This is the second book that I have read in The Cocktail Girls series and I absolutely loved the first by Jamie Schlosser.
A little disappointed here with this one. Frankie Love's story just didn't seem very original. It felt like she simply inserted her "standard formulaic" recipe of smutty, mountain man into this novella.
I really wanted something more and also different from this author.
It did not work for me on many levels, as I particularly didn't care for the scene in the strip club either. I like naughty, smutty and alpha-males but that truly offended the feminist in me. Way too degrading!! He practically called her a slut or maybe he did, I don't quite remember as I read this late last night.
Oh well, on to the next one.

I was excited to read The Cocktail Girls series and it's my first book. I was enjoying it until I reached the part I didn't like . Maybe I'm in the minority but to be honest, if it's not a short story, it would be a dnf for me. I kept telling myself to go on and finish it.
The story is about Levi and Lucy.
He's in Vegas for his brother's bachelor party. She's working two jobs in order to take care of her Granny. She's one of the cocktail girls at the Little Black Dress and she's their waitress.
The attraction was instant but she has rules and she's saving herself for marriage.
It has an epilogue.

Hot and sweet!
Cute little safe read. Sweet with a side of steam. It was just the right length for a lunch break need. It definitely would have had a higher rating without the stripper scene. That brought it down tremendously for me personally.
-no cheating
-no ow/om drama
-no violence of a sexual nature
-minimal secondary characters but the guys he was with were real tools (including his brothee)
-ok epilogue 1 year out

I respected her stance of no sex before marriage. It’s different and valuable. But within an hour, this girl was caving and ticking off her bases: first kiss, first blow job, first time being fingered, having oral sex. It was immature and stupid. Felt like he married her 2.5 seconds later so he could have sex. Degrading is all. Not going to read the entire series, I think certain books will be winners just because a certain author will write it.

Perfectly Growly
Levi is a perfectly growly mountain man who ends up in Vegas for a few days. Immediately, he locks eyes on Lucy. She's sweet and innocent, even if she has a job that may not convey that image. Together they sparkle and sizzle! Such a great quick read!

This book felt like a person buying a dress five sizes too small and still thinking, "I'll make it fit."
In this story, there were many mentions of "old-fashioned" and the rest just didn't work. The man was a jerk and misogynist. And he was depicted as a savior (that raised my hackles up) and on top of it all, the couple had zero chemistry. The heroine had more chemistry with a slot machine.

Levi and Lucy were amazing! I loved this book. It was an old-fashioned romance of sorts but didn't skimp on the sexy times of the Frankie Love insta I have come to love! A must read!

Cupcake porn, sexy quick read
Cupcake porn because it's a quick treat, not a horribly involved time commitment or chapter after chapter of dry character development. Nope. They meet, they're attracted to each other, sexy talk, lust, and HEA. Plus a distractingly ripped guy on the cover.
This is a series of short stories that pack a lot of heat into each, if the first one I just finished is any indication. It's a nice way to sample each author's style and see who you'd like to read more from. Because it's a short story, it feels like a lot is crammed in - there's actually more character background than I'd expect for the length of the story, but it goes quickly.
Written in a dual POV with plenty of suspension of disbelief needed, this is still a fun, sexy read complete with a mountain man alpha male and hard working, sexy female. I'd look for more from this author. An example of the writing, which drops f-bombs like punctuation and has graphic sex:
"She asks if I'd like the crepe of the day. I scowl and order eggs, scrambled. Toast, white. Ask 'em to throw in some breakfast potatoes with a side of ketchup. No need to class this act up. I'm a man, straight up, and as I roll up my flannel shirtsleeves and dig in to the breakfast, I'm reminded that bending my ideals for anyone isn't something that'll likely ever happen."

Quick and sweet
This first book in the cocktail girls series is a sweet novella about Levi and lucy. Levi is in Vegas for his brother's bachelor party to make sure his brother's college friends don't get him in too much trouble. As a mountain man Vegas is not levi's preferred place to be. however Just as he enters his hotel he sees a beauty that he can't stop thinking about, hours later that same lady (lucy) happens to be a waitress at a bar he and the bachelor party are attending and with some flirting over his order Levi is hooked. Levi soon learns that lucy has some rules she never breaks, she is saving herself for marriage and with that bombshell which normally has her previous dates running what will levi's reaction be and how will the bachelor get away end.
This was a sweet read i enjoyed the characters i love mountain men books so it was my kind of read, I would recommend it to those who just want to relax with a quick fun adult read as trust me it may be sweet but it's naughty too.

Frankie Love is my go to author for short quick romance reads. She is terrific at creating great characters who have a lot of chemistry combined with believable insta-love stories. Levi and Lucy's story is a sweet, steamy mountain man in the city insta-love story. Lucy is unwilling to compromise herself and her values even though she feels a strong attraction to Levi. For me, I really enjoy how this author writes her male characters. They are usually strong, alpha males who fall fast and hard but never try to change anything about his love. This is the case in this story as well. Levi falls for Lucy without even knowing her name and as he gets to know here, no matter how much he would like to seduce her, he respects her decisions and ultimately all ends well.
If you are looking for a quick easy romance read filled with strong, sassy, sweet, vulnerable heroines and the alpha males/mountain men who love them, I would recommend this author. I have never read a story that I haven't enjoyed. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy provided to me by the author.

His old Fashioned by Frankie love
I liked it fast and easy. This novella was instant but you still got to see the love form. Levi might have gone to Vegas to have fun with his brother but this is where he meets Lucy and finds a reason to get her attention. Lucy is the good girl she might work in sin city to get money but she is focused on staying a virgin for her future husband, but as soon as meeting Levi she doesn't know what she feels. You will definitely get drunk on this story and make you wanting more.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read. This was the story of Levi and Lucy! The two are instantly and immediately drawn to one another. The chemistry between the two was explosive! Levi desperately wants Lucy but she has a set of moral rules she lives by hat usually scare men away. Levi is no ordinary man though, he accepts Lucy's rules and sets of to win her heart. This was a quick, sexy and sweet Insta love story!

This is a really great short story. The plot is well formed and it kept me interested all the way through in fact I was surprised by the ending and how totally cool it was. These two people had so many things alike but one was just trying to survive in a city that could be cruel.
Levi is in Vegas to celebrate his bachelor party. He doesn’t like being in the city he would rather be in his cabin up in the mountains but Luke is his little brother and they are all the family they have left. Luke has is college friends with him and they could get into all sorts of trouble, that is one reason Levi is there to be the voice of reason. While the guys are talking Levi see’s a beautiful young lady in a skirt and pink sweater with long blond hair that went all the way down her back. She didn’t look like she belonged in a place like this casino he tried to follow her with his eyes but lost her. Before they start their night the guys decide to go to The Little Black Dress the bar in the casino. The name of the casino bar is just what it is all of the waitresses wear little black dresses for their uniforms. Levi is shocked and surprised to see the young lady from the lobby was working in the bar.
Lucy is working at The Little Blake dress but she would rather be any where else but this just happens to be one of the few places that she can make enough money to afford the shared apartment with three of the other girls. It still wasn’t enough though she had her granny to take care of whom she had to put into a nursing home to get health care. Her grandparents had raised her on a farm outside of Vegas but her grandfather had become ill and died, soon after her grandmother started having health problems and they had to sell the farm. Unfortunately the nursing home though it was not even close to being the best ate up that money quickly. So she took on a second job during the night to cover those cost. Lucy had never been with a man before once she told them that she was not going to be with anyone until she was married they would quickly disappear.
Levi and Lucy were attracted with one another. After she had finished her shift at the LBD they met afterwards and talked. She had to leave for her second job though she didn’t tell him what it was but he did know that she was saving herself for marriage and respected her for that. They were both falling for one another but what is going to happen when Levi finds out what she does for her second job. Will it be the end of their budding relationship?

His old fashioned is a part of a series of standalone novella’s called the cocktail girls. After reading this story, I cannot wait to read more books from this collection. This story is short, fast paced and sweet. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I really liked Levi and his reaction when he first saw Lucy. He wanted her to be his from the moment he saw her. I was amused at how he acted when he discovered she was a cocktail waitress. I liked Lucy. I liked that she worked two jobs in order to take care of her Granny. Lucy had some sass and I liked that she directed it at Levi.
The chemistry between Levi and Lucy was clear to see and I really liked them as a couple. I liked that Levi respected the rules that Lucy set. He didn’t try and push her to drop them.
I liked the entire story but the ending was my favourite. I liked that Lucy and Levi took Lucy’s granny with them for a fresh start. They didn’t forget about her.

A Lunch Time Quickie. 2 Star's
If your looking for a quick lunch time or late evening insta-love, for the more matured audience read, then this may just wet your appetite.
An Alpha mountain man and an innocent cocktail waitress/stripper both find exactly what they're looking for in the city of sin.
However, I personally didn't connect with either of the main characters, and felt detached for some reason, hence the 2 stars.
It wasn't a bad story, it just didn't hold my full attention throughout.
I downloaded this and other Cocktail Girls books for free as their blurbs sounded good, so hopefully I'll enjoy the next one more.
I also have to say, that I've read other books written by Ms Frankie Love, and found them most enjoyable.
I recommend you read this yourself and make your own judgement, as just because it wasn't quite to my liking, doesn't mean it won't be yours.

This is a book in the Cocktail Series by various authors. I will be honest that I have not read the series, but if they are anything like this latest from Frankie Love, then I need to get the whole darn thing! I loved this. It was short and to the point without losing any of that over the top instalove that we we always get and love from Frankie. I loved this book and could have kept on reading! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
