Rosalee Station is a kind of book that doesn't warrant much dissection. It's a simple book. But either I'm too dumb to see its cogs and gears, or it's deeper than it looks like. Also, it's one of these great books that doesn't make an impression on the mind for a long time.
I didn't know what to make of the humor in this book. It's guttural in nature, wild, hairy, and hoary. There were so many expressions here that I didn't know if they were real or made on the spot. Fart jokes seemed out of place, given that I was imagining the story in real life and not in a cartoon like Family Guy.
I thought the book deserves bonus points for not making the hero commit a dumb mistake. That happens so often in romance books. But to cover the required number of chapters, an unnecessary dramatic event was included right when 4 chapters were left. It wasn't a deal breaker. That's the thing with this book, nothing bad is inexcusable. That's why I gave it four stars.

It seems a tad harsh to be rating this one star, but I could not justify an ‘okay’ rating this time around. I'm sure other readers gelled with it more than I. I do find it hard to listen to characters’ voices that do not match up to their age. It felt like I was listening to people in their 50’s converse as opposed to the young twenty-somethings that they would have been. It is extremely noticeable and very grating. I listened to the audio of this one, the narration was awful and the change of voice between characters unsuccessful. It was not a pleasurable experience unfortunately. The plot was weak, the characters even weaker; I lacked interest from the very beginning.

Rosalee Station is lovely rural romance with a twist. One day Sarah Clarke realised her dream to work on a large rural cattle station when her boyfriend recommends her to be a cook on Rosalee Station. However, Sarah dream did not go to plan. Readers of Rosalee Station will follow Sarah see what happens and does she achieve her goals.
I loved reading Rosalee Station. Mandy Magro does an excellent job of describing the life on a large isolated cattle station that allows the readers to imagine living on a cattle station. I like Mandy Magro writing style and the way Mandy portrays her characters. While reading Rosalee Station, I laugh, and at times I cried. I also started to remember the distance you have to travel in Australia by reading Rosalee Station.

I'm so sorry! I tried to like this book and I did...except I was so annoyed whenever the characters opened their mouths! I got so irked by the constant colloquialisms and then the clunky way the author would explain their meaning to the uninitiated. I couldn't read past Chapter 6, just dreaded picking it up. Again...sorry but I'd read Heart Of Gold 100 times before looking at this again....that's how to write an Australian story without making everyone Captain Ocker.

‘Summer in Mareeba was close to unbearable at times.’
I was looking for a novel set in Queensland and picked up this book. I was in the mood for something light, and this rural romance fitted the bill.
Sarah Clarke travels from Mareeba to Rosalee Station with her boyfriend Brad. Sarah will work as a cook and is looking forward to it. But within days, her relationship with Brad is over. Sarah decides to stay, and then realises that she is attracted to Matt (the station owners’ son). Sigh. Matt is already in a relationship, but he does not seem happy.
What happens, dear reader, is inevitable but it takes a while. A few twists, a surfeit of similes and a touch of tragedy combined with some evocative description of the countryside and a glimpse of life on a station in remote Queensland.
If you enjoy Australian rural romance, then Ms Magro’s novels may well suit.

As the day pass, Sarah and Brad’s relationship is in trouble, but Sarah is determined to stay and finish her time at Rosealee Station.
Mandy Magro is a talented Aussie author and when it comes to writing rural romance she is right up there with the best of them. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Recommended.

I always like Mandy Magro's books and this was no exception. It had a range of interesting characters out in the middle of nowhere on a cattle station. Sarah the main character moved to the station with her boyfriend to work and from there things went wrong with her relationship and they broke up. Sarah stayed on the station working and she grew to have feelings for the owners son. When she left the station to go home she thought that she would never see him again. Was she wrong? Read it and see!

Sarah Clarke is happy on her family's property, but what she really wants is to experience life in the outback. When her boyfriend Brad, offers an opportunity to be a bush cook for for a couple of months at Rosalee Stattion in the outback, she jumps at the chance. Happy to be there, her happiness doesn't last long, but the station owner's son Matt, can't help but admire her for her hard work and grit. Sarah also admire's Matt, but can anything come of their mutual admiration?
I loved this book and read it one sitting. I loved the descriptions Mandy Magro gave of the station and Sarah's experiences cooking in the bush. I really felt as if I was there watching and experiencing everything. It was interesting to learn that mustering can also be done using helicopter, but with properties being as large as they are, it does make sense. I loves Sarah's gusto at doing something new and doing it wholeheartedly. While there weren't any great surprises in the story,that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I'm sure if you're a fan of rural/western stories or even just romance novels, then you will enjoy this book.

Rosalee Station had the potential to be quite a good book, but, unfortunately, it didn’t even come close to reaching its potential. The plot idea for the novel was an interesting one, but it wasn’t explored thoroughly enough. This combined with the predictability of the resolution, which was caused by the absolute lack of plot twists, is what mainly let the novel down.
However, Rosalee Station might have been less of a disappointment had the characters been developed properly into interesting three dimensional characters, instead of the rather unlikable characters, which seemed almost stereotypical, that they were actually portrayed as in the novel. This flaw was most likely partially the cause of the relationship between the main characters lacking any real chemistry and seeming almost unbelievable.
Unfortunately, the plot problems combined with the uninteresting characters and the oddly distant ‘relationship’ between the main characters didn’t make Rosalee Station an overly enjoyable read.

I didn't know this, but 𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 is Mandy Magro's debut novel! It was lovely to see how her writing style began and how she's been able to capture the Aussie-ness in her words right from the start!

Taking up the position of cook on Rosalee Station in the outback is a dream come true for Sarah. Even better, her boyfriend is already working on the station helicopter mustering.

I really enjoyed this book! It made me feel as though I was right there in the country with all the characters. I would most definitely recommend this Rosalee Station to others as it was a great read! 😊

Aaah this book was painful
I didn't mind the characters and the story line but I found the writing a bit cringe worthy with girls calling each other mate and telling fart jokes. It just didn't flow nicely in parts
This was an audio book for me and the narrator was terrible with some voices, at times so bad I wanted to dump it altogether
An easy holiday read but do you self a favour and don't listen to it as audio
I will read the sequel tho to see what happens so that tells you it's not a total disaster and I was received that it wasn't a constant barrage of how sexy, stud worthy, good looking etc the cowboy was as I've had to endure in other rural romance stories

I read Electronic version of this book from 7.30pm last night till 3.00am this morning. I just could not stop reading it. I was completely drawn in by the characters, countryside and quaint sayings I learnt, and especially I laughed so often and so hard that i brought myself to tears and almost wet myself. Edge of seat was another regular spot too!
Now I just want to get in the car and drive to Rosalee Station right away...even though it does not actually exist.
It was an excellent read.....thanks once again Mandy!

This was a great story, but I did find the amount of Aussie Slang a bit over used. Obviously being an Australian I knew what it all meant, but would think that anyone from overseas would have had a problem with some of it. I enjoyed the characters in the story and found them quite genuine. Looking forward to reading more by this Author.

I enjoyed this book by Mandy Magro . It was a great read about two young people finding love when they least expect it. When they are both in other relationship that are having problems but with the help of friends and family they both find the way to each other. A bit of Aussie slang is the the book as well as the story is set out on the Australian Outback.

This book was my in the car book and as we have not bee going far since COVID, it sat unread for a while. Picked it up and thought it time time finish is off. Enjoyable read with a happy ending for all.

I loved this book. I am a huge fan of Mandy Magro's writing. I really enjoyed the story about friendships, family and relationships. I look forward to the next two books in this series. It will be great to revisit the characters again!

I really enjoyed this book in the end! For the first half I found the "ockerisms" painful ! Tring too hard with the Aussie slang ! The author seemed to settle down in the end and then, I loved it!
