I read each book separately, not as the boxed set that is offered here at a discount.
I have separated my review into 4 parts, one for each book. There are several characters that appear in more than 1 book, giving some continuity or different Point of View of the same incident. However, each book stands alone and can be read in any order. I have enjoyed the thoughtfulness of the stories, because they are deeper than just a quick “boy meets girl, boy gets girl, boy marries girl” type of romance. All do have HEA endings, are without cursing and are appropriate for all ages. But there is also food for thought in each book.

Book 5- Ruined and Redeemed
Raped and then urged by your parents to marry the rapist-what would you do?
That is the dilemma facing Charlotte. Kenneth , her childhood friend that volunteers to marry her, is suddenly killed in the war, leaving Charlotte without hope and temporarily insane. Instead of killing herself, she suddenly decides to kill the friend Kenneth followed into the war to protect. However, an innocent man drinks the poison and dies. Charlotte is then sent to an insane asylum, with her parents declaring her dead.
A fire at the asylum allowed Charlotte to escape. Ultimately, a stranger finds her unconscious and takes her home to be cared for by the family physician. It is against this background that the story is painted: How Charlotte regains her senses, overcomes her fear of men, and ultimately regaining her place in society.
An example of true love is held up against an example of selfish abuse of a wife, so the reader can learn to appreciate true love and not take it for granted. We see 2 women struggle with carrying a child from a man who abused them, giving the reader insight into the heartaches such women go through to try to accept and love the child, despite the father.
We see characters from several other of Ms. Wolf’s books, as they make an appearance and play a role in the story. I found this story more gripping and the characters better developed in this book than in some of the other books. There is no cursing in this Regency Romance with a HEA ending. Readers in later teens and beyond will appreciate the serious issues involved in Charlotte’s struggle to overcome her assault.

Book 6- Betrayed & Blessed
Tristan’s Story
In this book, we find out why Henrietta’s brother Tristan (from “Abandoned and Protected”), did not come home for her wedding. Just as Henrietta suffered long-term effects from the abuse in their family, so, too, has Tristan. Whereas it forged Henrietta into a strong woman, determined to be able to defend herself, Tristan has allowed the verbal abuse of his uncle to lower his self esteem, and be submissive to him even as an adult, hopeful that somehow he will gain approval from this uncle.
Add a third victim of abuse, Beth, whose mother took her away from a physically abusive father and raised her on her own. Beth was told her father had died when she was young, and she never thought to question her mother about her father’s family. When Beth’s mother abruptly dies, she is left with a clue to her mother’s past and she begins her search for further information on her family. Beth turns out “normal”, as she was removed from the abuser so young.
Although abuse and its effects are an undercurrent, this book still is a romance, and does have a happy ending. Ms. Wolf has again successfully drawn in old characters and added new ones, whose own stories may well be told in future books.
This was a clean book, with no cursing (despite what one reviewer wrote) and no description of the intimacy that is alluded to. Romance readers of all ages will enjoy this book. It also brings to the fore the various lingering effects that abuse can have on adults.
I received this book as a gift. My review is my own opinion, as I think readers of Regency Romances will enjoy this book.

Book 7-Deceived & Honoured:
A Journey of Self-Exploration
A farmer, turned soldier, earning a barony for his service, falls for the earl’s beautiful daughter, Madeline. What could be wrong with this picture? Only that the young beauty is determined to marry no one lower than an earl, as she feels this is her due. So, she falls for an earl, but unbeknownst to her, this particular earl is unscrupulous, desirous only of her dowry, and has ruined other young girls. Seeing trouble coming as the young debutante leaves the ballroom with the earl soon following her, our gallant baron Derek gallops to the rescue. After thwarting the earl’s advance, Derek goes searching for Madeline, finding her alone in the Library. Before he can say much to her, in comes Madeline’s aunt Odelia, announcing that due to them being alone, Madeline is compromised and they must marry. Odelia leaves to find her brother, Madeline’s father, and thus the stage is set for Madeline to marry this man, whose name she does not yet know!
Thus begins this delightful story, of the struggles of two strangers trying to cobble together a marriage. The manor Derek was given, Huntington House, is a run-down place, barely fit to inhabit. The former baron had let his home and his entire estate fall to ruin, cared nothing for the well-being of his tenants whose cottages were even worse than the manor. Derek leaves his new wife in London, as he realizes she does not want to be with him, giving her permission to live as she wishes. He want her as a wife, only if she truly wants him. He goes to his manor, where his sister & her family and his mother have already started living. After seeing the deplorable condition of the tenants, Derek begins helping them repair their homes first, doing the bare minimum to keep his house going.
Finding herself at a loss of what to do and where to go after the season is over, Madeline packs some belongings and is taken to Huntington House. Never in her worst nightmare did she think her husband’s home would be as terrible as she found it, and that her life would be without servants from this point on. Culture shock-that is what Madeline faces.
The story then shows how slowly, each person finds their way to developing a working relationship with each other, while sleeping separately, neither wanting to open themselves up to possible rejection by the other. Life goes on and they become involved in the cares of the tenants, the well-being of the animals and the others living in the household. Madeline finally finds the courage to face small fears and conquers them, building her confidence to face bigger challenges. At times, each fears the other harbors secret feelings and desires for another, which sabotages their efforts to draw close. Mistaking the comfort Derek gives to his friend’s widow for unfaithfulness to her, Madeline draws away from Derek just when they are starting to have marital relations, putting them back to square one.
Life-threatening illness in Derek’s nephew gives Madeline the opportunity to show her love for the family and strength of character to have the courage to do what needs to be done to try to save the child’s live-riding alone to London for the doctor in the dead of night. This helps Madeline to have confidence in herself and to see she does have abilities that make her have worth as a person.
One thread running through this story, is of an insecure young woman, born to wealth, who feels her only worth is measured in how well she can marry. Madeline is too young and immature to have developed any sense of self worth outside of how the ton views her. Her journey to finding herself successfully comes about as she seeks to find a place in her husband’s life. Her values, her skills in homemaking, in caring for the needs of the animals and tenants are all challenged in this story. Growth comes as a result of her being willing to change both her abilities and her values. By the end of the story we see the emergence of a competent young baroness who is willing to work alongside the farmers and their families as they work to overcome life’s hardships and problems.
Derek, on the other hand, has developed a sense of worth and competency by helping to care for his family since age 10 when his father died. Then, in the army, he further developed leadership abilities that made him stand out from among his peers. However, he still carries in his mind prejudices against those born into the peerage, thinking they all have a sense of entitlement, and do not want to get their hands dirty doing the work of the common man. Both Madeline and Derek come to a more balanced view of others, trying to see the value in each person for what he is rather than on to what rank he was born. This is a good lesson for all of us.
Although some passionate kissing takes place, it is only vaguely described and no objectionable scenes are included, allowing even younger readers to enjoy this journey of self-exploration.

Book 8- Sacrificed & Reclaimed
How can a crippled soldier, who willingly left family to purse his dreams of glory at war, find his place in his family again?
Edward had selfishly left Meagan and their 2 children to go fight on the continent without concern about the family he was leaving behind. Meagan had let him go, realizing that to hold him back she would certainly lose him.
Reluctant to make known the fact he had survived, although broken in body, Edward finally made his way home, only to find his family had moved to his friend’s estate. He mistakenly thought his friend Derek had married Megan, and in his anger he found the strength to search them out. When finally arriving, Edward discovers that Derek and Meagan had not married. Megan and the children had their own home, which had been destroyed, and were eagerly anticipating moving back into a new one at the same site.
How does this couple overcome Edward’s guilt at leaving, guilt at staying away and guilt of not being the man he once was due to his injury? Guilt and self pity weigh Edward down. It is only by his wife’s insight into Edward and her love for him, that Edward can be healed.
This book speaks to a deeper truth: that anyone can fail to appreciate what they have and go off searching for an illusion, leaving the true treasure behind. How can the one left endure, recover and be willing to aid the returning one when the illusion dissolves? We see the elements required in Meagan: enduring love for Edward, love for her family, an acceptance of another’s failings, and being able and willing to forgive when Edward returns home. Further, an ability to see into Edward, past his outward display of confusing emotions, to see the truth in his heart and the conflicts therein, making his outward behavior corresponding to his inward confusion. Such understanding can help Meagan express her love for Derek, her confidence in his ability to care for his family, which eventually helps him to see value in himself and be willing to take the necessary steps toward his family, to begin family life again.

Ruined & Redeemed: A tragic story, one the leaves one feeling sad and distressed for victims of violence and abuse everywhere. As a facilitator of support groups, I have heard stories like these, and they certainly fuel the crime series we see on television. However, one facet was brought out very clearly, that Charlotte was a survivor and when faced with death, she made a choice to live. When she finds herself under the care of Lord Ashwood as a companion to his younger sister, she feels safe in the role of a servant. However, her world is turned upside down once more when Sebastian Campbell comes to take refuge from his own family with Lord Ashwood. When he sees Charlotte, or Lotte as she calls herself, he sees her hurt and pain, but there is another level at which deep calls to deep, and he instinctively knows that she is the woman he wants in his life. The story is well written with a good flow of language and a well thought out plot.

Betrayed & Blessed: A suspenseful Regency romance, this book is well written but at times I found myself getting frustrated with the hero Certainly Tristan displays the results of a lifetime of conditioning and brainwashing, making one realise just how scary propaganda of any type can be. Beth, on the other hand, has lived in the shadows, not understanding that her life is very different to what it could have been. Both young people have been living a lie, but in her way, Beth is the stronger of the two personalities. Fortunately, Tristan has a faithful friend in Derek, who realises that someone is plotting against Tristan, but circumstances are manipulated so cleverly that the truth remains hidden.

Deceived & Honoured: Well written, this book touched me in a way that I didn’t expect. Most Regency romance novels either take the stance of a relationship between a couple of equal status or that the heroine moves from rags to riches. It’s unusual to find the heroine having to take a step down into poverty from riches. When Madeline finds herself being compromised by the wrong man, she is furious. She never gave Derek a chance to explain why he came after her at the ball, and he had too much pride to force the issue. We first met Derek, protector to his best friend, in a previous novel in this series, and he remains as honourable and steadfast throughout this book.

Sacrificed & Reclaimed: In this post-Napoleonic war romance, I found myself being drawn into the sadness that surrounded Meagan - firstly when her husband went to war; then when he was proclaimed dead; and thirdly when he unexpectedly returned a broken man. In this modern era, we have been made aware of the devastating effects of war, PTSD, rehabilitation of soldiers and the bombardment of horror over international news almost on a daily basis. However, when we read the history books, the horrific impact of war on the men and their families of the Regency era is glossed over and apart from memorising dates, it has little impact on us 200 years later. On the other hand, Edward is suffering not only from PTSD but also from a very deep depression. He rues the mistakes he made, little realising that whilst he has changed and is another man altogether, his precious wife is too as she has been left with the aftermath of having to deal with his supposed death. In many ways, this was a tragic story, one that jerked at the heartstrings, but the triumphant message is that love conquers all.

As with all the other books by this author, this box set is clean and can be read by any age group. It is part of a series and as such characters from previous books also appear in this one and they do end on a very positive and happy note. I received a copy of this book for free and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I read advance copies of all of these delightful stories and am very happy to recommend them as a box set. Each story can be read as a stand-alone though the characters from previous books make appearances in other books from time to time too.
Here is my review of this box set:

5. Ruined & Redeemed: The Earl's Fallen Wife
This story is full of compassion, forgiveness and the building of trust and love between people. It is an amazing second chances story and is written in a way that yanked (yes, really yanked) at my heartstrings and every now and then I found myself crying and the next moment feeling totally elated or grinning. I love it when an author is able to make one 'feel' with just the use of a few well placed words and this is what Bree Wolf is able to do.
It is also a very powerful love story with a mystery that slowly unfolds. In it you will find a villain who really goes out of his way to harm those that he is in contact with and then there are the family members and friends who support the two very strong main characters throughout the book.

6. Betrayed and Blessed: The Viscount's Shrewd Wife
What a very shrewd lady Beth is! She is clever and loving, has a mystery to solve about who her father is but when she finds out, that is when her real troubles begin.
Tristan we learned about in book 4 of this series as he is Henrietta's baby brother. There is someone who wants his downfall and his life and thoughts are manipulated constantly.
When Tristan and Beth meet it is definitely the beginning of a love that cannot be contained and it goes without say that there is the normal "does he/she? doesn't he/she?" thing going on between them.
Bree Wolf always seems to have the extremely interesting characters and storyline to write about and has not failed me yet. I loved this story and am very happy to recommend it as well as the rest of this series.

7. Deceived & Honoured - The Baron's Vexing Wife
Take a young lady who is born into the life and a young gentleman who is awarded the status of Baron by the Crown for his war efforts, put them together and shake well - the result is an extremely interesting one with lots of 'Should I?' or 'Shouldn't I?' by both of them and yet neither of them seems able to say those three magic words to one another.
Throw in a bit of jealousy, a lot of 'I'm useless' and the story gets even more intriguing.
Then make sure that the story is written by Bree Wolf and you have a page-turner that will entertain you and keep you wanting more and more stories by her.
Have you guessed that I loved this book?

8. Sacrificed and Reclaimed : The Soldier's Daring Widow
This really was a very different type of story for this series. The returning soldier, Edward is a confused and injured man who believes he does not deserve his family, but Meagan, his wife has other ideas about this.
It is an emotional second chances love story that made me feel for both of them.
I loved Meagan's strength of character and her determination and also the fragile side that Edward showed.
Though of novella length, Bree Wolf has packed a lot into this story and the words flow off the page with speed in a very enjoyable way. I am very happy to recommend the novella and hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
I received free advance copies of these books and the above are my voluntary and unbiassed reviews.

I received a free copy of Hearts to be Mended by Bree Wolf and this review is given freely.
Hearts to be Mended picks up Diana and Arthur's lives from where they leave off in Rules to Broken but also features two new clean romances. The love stories of Henry with Arthur's sister Eleanor and Henry's brother Nick with Eleanor's cousin Connie are troubled but ultimate end happily. Written in the Regency style, this novel ties together couples from prior novels,is suspenseful, contains a family scandal, has lots of well meaning meddling family members, multiple babies, and ends with a cliffhanger.
5 stars
I received a free copy of the novella Winning Her Hand book 7 of A Forbidden Love Novella Series by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Winifred and Trent's romance is a simple and sweet romance involving a man finally having the courage to express his love after a 5 year separation and a woman who finally accepts that what she feels for her childhood friend is a strong and abiding love. Seeking the happiness her parents had, Winifred forms a pact with her brother Griffin to enter a marriage based on compatibility rather than for love. Realistic characters, some jealousy, seemly random meetings, and a cliffhanger make this an interesting and fast paced read
5 stars
I received a free copy of the novella Conquering Her Heart book 8 of A Forbidden Love Novella by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Winifred and Griffin's pact continues in this fast paced novella with Griffin being the target of his mischievous matchmaking married sister. Winifred seeing through the facade that recently orphaned Abigail has erected to protect herself against money hungry suitors matches Abigail with her caring if slightly clueless brother. Joined in solidarity, Abigail and Griffin make a pact of their own. I loved the fiercely loyal and loving personality of Abigail, the crotchety Grandfather, the humor evoked by the multiple conniving yet lovingly interfering characters contained in this book, and of course the happy ending.

Ruined and Redeemed

It had been a few months since I read book 3 and I'd forgotten Charlotte's story so it took me a while to place all the pieces. I enjoyed Sebastian and Charlotte's story, but definitely got frustrated with Charlotte often about holding everything in. Sebastian is a great guy and he is so wonderful and patient with Charlotte. I like how Bree builds on these characters and takes someone you either didn't like or you felt sorry for and turns them into someone you care about.

Betrayed and Blessed

After reading book 4, it was really hard to not skip ahead and read this one next. The setup was great, but I feel this book didn't quite meet my expectations. I still enjoyed the book, but I didn't like knowing who the villain was before I even read the book, it lost the intrigue. Even though I didn't know exactly how things would turn out, it was pretty easy to guess. That said, Beth and Tristan still have a sweet relationship and I may read it again one day.

Deceived and Honoured

Lady Madeline and Derek or Lord Ainsworth couldn't be more different. At first I was confused about the term reversed Cinderella, but I finally got it and it really worked for this story. They are a great couple and I love who they become by working together.

Sacrificed and Reclaimed

This was a hard book for me to read, yet I loved it at the same time. I understand Edwards feelings of guilt and not being worthy of his family, but it sure hurt to read about what those feelings did to Meagan. She's an incredibly strong woman who would not give up on her husband. Beautiful story about how love can conquer all.

Human failure and negative reasoning are sustained due to a naivete and artlessness as found in the characters of Love's Second Chance Box Set Two. Yet a champion would take up the challenge and persevere the lost soul attempting to prevent self destruction and relieve inner torture for the reward would be momentous and meaningful. Finding herself free of the Institution's confinement, Charlotte suppresses a genuine fear and Sebastian's patience is the soothing balm to cure her in Ruined & Redeemed: The Earl's Fallen Wife. Recently married to Elisabeth, Tristan deals with ongoing treachery and deceit occurrences. Rescued from an early demise, his champion keeps him safe and his bride gives him courage to endure for the villain will be exposed and justice will prevail in Betrayed & Blessed: The Viscount's Shrewd Wife. Compromised Madeline married a captivated Derek who felt unworthy of his wife due to his lack of fortune. He returned to his house of ruins to begin repairs only to find that his wife had followed him. Her life of luxury had thus ended and her future would hold many valuable lessons in Deceived & Honoured: The Baron's Vexing Wife. His memory claimed her heart as Meagan lived her life through their children. It came as no surprise when the stranger was none other than her supposed deceased militia husband Edward. His no mercy guilt would not allow him to stay. Her undying love would challenge him to remain. The pendulum swings in Sacrificed & Reclaimed The Soldier’s Daring Widow.

I have read each of these charming stories individually and am very happy to recommend them as a box set. The books can be read as stand-alone stories, although the characters from previous books make cameo appearances in subsequent books from time to time. The storyline of each book is well written with lots of twists and turns to keep your interest from start to finish. Each couple struggles to overcome past events which threaten their current happiness. Bree doesn’t hesitate to include depression or prejudice in her books, allowing the reader to better understand the feelings and background of the characters. An excellent series of stories, I look forward to reading more from this author.

Clean romance

Four stories of love, second chances and adventure.
The characters and plots are very well developed and keep the reader engaged.
There are such well written characters that they are easy to love or hate as the author intended.
There is mystery and suspense as well as self discovery and a wonderful helping of romance!
The box set is exactly the way I like to follow the stories as they overlap with the characters so it makes it more in depth but they can be read as a stand alone as well.
I look forward to reading the next box set!

Splendid box set!

I thoroughly enjoyed every story within this boxed set, but Tristan and Beth's story was the most intriguing. I thought Charlotte and Sebastian's story was good but found it hard to believe that everyone was willing to forgive her past malicious acts even given her reasons. And I highly recommend Derek and Madeline's story. Derek is by far the most honorable of the men in this set of stories.

A selection of four stories that can be read as stand-alone. They each have a uniquely interesting way of telling how the era was in those times. They are clean stories. They do talk of rape, bulling ,survival and loss. They have to learn to trust and forgive. I received an ARC and I love Bree Wolf's stories.I highly recommend reading these books.

This is a great series because there is actual character development and the stories are not the typical "bodice ripper" which I do not care for. Bree Wolf writes stories that have ups and downs, but always gives the reader a happy ending. Don't we all want that?
