This book is full of gorgeous illustrations, and loaded with facts. The timeline at the start is a handy reference that I wound up flipping back to several times while reading this book with my son. Every night he was excited for story time, and was totally absorbed.
Don't let the title fool you, this book begins at a time before dinosaurs, and even extends to the world after dinosaurs. Although you realize while you read it that they're still among us, and you'll see them every time a bird flies overhead.
before, I wasn't really interested in animals that went extinct over 60 million years ago but I wanted to try something new for myself so I read this book. honestly, my only goal was to remember all the dinosaurs from the book but there were too many so I couldn't remember most of them but I actually enjoyed it because I had no idea that millions of years ago such giant and massive creatures were walking eating and drinking on the earth. but I was also really interested in facts like pterodactyl wasn't actually a bird because they had to get to the high ground and jump but they can't just fly like birds or why the biggest dinosaur argentinosaur became extinct it said that their size helped them as protection from Trex or that kind of animal but because they were too big they needed a lot of time to get cool because their bodies heat up really fast. so I did really liked that and this book changed my mind about dinosaurs so i like it again.
A solid book for children. It is less dense than the DK books for adults and has fewer and larger pictures per page. The illustrations strike me as somewhat fanciful but they are colorful artist reconstructions. There are some dino skeletons here and there and a bit about ancient insects in amber. In general this is a decent book, but likely not the ideal choice for the old generation as DK has many other books on the subject.
This book is what I read for my nonfiction book. It is a fun and easy to understand guide to dinosaurs. It's full of cool pictures and interesting facts about different types of dinosaurs and what their world was like. It's a great way for kids to learn about these amazing creatures that lived long ago. I highly reccomend this book to little boy and girls who are interested in dinosaurs.
Wonderful representation of my favorite topic. Thank you so much.
Topic exciting. I love learning the past history of animal life. Its amazing to see what has been found.Brilliant. To so much similarities between then and now birds are shocking.
Another excellent dinosaur book by Woodward. This book is mostly illustrations. It' is also centered around themes rather than specific dinosaurs; colorful crests, early amphibians, early life on land, arms and hands, though there are plenty of illustrations of individual dinosaurs.
