PLEASE DON'T - I AM JUST TRYING TO LEARN SPANISH! Really fun book that looks at how we can change when others take an interest in who we are. Simple sentence construction that really helps by highlighting certain words. The illustrations are fantastic - I will put this on my list of books to read again to 'refresh' certain words as my vocabulary (hopefully) grows.

Chupacabra wants to eat a young goat. The goat tries to find other alternatives for Chupacabra’s meal, but the goat eater is adamant. The solution is adorable.

I liked the story and the illustrations, but the bilingual aspect is not as comprehensive as I expected.

This is an exceptional Board Book for kids who want to read something different. Chupacabra only wants to eat goats, but the goat and his friends don't want him to be eaten! They go to their wise grandparents for advice and the grandparents come up with a solution that makes everyone happy. The text makes for a perfect read aloud as it is expressive and reflects the personalities of the characters. The book is in English and Spanish so it's a perfect tool to introduce kids to a few new words, and can be used by people who speak either language! The illustrations are awesome. cute, funny, rich and witty. From the first page with a beautiful scenic background to the final page with a luxurious picnic. Kids will enjoy noticing all of the extra details. This book has it all!

A little Chupacabra is hungry - and he will only eat goats, so, the young goat tries to find Chupacabra something else to eat, but it seems he's a picky eater. Many of goat's friends offer delicious things like flowers, fish and insects, but it takes Goat's grandmother to figure out how to feed a hungry Chupacabra.

Funny illustrations accompany this silly story told in both English and Spanish. We learn the names of animals: Goats/Cabras, Parrot/Lora, Cat/Gat and food: fish/pescado, flowers/flores, orange/naranja -- and many more. This is a great way to teach some simple Spanish words and phrases.

Young Chupacabra is hungry and he only eats one thing--goats! Chupacabra finds a goat and tries to eat him. The goat offers him other things to eat. Chupacabra isn't interested. Goat takes the young one to a bunch of other animals to see if they have anything Chupacabra would like to eat. None of them will do. He only wants to eat goats! Goat finally goes to his Grandma to ask for advice. She suggests making his food in the shape of goats. It works! Put any food shaped like a goat in front of Chupacabra and he'll eat it!

Great for picky eaters or for toddler or preschool storytimes.

I'm a big fan of this book. My six-year-old loves it and we take turns reading pages or lines to each other. His Spanish pronunciation is getting better as we practice with this book, even though I believe there are some errors in the word-order on some pages.

As with the other books by Sullivan that I've read to my children, the art is great and the story is adorable. There's not much of a lesson in this one, but the point is to practice with Spanish, I think. It's a fun little story that has gotten a lot of mileage in our house.

I work at a Library and a co-worker read this book aloud in the break room! Her reading of it was great and so is this little board book! Recommended reading for kiddos parents and Library workers! So cute!

This is a favorite of ours (we actually read it for bedtime last night).

I originally bought this book as a joke to read with my teen sister. And we loved it--thought it was so cute. Big cryptid fans over here. But then, I moved in with my now-husband and eventually got involved with bedtime for his 7-year old son. This book moved with me and it became normal for me to read bedtime books every night he was at our house.

He loved this book the first time we read it. He wanted to try the plantanimals (I haven't mashed those up for him yet, but I need to). He started getting interested in cryptids. And we still read this regularly. I've been doing bedtime reads for a year and a half now? And we still reach for this book often. Is it for younger kids them him? Yes, but I think its telling that the 7-year old still loves this book so so so much. He does want me to read the Spanish parts though, and I took too much French in college to be good at that.

This is one of our big favorites.

This book is great if you are in a culturally blended family and one parent doesnt speak fluently in spanish. Its fun, you get the basics in and you get lots of giggles out of it. The down side is if you are a fluent spanish speaker reading this book. There are educational disadvantages because the book doesnt have complete scentences in spanish. Its broken spanish. I recommend a different book if your the main reader in the house and you speak fluent spanish.

This was great. I write cryptozoology stories and am trying to convince my niece to like it too. She's almost three but she's reading this style of books and I wanted one that introduced her to them easily. She loved the pictures and listened the whole time. And she speaks Spanish, and I don't, so it was nice it is bilingual. It really held her attention and she wanted to hear it again. Awesome job

I hope children love this book as much as I did. I ended up reading it aloud to my boyfriend and doing voices for all the characters too. And don't worry: no goats are harmed in the telling of this story, but a picky chupacabra does learn to compromise. Highly recommended!

I received a digital ARC from the publisher via Edelweiss+.

This is one of those neat books where you might not like it but someone else will. The begining reader format does make it a good book for schools. Plus if you want to brush up on some Spanish you can as well. However, as I read the readers copy there was no pronunciation guide. I'm not sure if there will be in a final edition.

This quirky-cute book introduces Spanish vocab as Goat takes baby chupacabra on a trip around the neighborhood trying to find something--other than Goat!--that he will eat. They get many offerings from other animals, but Chupacabra only wants to eat goats! Finally, Goat takes Chupacabra back home where they come up with a clever solution.

I think they switched the order of some of the Spanish bits-- generally the adjective goes after the noun, so I'm pretty sure it should have said "flores deliciosas" ("delicious flowers") and "insectos jugosos" ("juicy insects") instead of "deliciosas flores" and "jugosos insectos". The rest looked accurate though as far as I could tell, and the illustrations were cute.

Far, far too long for its format; a board book reader would never sit still for this whole story!
That said, it's a cute story with a fresh ending. And I loved the parallel Spanish vocabulary throughout.

Wonderful story, very cute about a hungry chupacabra, and a goat who doesn’t want to be eaten. I thought it was slightly macabre but in the most lovely way for children. Absolutely loved some of the Spanish in the text and just fantastic all around. The illustrations were adorable. Loved it.

It’s a fun book with great art, and some simple Spanish words. There’s a lot of repetition for some that aren’t necessarily going to come in handy (I like goats.) where they could have instead introduced a few other words.

Survival guide for goats.

Read this because a friend is reading it to her granddaughter. If I had a critter, I’d read this to them as well. It could also save the lives of some goats.

Very cute book. Fun illustrations and a cute take on what to do about a picky eater. When in doubt ask Abuela (always good advice). I would have liked it all in both languages though rather than just a few words and phrases here and there. That is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.

This is such a fun way to pick up a few basic Spanish words. The story was funny and the illustrations were Perfecto! I'm an adult, and I was laughing reading this. I'm going to pick it up for a friend's baby shower gift.

This is a super fun and sweet read aloud. Practice Spanish vocabulary while following this picky eater Chupacabra and the goat who tries to find them something other than goat to eat. “¡Yo quiero cabras!”

Had read this awhile ago when I got an ARC from Edelweiss, but it only recently appeared on Goodreads. Enjoyed the funny story about a Chupacabra.

It’s an adorable chupacabra. And I got to read it in a funny chupacabra voice and practice my horribly rusty Spanish. It’s a fun one. My son was yelling, “Yo quiero cabras!” by the end.

Don't ask me why but I find myself reading this one with a Spanish accent - even the English parts. It's great! We read these frequently in my home.
