I love that the child turns the tables, and makes a 'peek' a place from which to scare Mom. I love that this just happens to be a Black family, and that the child could be either girl or boy. It's creative in that it takes place entirely in the bathroom, which means that the simple bright art of people, cat, towel, pajamas..., looks great against the B&W tiles. I think this is a book some little ones will latch on to and want to read over and over.

Nice short boldly illustrated book that may well be good for potty training. I can think of a few children who were afraid of the potty -scared they'd fall in! Well, this book might make training a little simpler for some. Pleasant story.

The young child of this title tells us the difference between holes and peeks with a dislike for holes, but very accepting of peeks. Very creative illustrations showing everyday holes a young child may fear.

A little boy does not like holes, like the drain in the bathtub and the seat of the toilet. But he likes peeks. He can play with peeks, like peeking through a crease in the towel and scare his mother with a peek. The holes, he learns, can be made smaller. The hole in the toilet seat can be covered with a child's potty seat and the drain the bathtub can be plugged.
