Chromium, the last unmated dragon guard and former royal bodyguard of the Drakkaris court, has a secret. He’s been sneaking out at night to serve vigilante justice and taste new things in the human world. When he runs across a curvy restaurant owner with a sweet personality and a lasagna to die for, he knows he has found his mate. Now he just has to stay in her world long enough to protect her from those who want to hurt her.
Helen hasn’t had a lot of easy breaks in life, but she works hard to help anyone she can. When a mysterious, hot customer stops her restaurant from being robbed, she’s happy to offer him a place to stay, even if she doesn’t know anything about him. Well, except that he’s tall, with Caribbean blue eyes and a warrior’s bearing, and seems utterly intent on winning her heart.
As Chromium fights to keep his secret from his friends, he is realizing more and more that he can’t bear even a moment away from Helen’s side. All he wants to do is pleasure her, love her, and show her who she belongs to. But Helen has secrets as well, and a past that may just be coming back to hurt her, if Chromium doesn’t watch out.

3.5 Stars - This was Okay for me. I was glad Chromium discovers his mate. The plot was rather good, but as this series has progressed I believe the author has continued to back off of the fact that these are Dragons... powerful Dragons. Not once do any of the Dragons shift in this story, not cool when you are telling a dragon "shifter" story.
The secondary characters, in my view, did not have enough of an appearance. Cobalt and Arsenic had a little more. Lead, Zinc and Cadmium had way less, that was too bad. Also, Marina has been MIA in the last couple of stories. I think this might be due to the quick publishing of the story. It needed a little more.
Also, there is a new potential species that assists, but not enough information. It looks like he might be the start of a new series.
Reviewed at Shifter Haven Chromium Dragon brings the Dragon Guard of Drakkaris to a close – and what a satisfying finale it is. As the last unmated dragon, Chromium has taken to slipping out of the mansion late at night and roaming the streets helping where he can when a human is in danger or simply doing what he loves most – searching out the amazing human foods. To that end he’s been spending a lot of time at a little restaurant that serves a mind blowing lasagna that he cannot recreate. And perhaps the owner, Helen, has also drawn him in with her charm and curves. On this night Chromium and Helen’s worlds are about to change as danger approaches and one dragon warrior steps in to protect the woman he suspects is his mate.
Helen doesn’t trust easily, not after her nasty piece of trash ex-husband destroyed her self-esteem, her belief in herself. Chromium is changing that, slowly, steadily as this dragon warrior learns how to deal with his human mate who has no idea that dragons truly do exist. In the midst of danger, Chromium will forget to mention one important fact to Helen, one thing that may cost him his mate. He has to step back and trust that Helen really knows his heart, not an easy feat for a warrior without fear. No, he fears only one thing. Life without Helen at his side.
I loved the subtle twists in Chromium Dragon. Watching Helen begin to believe in herself, to see herself through Chromium’s eyes was a delight. Keep an eye out for Nathan. That’s all I’m going to say.
I’ve completely enjoyed my time with these brave dragon warriors as they battled, fought the internal fight against their metal’s poison, found their mates and eventually earned their happy ending. I’m going to miss them greatly. But… I’m also excited to discover what Ms. Bolryder brings us next. We get a tiny hint… and now I really want to know more, but I’m a patient reader (kinda). I would recommend Chromium Dragon and this entire series (along with the previous connecting series) to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader who enjoys good solid stories, likable characters, vile villains and interesting secondary characters. I love this world and I’d strongly suggest that you get acquainted with Terry Bolryder’s shifters… soon.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
The strong, silent Dragon Chromium is by far one of my favorite dragons of Drakkaris! The quiet cook of the group, the best royal guard find his mate, at a restaurant. He is initially reeled in by the Lasagna, because he can’t recreate the delicious concoction, but it helps that the restaurant owner is a beautiful woman that he can’t seem to take his mind off. When he intercepts some men planning to rob the pretty Helen, Chromium decides to stick around and protect her. Helen, has been burned by men before, specifically her ex-man, and she has a tough time believing the gorgeous man she finds one evening when he tells her how much he’s attracted to her. I loved Chromium, he’s so sweet and endearing, und not what one would expect from an alien dragon warrior. I didn’t know what to expect from him, since the reader only gets a small glimpse into what he’s like in Cobalt’s book. I don’t think he spoke more than a handful of words in the books before that, and here we finally get to see that he’s neither distant nor unintelligent. He is thoughtful more than anything else. Helen is really insecure, but a wonderful woman with close friends and if she lets him a man, who is falling for her. The story was well developed, and the characters were beautifully developed and now that the Dragons of Drakkaris have all found their mates, and the war with wolves seems to be over, I can’t wait to see what comes next. I received an ARC and am happily voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The sixth book in the series was as great as the rest. Chromium has started to feel lonely as his fellow Drakkaris Guard dragons have found their mates. He had taken to sneaking out late at night and doing a little street-justice to keep himself in fighting form. He also loves food and tries out different restaurants to see what recipes he can find to cook up for his fellow dragons and their mates. One particular restaurant has become a favorite. He can't figure out how to get his lasagna to taste like theirs. But the real draw is the woman that works up front, Helen. When he runs off some guys that were planning to cause trouble for Helen, he inadvertently draws her attention.
Helen has recently divorced her butt-hole of a husband and is happy to just work and sleep. Her ex was always putting her down and now her self-esteem is pretty low. She cannot believe it when a hot-looking muscular guy shows up in the alley near her restaurant and runs off some troublemakers. He is kinda dirty and scruffy looking and she offers him a place to stay and some clean clothes. She is surprised when he starts helping out in the kitchen and her workers seem to really like him. She finds that she really likes him too, but does not believe that a man that looks like him could be interested in her.
Find out how this love story turns out, and don't miss the other books in this series. I was given a copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Chromium has patiently taken care of his dragon brothers while they found their happiness. He is a warrior and a chef. That's right he's a natural cook but that doesn't satisfy his need to protect. He's become his own crime-fighting force. The fact that it coincides with watching out for Helen works for him. She's a special human. She owns a small restaurant he frequents. Hearing some hoods plan to hurt her he's all in.
I love that she wants to protect big dragon man and help him out. Little does she know who's really doing the helping. Helen is loved by everyone but herself. She'd been belittled enough that she believes it. How could a gorgeous man like Chromium want a plain-Jane like her?
He has his hands full protecting and building her up. What he really wants filling his hands is Helen. These are two worthy characters that deserve each other and happiness. Will they find their happy ending before her enemies end her future?
While I'm so happy to see him find his mate it seems this is the end of this series. Although there was an interesting teaser at the end. I know Ms. Bolyrder will soon have another compelling series to capture our imaginations.
Chromium, our mostly silent dragon, loves Earth, food, and one lady and restaurant in particular. She, his mate, is in danger, and you now a dragon will do all they have to to protect their mates. Will his mate still want him, and love him when she knows who and what he is?
Chromium Dragon is the sixth and final book in Terry Bolryder’s Dragon Guard of Drakkaris Series. I loved all the books in this series, and this sixth story was an excellent addition and a great finale.
Chromium is the last unmated dragon guard and former royal bodyguard of the Drakkaris court and he has a secret. He is in love with human food and has been sneaking out of the mansion to serve vigilante justice and to taste new things. However, things change when he is drawn to Helen, a beautiful and curvy restaurant owner with a sweet personality and a lasagna to die for. He soon discovers she is his mate and he will do anything to protect her from those who want to harm her.
Helen has had a hard life, she doesn’t trust easily but she works hard to help others when she can. When an intervention from a man prevents her restaurant from being robbed, she offers him a place to stay. Chromium and Helen’ attraction was instantaneous and intense. Their chemistry is amazing and I love how Chromium works to bolster Helen’s low self image throughout the story. But secrets from both their pasts eventually come out and they both have to decide are they worth it.. Will Helen and Chromium get a happy ending or will everything burn down around them? Read it to find out! Another great read from Terry Bolryder!
I can’t wait to read Terry Bolryder’s next book series. Will it have anything to do with the mysterious Nathan who was introduced in Chromium Dragon?
All the books in Terry Bolryder’s series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced readers copy.
Chromium has been sneaking out of the mansion in order to stop crime, explore the human world and eat out at different restaurants. While out he discovered a restaurant that makes delicious lasagna. One night, he feels like something bad is about to happen. So he hides in the alley behind his favorite restaurant. He ends up catching three men who want to rob the place. When he has two of the men, the back door opens and Helen the owner, comes out. She tells them to stop fighting and the robbers run away. Helen finds out about the robbery and invites Chromium in for a meal. She thinks that since he is all dirty that he is a hobo and offers him a place to stay. In the rest of the story there is excitement, funny moments, betrayal, friends and family love as well as sweet new love. Chromium proves that he is still the sweet guy that everybody has fallen in love with throughout this series. I love Terry's books and hope we have a new series coming. Maybe the strange guy in this story named Nathan will get his own book.
Finally our strong and mostly silent dragon finds his mate.
Chromium's story is a fitting end to the Dragon Guard series. Even though Chromium has been mostly silent but always supportive through the series, he becomes positively verbose in this story. Chromium's love of cooking and addiction to Earth food, serve him well in his pursuit of his mate. Helen has suffered through a bad marriage and lacks confidence in herself, but is generous, kind, and caring. The relationship between Chromium and Helen develops quickly with little turbulence but it is easy to see that these two were definitely fated. My favorite grumpy, green eyed dragon from the series, also appears to give his surly two cents worth of advice/commiseration. With a great epilogue that wraps the series and hints at the next series, I recommend this book, this series, and all of Terry's dragons!
I encourage everyone that enjoys quick, entertaining, shifter books to check out any of Terry Bolryder's books - they are always a great read.
Chromium is The Dragon Guard Protector of the royals of Drakkaris. Always on his own for theost part, he is also the last single dragon of the group. In the previous book we found out he'd been sneaking out of the mansion. Luckily he was in the right place and time to help his cousin with his mate. Now he's taken to protecting humans and checking out different eateries. It seemed the thing to do being as he had nothing to keep him busy doing the bodyguard thing. Chromium's story touched me as we discover he's not only floundering with no actual duties. He cooks for the mansion but for a Dragon with his skills it isn't enough. Then one night he stops a robbery outside of his favorite restaurant. He hears the would be robbers say there should be no injuries, they are to scare the owner. That's when things really take off. I was so glad to finally read Chromium's story. So much was made clear about the quiet dragon. It was a pleasure! Enjoy.
I love the Dragon Guard series! Chromium’s story is a bit different from the rest of his friends. He’s been sneaking out of the mansion unbeknownst to the others. While out adventuring, he finds a favorite restaurant. It has the best lasagna, and a beautiful owner, Helen. I adore Chromium! He’s been a very interesting character in the previous stories. He’s capable, thoughtful, highly protective-especially of those he loves (and he loves to cook). He has his work cut out for him with Helen; she’s got some insecurities. But he’s a persistent fellow. Helen is well liked by her regular customers and her employees. She’s stronger than she gives herself credit for, and is always ready to help someone down and out. Their story is a pleasure to read! There is an odd little mystery within that intrigues me.
This is a sweet and hot dragon shifter love story. Chromium dragon, the royal bodyguard, is sneaking alone into the human world and helping those in danger. He is quiet, good-hearted and stubborn. He finds his fated mate in a sweethearted divorced restaurant owner. They have chemistry and connection, but her past has given her a lot of insecurities. And he has secrets. Will that get in the way of them finding happiness together? We also learn why a mate is so important stopping the dragons' poisons. A mysterious man makes an appearance and helps them. Who is he? I hope that there will be more books to find out. I also am interested in reading about Fifi the wolf shifter who made an appearance in an earlier book. I love the book covers in this series. They show the different colors and dragons of the men.
It's a very nice, sexy, ordinary romance. If the hero wasn't Chromium Dragon of the Dragon Guard of Drakkaris, I'd say it was a good story about a plump divorcee who ran a restaurant and suffered from low self-esteem. But the hero, Chromium, doesn't get to be a dragon hero. Instead he's just a regular nice guy who knows what he wants and woos his woman to the best of his ability. Not his fault she's suspicious, untrusting of men, and entirely too self-deprecating, but he does what he can to prove himself true, and her worthy of love. Blame the author, whose insistence on ordinary magic and heroism and romance left no room for dragon fire, shifting into dragon-form, or heroic displays of unique alien dragon powers. Not even a puff of smoke... But still, a lovely little romance.
Chromium Dragon by Terry Bolryder, this is the last in the Dragons of Drakkaris and a 5 star read. I’ve really come to love all of these dragons and am sad to see the end of them but I know something just as exciting will be around the corner. Chromium is the last of the dragon guard to find his mate so he’s been sneaking out of the mansion and finding out about the human world. Helen runs a restaurant and sees Chromium and thinks that he’s down on his luck so she gives him a place to stay, before she knows it they’re involved, but she has a very low opinion of herself that was made worse by her ex husband who is now causing all sorts of problems. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Last one for this series! Can't wait to see what's next!
What can I say? Chromium is a hot, loving dragon who also cooks well! Helen is a good match for him. They both are kind and love food. I liked how Chromium wouldn't let Helen put herself down.
Character development is a big part of this. I think that was more important than the steamy scenes. You also have some action, some laughs a fast pace, magical tone, and a host of great supporting characters. Read the series in order. You can but don't have to read Double Dragons and Tiger Protectors. If they don't interest you start with the Awakened Dragons series, then Rent-a-Dragon, then Date-a-Dragon, then Awakened Sea Dragons before this series! Enjoy! I can't wait to see what Terry has planned next!
I really loved this book. Chromium was the last dragon to get mated, and I am so glad he did because he seemed so lonely. He is really possessive which was adorable and he was so determined to make Helen see her worth. Helen was a great character as well. She has a lot of the same insecurities that I think a lot of women have. I was hoping Chromium would get to find out the secret ingredient to the lasagne, it was so funny how he talked about it. I am extremely curious to see where this goes next and if there will be more dragons. I am also hoping to unravel the mystery of Nathan at some point, that was a small cliffhanger for me.
Helen runs her own restaurant with a few close friends, after getting rid of her Ex husband because he was a user and waste of space. She was a more of a curve person and her ex liked to torment her about it to control her. Chromium like sneaking out to help people who needed it. While doing that her found a small restaurant that he loved to eat at. though that wasn't the only thing he liked there, the owner had curves that he wished to get his hands on. This is a great book to finish the series with, sweet Chromium and his love for eating and cooking. loved that its a very different setting to the others in this series though there is still trouble on the horizon to add to the romance.
Oh how I'm loving these Dragons, all the Dragons of Terry Bolryder. Chromium is the last in this series. Now who's am I going to read and fall in love with. I'm sure that Ms Bolryder will be coming out with more soon. I can hardly wait. I guess in the meantime I'll go back and read a few of her other books that I have in my library. Seriously though this is one of the better writers I've come across that makes you feel right there. If you want to try a new genre be sure to read on of her shifter books. You'll be hooked and will be waiting impatiently for the next book.
This is the 6th and last book of the Dragon Guard of Drakkaris series and I am so sad to see them go. I felt in love with the Dragon warrior's while each of them found their fated mate. I have been looking forward to read about the silent dragon, the cook of the group. He is strong, loyal and...bored!!! So he sneaks out the mansion at night for some vigilante action. In one of those nights he meets Helen, his fated mate, when he goes to her restaurant and try their famous lasagne. And that is the beginning of a rollercoaster ride of emotions with a nice HEA. Highly recommended
I was very disappointed in this book. I enjoyed several of the books in this series but this one simply didn’t do it for me. I was very sad that Chromium didn’t get a better book, but it is what it is. This book felt rushed, in many ways and that bothered me a lot. I don’t know if her publisher was rushing her, or if she just was ready to move on to another book but it was just not the right thing to do with this character, he deserved better. I was also very frustrated because not once was there a “Shift” with these dragon shifters! I will continue to read this author because I think that she’s an incredible author and has typically always given amazing reads to her readers.
Loved this. Terry Bolryder never fails to please, not read any of his books that I havn't loved. The 6 dragons that are the Guard came to Earth to help the Oracle track down kidnapped Dragon Heart women, to help control the unruly shifters, and in the hope of finding their mate. These are metal dragons, they are named for the metal in them, this metal as they age, if unmated, slowly taints their blood, poisoning them. When they find their mate it pushes the poison back. Really good series, each Dragon and book are different, loved them all, keep it up Terry Sue P
This is the last book of the Dragon Guard of Drakkaris series and this is Chromium's . The silent, lethal warrior with great cooking skills is the only one left without a mate and he's being a vigilante of the human world at night time. He was able to identify his mate in the city and he needs to protect her who is a curvy restaurant owner. I like how the heroine has a sensitive heart because of what have happened to her in the past and the extra work that Chromium needs to do in order to convince her that she's enough and beautiful. I enjoyed this series so much!
Helen and Chromium...This series is made up of the kind of shifter books I love to read. Protective, strong, faithful, kind alpha Dragon shifters searching for the perfect mate. Throw in some action, lots of romance, a little mystery and good storylines and I'm hooked. I'm sorry that this was the last Drakkaris Dragon story, but I'm sure hoping Terry has more books in store for us. Now I'm wondering about Nathan and don't you think the Oracle needs a romance, too? Anyway, I highly recommend this book and series. Happy reading.
Chromium maybe the last metal Dragon to find his mate but the book is no less spell binding. Chromium saw all his friends find a mate and saw how protective they were. He didn't quite get it in until Helen. Helen is a good hearted person with a lot of self doubt. Read this book to see if they can work it out. There's love and adventure in this book. If your like me you will fall in love with the characters and not want the book to end.
I received an advanced copy of this book in return for my honest review.
I enjoyed this novel, but I would have enjoyed it more if Helen hadn't been so insecure. Too much of the story was C trying to build her up. I understand the idea of selling self-confidence to her readers...but after a bit it got too repetitive. There was enough mystery in the background to carry the book. In fact, some of the mystery went unresolved which points to a future novel...I think. Good job finishing one story but leaving the door ajar (possibly) to another.
We come to the end of another awesome dragon series by Ms. Bolryder. In this book the final dragon from Drakkaris finds his perfect mate. With Chromium's love of cooking it's only fitting that his mate is in the restaurant business. I really loved the interaction between Chromium and Helen. While I hate to see this series end, I can't help wondering what's next.
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
I've read almost all of her books. She's one of my favorite shifter authors. This series has been just as good as the others. I was wondering what Chromium's story would be like since he hardly talked in any of the other books. I was not disappointed. Helen is the only mate that isn't a dragon heart, but she is such a neat character. I hope to see a story about Nate in the future!
What a clever idea to gave a dragon warrior from another planet, searching for his mate, a path through his love of food! Terry Bolryder shares a quick love story that engages the reader.
Chromium seeks out his mate and then provides her with confidence in herself, while supporting her dreams. She always comes first for this alpha warrior.
Although this book can be read as a stand alone, I enjoyed it, in what seems to be the last in this particular series.
Chromium and Helen's story was written exceptionally well. It has fantastic and memorable characters a little sexual content and plenty of action. I've read this whole series and I really don't want to see it end. Before this series, I wasn't big on dragons, but the author has brought new life to them so now I enjoy them, but I still don't want these dragons to go.
Chromium is a fierce Dragon guard who has taken to slipping out of the castle to fight crime. While doing so he serves justice to a group of thugs out to target restaurant owner Helen. Not only does he fall for the food he falls for the owner who is his mate. While Chromium works to keep his secret he shows Helen that she deserves love and is beautiful on the inside and outside. Glad to see Chromium come out of his shell and find his mate.
