, as Anna💃💋 is afraid to get into a bad marriage and she doesn't want to lose her inheritance.
Definitely an adult novel with several sexual scenes.
We are proud to announce that UNDONE BY THE EARL by Elizabeth Rue is a B.R.A.G.Medallion Honoree. This tells readers that this book is well worth their time and money!
Fantastic debut by Elizabeth Rue! There were several characters who were more than what they seemed; deeper than thought at first glance. I like how Anna was headstrong yet not so stubborn so she could enjoy all there was for life to offer.
Such evil, mean, underhanded titled men. Men married woman for their money then treated them shamefully. Instead of working for it. Women were different. They had no choice but to marry well as men controlled them in everything they did.
I actually really enjoyed this, it felt like a spicy version of pride and prejudice and I ate it up. Some of the similarities I found between those two books were: main characters who didn't like each other at the beginning, the impossibility of a marriage between them because the FMC didn't have a good enough background to even dream of being in a serious relationship with the MMC, an annoying family who didn't recognize her value and undermined her at any given opportunity... There were probably other things I can't quite remember at the moment.
However, what I didn't like is that she truly felt less than him for most of the book, she allowed him to treat her poorly at times and she rarely stood up for herself because she loved him. Not going to lie, I kind of cringed at how she was willing to be nothing but a hook up to him because it didn't matter if he had feelings for her as well, he was never going to risk his position and the honor of his family and actually marry her for love, so in her mind her only chance at happiness was too get knocked up and leave her home.
The MMC was also too stubborn and too proud to listen to her even when she only had his best interest at heart, he was the type of man who only saw the wrongness in his ways after he said hurtful things and yes, he did grovel at the end and said all the right things, but part of me still thinks he would have somewhat regretted a marriage with her had he not found that she was rich and still, I'll have to admit he was actually pretty charming in between. Anyway, despite all those things I still think this is one of the better written historical romances I've come across and the mystery and suspense aspect of it wasn't half bad, I didn't predict every twist and turn, it was rather entertaining.

Anna has been in charge of Madeline well-being for the last 6 years making her a spinster! There are inheritance clauses the old Earl put in place! Madeline should have been told I hated the way Anna wanted to martyr her self! Adrian was too stuck on his status as an Earl nearly compromising Anna several times and successful! Anna was stubborn and betrayed by her man of affairs this was later revealed! Anna had faith in Edmund that he was falsely accused twice! Adrian was too Stubborn to even inquire of the truth! A lot of mistakes made with honest conversation! Initially Adrian thought Anna mouthy and beautiful their feelings were suddenly developed to me?
What a wonderful debut novel. My only gripe is that there wasn’t an epilogue, but I know the author is planning the second book with these wonderful characters so I’ll have to suck it up and wait. This book for me was spot on, it ensnared me from the first chapter all the way to the end. The author does a wonderful job with some twists and turns, especially at the end – and a little danger tossed in for good effect. Even though Adrian was too serious and stodgy a lot of the time, Edmund made up for it.
This story had a somewhat interesting plot in my opinion and everything gets explained in the end. It does seem extreme that the earl drew up such a drastic and cruel arrangement all because a 12 year old child did not want her step daughter to leave her though.
Had to reAd this as fast as possible as it kept me enthralled all the way through. Loved all the characters and found few errors of any kind. Well written and get entertaining. .Recommended highly.😉
I love being part of the NERFA Contest as it helps me find new amazing gems like this one. I really enjoyed the story. The conflicts between the main characters was believable and well written. I don't think I ever felt bored reading this book and definitely want to read more in this series!
The pacing of the plot was a tad slow in the beginning pages. It was a struggle to get through the first quarter of the book. But, in the end, I am glad I stuck with it, as there was some romance to be found in this romance book.
Great characters, intrigue, humor and a terrific story tied up with a happily ever after. First I've read from this author & haven't seen another of her books yet, if any. Regardless, if this is her first book, she should keep writing, she has a gift.
I loved Anna and most of the other characters in the book but the H was such a jerk through the book that I could only give it 3 stars. He waited until the end of the book to tell Anna that he loved her. WTH. His attitude towards her changed when he found out she was wealth.

The story didnt match the description; the blurb read as though it was a marriage of convenience story. But it wasnt and I still enjoyed the entire book.
For a debut book it was surprisingly good. I would definitely read more from her. I felt her characters were complete and they don't leave you wondering. Good read.
