Hand Lettering for Laughter: Gorgeous Art with a Hilarious Twist

Rate this book
Top selling author and hand lettering expert Amy Latta is back with her third book, aimed at spreading happy vibes and providing more than a few giggles. With witty quotes—such as “My idea of clean eating is having pizza while taking a bubble bath”—Amy gives readers a new lease on lettering, featuring brand new techniques, fonts and embellishments.

After the incredible success of her first book, Hand Lettering for Relaxation, which sold 31,179 copies (her second book Express Yourself is geared toward kids with a fall 2018 release), Amy is answering the demand of her audience for new flourishes and more of her popular humorous quotes she posts on her social media accounts. Readers can expect the same features that made Amy’s first book so special: her down-to-earth voice and clear instructions; high-quality, thick art paper ideal for brush pens and lettering tools; and blank border pages for final designs. This time, Amy adds a bonus project section giving readers simple DIY crafts for things like lettered pillows and wood signs to spread their lettering joy with others in unique ways.

This fresh, fun book with hilarious quotes will have readers hooked and thoroughly entertained.

I’m a wife, a mother, and an artist…which means I’m always busy and sometimes messy! I have a B.A. in English from McDaniel College, and in April of 2013, I published my first e-book, Crochet 101. Here at One Artsy Mama, I share a variety of project types including home decor, fashion, kids’ crafts, sewing, jewelry, crochet and more. My favorite topic, though, is hand lettering. On July 11, 2017, my book Hand Lettering for Relaxation was released and in the following year it went to print four more times. Since then, a Portugese version, Calagrafia para Relaxar has made waves in Brazil, and I’ve written a lettering book for kids that was released in October 2018. My next book, Hand Lettering for Laughter, will release in April of 2019.

In December 2015, one of my hand lettered gift tags was featured in a Christmas wrapping kit for sale in GAP stores across the United States. I am also honored to be the recipient of The Craftys’ 2015 “Best Craft Blogger” award, as well as being voted the top Crafty Blogger of 2015 in the SwayyEm community. In 2016, one of my coffee cup designs appeared in a nationwide Starbucks holiday commercial, and I signed on with Page Street Publishing Company. In 2017, though, I experienced the adventure of a lifetime as our family expanded through international adoption.

I am happiest when creating something and enjoy making all kinds of projects with my 10 year old “Little Crafter” and my 11 year old “Scout.” In my spare time {if there ever is any!}, I am a professional ballroom, latin, and swing dancer. When not on the dance floor or crafting, you can probably find me at Starbucks.

So much fun 😁

I had an absolute blast learning how to hand letter with this book! The instructions were incredibly easy to follow. The quotes are definitely hilarious. 🤭🤭 This book sparked my creativity in ways I didn’t expect.

And I am beginner with hand lettering, and I am already proud of what I have lettered so far. Was totally surprised to discover that I could even create my own fonts. My journal is going to look so cute now! 😍

This book delivers what it says in the title. PLUS lots of personal humorous anecdotes. The instructions are easy to follow, and she has even included some pages to practice in.
I checked this book out of the library, so no writing in the book! For me, it's a good reference book, but a great alternative is to use her blog amylattacreations.com

Recommended especially for beginners.

I received this book in a Goodreads drawing (thank you!). What a terrific tool for improving your lettering game! It’s simple to use and helps give a bit of an artistic flare to your lettering. If you or someone you know wants to produce prettier lettering, this book will help.
