Kathryn “Kappy” King’s skill at making kapps for the Amish women of Blue Sky, Pennsylvania, is unparalleled. But she’s also dangerously good at discovering dark truths beneath this peaceful valley . . .
When an “accident” puts beloved bishop's wife Alma Miller in a coma, many in Blue Sky are quick to blame struggling widow Frannie Lehman. Both women are the best bakers around, but for years Alma’s boysenberry pies have been more award-winning—and profitable—than Frannie’s. And with Alma out of this fall’s county festival, Frannie’s pie finally wins first prize. But when Alma dies and Frannie’s children fall victim to gossip and bullying, Kappy is determined to uncover the real truth.
Soon Kappy and her outcast friend Edie have their hands full of odd clues. What do Alma’s strange last words mean? Why would someone break into her house just to steal a quilt? Who is the mysterious new piemaker in town—and why is she still in Blue Sky after losing the festival competition? When long-buried family secrets and contested legacies start getting into the mix, Kappy and Edie must work fast before another victim gets a deadly pie in the face . . .
I'm a wife, mother, and bona fide Southern belle. Published author, expert corn bread maker, and Squirrel Princess.
I live in Tulsa, though I was born in Mississippi. I moved to the Sooner State when I was seventeen and met my soul mate and best friend not long after. I've retained a little of my Mississippi accent though most people think I'm from Texas. (?) Rob and I have been married for over twenty years and have a son--a mom proclaimed prodigy, of course!
I love homemade tacos, nail polish, and romance novels--not necessarily in that order. I'm a big fan of country music, a staunch proponent of saving the Oxford comma, and I'm shamefully obsessed with all things Harry Potter.
I believe that God is love. I guess that's why I adore romances.
I have always been intrigued with the Amish culture, their gentle ways and slower-paced lifestyle. (And I love, love, love the fact that they stay married for their lifetime.) But until recently I never thought to blend this interest with my penchant for romance. Okay, okay, I'm a bit old-fashioned and even enjoy the gender roles that are present in this culture. I love to cook and take care of my family. Yes, that's me June Cleaver with a laptop.
I dislike people trying to convince me to read the Twlight series (I'll get to it or I won't, either way I'm good with it), gratuitous violence, and strawberry ice cream. (I know I'm alone on this last one, and again, I'm good with it.)
Favorite movies--(besides HP) French Kiss, Maid of Honor, A Lot Like Love, Just Married, and Sweet Home Alabama. Oh, and Miss Congeniality, Sabrina (both versions) and a 1940's movie called Dear Ruth. If you haven't seen it, you should! A-dorable. Anything with Doris Day and most all of Marilyn's and Audrey's.
Kathyrn (Kappy) King and Edie Peachey are an unlikely pair of friends that have fun adventures solving mysteries in Blue Sky, Pennsylvania. Kappy makes prayer kapps for the Amish women in the community. Edie had moved away from the area to try out life in the English world but had to return to take care of her adult brother with down syndrone when their mother was killed. Edie has wild colored hair and clothes while Kappy is a traditional Amish who lives on the fringes of the community. When Alma Miller, wife of Bishop Sam Miller, is found in her kitchen with a blow to the head, Detective Jack Jones approaches Kappy to decipher a message that Alma wrote in flour on the floor. This opened the door for Kappy and Edie to find out who attacked the local pie contest winner and beloved woman. It later became a search for a murderer when Alma dies. Jack arrests a local bakery owner, who was a rival of Alma's in the pie contest. But would Frannie attack and kill over a pie recipe? If not Frannie, who would? Murder is serious business but when the two friends get together, it is always fun to see them interact on the pages of the books in the series. Jimmy adds a fun note with his quirky ways and ideas about food, especially any meat. He loves all animals and has lots of different ones. He shows his pet bunny, Judith, in the festival where the pie contest is held. Jimmy has his heart set on getting a pig next. For this reason, he refuses to eat meat. This is a great series with likable, fun characters and interesting plots with mysteries to solve and a hint of romance. Jack and Edie are somewhat attracted to each other. An old beau of Kappy's would like to rekindle their relationship but Kappy is convinced that he is still in love with his dead wife. I am looking forward to seeing what might be going on in the next book. (I hope that there will be another book.) I received a complimentary ARC from Zebra through NetGalley. All opinions stated are mine only.
This is the third book in this series of unconventional detectives, one Amish and the other was Amish but jumped the fence. Of course, as in the other stories there is another murder, and they can’t seem to control themselves! Now if you haven’t read the other two, there is information about the other stories so you won’t be lost, but one you have read this one, you will be wanting to read the other two. There are other old friends here too, and it is always hard to say goodbye, but I am hoping there will be more in this series. We also get to learn a bit more about the Amish here and their different buggies, an area of Pennsylvania that has three different top ones. You will love the sweet interaction of Edie and her brother Jimmy, and she seems to take care of him with a heart of gold, don’t be surprised if there are pigs in the next book!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review.
This is my first book by Amy Lillard and I have to say that I love it. This cozy little Amish mystery was entertaining and the characters were very well done.
While this is the third book of the series, I didn't feel like I miss out on much and was able to get my bearings with the setting and characters fairly quickly. The story definitely had enough to stand on its on.
If you love Amish fiction and Cozy Mysteries, than this should be on your TBR pile. I highly recommend it.
Amy Lillard you done it again AWESOME AWESOME book i love it. My best characters are Jimmy and Kappy and Edie and Jack i don't want to spoiled it by saying something that will spoiled it. I recommend this book to everyone thanks again i got this book for a review
I WANT pies!!! 🥧 Though I'm not sure where to get boysenberries here in AU. I just wish there's some pie recipe at the end of the book! I'll have to make do with apple pie, I think.
The third book in this series where an odd single Amish woman, Kathryn (aka Kappy) King, with her unlikely friend, an ex-Amish loud dresser, Edie Peachy, putting their noses in where they don't belong. Kappy's Bishop's wife, Alma Miller, is in hospital due to being attacked at home just before the annual pie contest is to be held. Alma Miller holds the championship 7 years and ,while it seems unlikely, a winning pie recipe can get one killed.
As per usual, Edie continually jumps onto the bandwagon that runs away to who knows where. Kappy, on the other hand, tried to hang back but unsuccessfully due to both her curiosity and Edie's pull. This time, the day is saved by Edie's brother, Jimmy! Loved this bit of the novel though I have to confess that I'm struggling to reconcile Jimmy's character as a 21-yo man with down syndrome. I keep thinking he's just like anyone else until reminded by his food preference (white/beige colour only), his meltdowns, and his emergency button necklace. Maybe it's a very slight one? I'm not sure because I don't really know, intimately, anyone with down syndrome.
Kappy King and the Pie Kaper is a light, humorous, and fun cozy mystery read. Do not expect any surprising twist but do expect some slight frustrations at these ladies but at the end, it's rather funny ;p
I was hooked from the beginning with beloved characters Kappy, Edie, Jimmy and energetic Elmer in the latest cozy mystery by Amy Lillard. Edie had heard the news before Kappy about Alma Miller; however, Kappy saw the pictures from detective Jack. Even with the warning not to get involved with what happened to Alma, they couldn’t stand back and watch another tragedy in Blue Sky Valley when the pie baking contest festival was approaching. The new judge brought some concerned to these women and Frannie Lehman, the local baker who wanted to beat Alma Miller in the pie contest. There are new rules for the pie baking contest, adventures for the residents, snooping into family secrets along with Kappy, Edie and even Jimmy wandering the countryside to try to find answers. Will they discover the true suspect before the pie contest? How will Jimmy play a role in solving this mystery?
Kappy King and the Pie Kaper is the third book in Amy Lillard’s An Amish Mystery series but it can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend reading each book and fall in love with the characters and the laughter along with tears they’ll provide. I would love to see Lillard pen more of these picturesque and captivating tales.
I received a complimentary ARC book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review but have expressed my sincere thoughts.
If you are looking for fun, laugh-out-loud stories with a bit of a cozy mystery feel, then I definitely recommend this Amish Mystery series. Kappy King and the Pie Kaper is my favorite of the three books that I have read in this series.
Kappy and her friend, Edie, are back to their crime solving ways, complete with the humorous banter that flows so effortlessly between them. I love that Edie’s brother, Jimmy, is a big part in this story. He is a fun character!
The focus in these stories is on friendship and mystery solving. Hints of a possible romantic interest between Edie and Jack are there, but are subtle and lighthearted.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching as Kappy and Edie solved this mystery as only they could!
(4.5 stars)
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Author Amy Lillard wrote another amazing book, Kappy King and the Pie Kaper. I enjoyed reading this book with its characters and mystery. It kept my interest and I would encourage others to read this fantastic book. Kappy King and the Pie Kaper is Book Three in An Amish Mystery series by Author Amy Lillard.
I received a copy from the author, but was not required to review it. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.
Kappy and Edie are at it again solving yet another mystery. This book had a bit more mystery to it and Kappy seems more secure in her friendship with Edie. Also nice reading the growth in Jimmy and Edie slowly letting him grow up.
What do you have with a word-a-month calendar, a beagle, and an Amish prayer ‘kapp’ maker? Another fun adventure with Kathryn ‘Kappy’ King, her shunned sidekick, Edie Peachey along with Edie’s brother, Jimmy. This time they are trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together after the “accidental” death of boysenberry pie extraordinaire, Alma Miller. The Amish Mystery series set in Blue Sky, Pennsylvania, is entertaining, and you’ll want to be a part of the journey with Kappy and Edie. So, jump in, hang on and see if you can guess who did it! I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions are my own.
I'm so excited to be back with Kappy and Edie. They are a perfect match for each other as friends. Ok one is English and the other is Amish, but together they make for lots of excitement in their small community.
The big talk around town is about the festival coming up. It is sure to draw a big crowd and lots of things to buy and eat. Someone is taking the pie contest a little too serious when a member of the community is attacked in her home. This woman is know for her delicious pies and now that she is out of the running it may be a slam dunk for someone to win .
I loved the antics Kappy and Edie get into while investigating the crime. They try so hard to act innocent while questioning people, but they don't have everyone fooled. The big question is why and who changed the rules of the pie contest? A pie is just a pie until it becomes the prize is what I say. There is also a celebrity who has come to judge the pie contest this year. That sure gets the attention of Kappy and Edie. Who is trying to sabotage the contest and will do anything to win? It's another home run for the author with this series.
I love visiting this special town and I absolutely adore Jimmy. He is a wonderful character and adds a sparkle to the story. His love for animals is wonderful and he takes great care of them. Jimmy is becoming more independent , but his helicopter sister can't quite let go yet. There is also perhaps a romance starting up between two characters which I am excited about. I'm not going to mention names, but it is fun to read the silly things they do to get each others attention. Don't miss this fun story filled with laughs, mystery and always exceptional writing by the author.
I received a copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion.
4.5 Stars: This third story in the Amish Mystery series finds Alma Miller, the bishop's wife in Blue Sky, in a coma. It appears she fell from a ladder while picking crabapples. It doesn't take Kappy long to determine that it was not an accident. She finds out from the investigating detective that she was actually killed in her kitchen and the scene outside was staged. He tasks Kappy to try and figure out what the message she left in the spilled flour in her kitchen really means.
Once again, Kappy and Edie team up to figure out who was responsible for Alma's death. Does it have to do with her prize winning boysenberry pie? Working with Detective Jack Jones, the ladies are able to figure out the clues to help solve the case. I loved the descriptions of Edie in this story. She was a bit wild, with pink hair, piercings and goth like clothes, but it appears that she is trying to fit in a bit and has removed her piercings and started wearing soccer mom clothes. She is also developing feelings toward Jack and it seems like he might be feeling the same way. Once again, there were several suspects but none that really seemed to have a strong enough motive. It is not until Edie and Kappy are able to figure out what the message meant that the culprit is revealed. The final showdown was tense with some danger, but all worked out in the end. Another entertaining story with an audio performance that made this an enjoyable few hours. I sure hope there will be another Mystery starring Kappy and Edie down the road. This was the best one yet.
The third installment in what I like to call the adventures of Kappy and Edie (and Jimmy) is just as much of a fun read as the first two. This time Kappy and Edie are on the case when the Bishop's wife is attacked in her home. A message written in the flour provides the only clue for our dynamic duo. But they are (unofficially) on the case so the residents of Blue Sky, Pennsylvania can rest easy.
This book was such an entertaining and fun read. I adore the two main characters, three if you count Jimmy, and enjoy their banter back and forth. Banter made even more entertaining by the use of words from a word of the day calendar. (This book's not only a fun read but an educational one!) Add in Jimmy's quirks and the flirtation between Edie and Detective Jack Jones and I'm not sure how the author keeps the characters under control. But she does and it all comes together for a quick read.
From adorable front cover to the very last word this book will keep your interest. And with those three little dots that end the story, I'm hoping there are more crimes for Kappy and Edie to solve (and me to read about!) Don't worry if you haven't read the other two books in the series. This book can be read as a standalone. A definite must-read for cozy mystery fans!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was not requird to write a review. All opinions are mine.
What a treat, to get lost in the Amish world of Kappy, Edie, Jimmy and the rest of the small town of Blue Sky, PA. This is the third book in this series and it's just as enjoyable as the previous mysteries. It can easily be read as a stand alone but I'm sure, if this is the first you have read, you will want to find the other two. Kappy is a kap maker, a young single woman in a tight knit Amish community. Her best friend is Edie, a young Amish woman who was shunned by her family but has returned so that she can be near her brother, Jimmy, who has Down's syndrome. They make a great team. This time their investigations revolve around the pie baking contest during the county festival. Two women are in competition against each other, one is Alma, the Bishop's wife and the other is Frannie. When Alma is assaulted and dies, leaving Frannie the winner, Kappy and Edie cannot take the advice from the police to stay out of it. While the mystery is solid and very satisfying, the draw for me has to be the characters. It's like going on vacation to visit friends in a community that has a slow pace, away from the blare of the media and technology. Along the way, the reader learns so much about the Amish way of life. When I finish one, I find myself eager for another visit. My thanks to the publisher Kensington and to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
“Kathryn “Kappy” King’s skill at making kapps for the Amish women of Blue Sky, Pennsylvania, is unparalleled. But she’s also dangerously good at discovering dark truths beneath this peaceful valley.” Kappy King and the Pie Kaper by Amy Lillard is the third installment in the Kappy King series. Lillard has developed a phenomenal Amish cozy mystery series which easily crosses multiple genres.
Kappy King books are like catching up with an old friend. I am always a little sad when I finish one, as I feel like I am saying goodbye to friends.
Kappy and Edie are at it again. The oddball duo is trying to solve the attack on Alma, the bishops wife and award-winning pie maker. I just adore the combination of a single Amish woman, a shunned Amish woman and Jimmy, Edie’s special needs brother. As well as trying to solve the mystery, Kappy works on her vocabulary and Edie tries to let her brother Jimmy spread his wings a bit.
I highly recommend this series of books! Amy Lillard has written the books so each may be read independently of each other while still be part of a series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. The views given are my own. #KappyKingandThePieKapper #NetGalley #KensingtonBooks
Someone attacked Alma Miller, the Bishop’s wife and reigning pie queen, and stole her recipe box right before the annual festival. Alma had won the pie contest every year for several years. Would someone really harm her in order to win? Once again, Edie makes it her business to find out and drags Kappy along for the ride. Amy Lillard gives us another mystery that has us chuckling at the antics of these two women.
Frannie Lehman, who had been trying to beat Alma for years, was number one on the suspect list as far as Detective Jack Jones was concerned. Especially after she won the contest. Kappy just couldn’t believe Frannie could do such a thing and she and Edie set out to prove it.
Edie and Kappy always took Edie’s down syndrome brother Jimmy with them (unless he had to work) because Edie doesn’t think he can take care of himself. Jimmy is grown but not in Edie’s eyes. He shows her just how capable he is when they are trapped in a basement bakery with the killer.
Did Frannie Lehman kill the Bishop’s wife for her recipe? Her pie tasted exactly like Alma’s and she did finally win the contest. What did Jimmy do to get them out of the basement alive? Read this well-written story to find the answers to the mystery.
I loved this series and highly recommend it! Thank you, Amy Lillard, for allowing me to read them.
Sorry this review is so late! I really enjoyed this book! Amy is such a good writer and her style is awesome! She really knows how to add humor in her books and she brings her characters to life! the plot of this book is just wonderful and the characters oh my especially the bishop's wife! She didn't deserve what happened to her! Why would someone do that? Kappy, Edie and and Jimmy are immediately on the ball as to the who dun it. I love a book that keeps me guessing and Amy has certainly done an excellent job of that! Amy will grab your attention from the beginning until the end. She's just that good! These three friends will make you laugh at some of their antics and they can also make you cry as well. I loved that Amy gave Kappy a dog. It's more interesting when dogs are involved in the story and beagles just happen to be one of my favorite dog breeds. I guess it was because of Who the Bishop Saw by Vannetta Chapman. Henry the Bishop had a beagle. He was soooo cute!! It seems that wherever these three friends are mysteries are bound to happen!! For that, I"ll be forever grateful! It means that I will have more to look forward to from this author!! My thanks to Netgalley for this review copy. NO compensations were received and all opinions are my own
Love me some Happy and Edie! Amish life is a simple life, they aren’t violent and they live peacefully. But when the local Pie queen, and wife of Kappy’s Bishop is attacked and put into a coma, the message she left behind is to cryptic for the English police to figure out. But Kappy and Edie know the message means something and they’re going to figure it out, before an innocent woman is accused of murder.
Each book in the series is like a visit with old friends. Kappy is the level headed Amish woman who just happens to have an English friend that cares for her Amish special needs brother and those three are always up to something. Add the dark detective and Jack brings in a wholesome love interest while Kappy waits for one of two men in her Amish community to figure out what they want in life.
This a great series and I truly enjoy the time spent reading these books. The author truly brings her characters to life and I adore that she has brought a truly to life version of a young man with Downs Syndrome to the story. Thank you for another wonderful visit to Blue Sky, Pennsylvania.
If you love cozy mysteries, you’ll enjoy these mysteries that revolve around Kappy King. This is the third book in the series, but it’s easy to quickly catch up with the characters and their stories. Kappy is such a fun character to follow, and she’s not your typical “Amish” character. She loves reading mysteries (especially Sherlock Holmes); learning a new word everyday from her “Word of the Day” calendar; and solving real life mysteries as they come her way. In this book, Kappy works together with her friends Edie and Jimmy to solve the murder of the Bishop’s wife. The mystery in this story was interesting and the answer was not obvious until the last chapter. Kappy and Edie usually don’t follow the methods of real detectives, but they always seem to be in the right (or sometimes wrong) place at the right time.
This is a clean and sweet story with no foul language. It’s the perfect book for when you want something a little lighter to read. Once you read this book, you’ll want to go back and read the other books in the series to catch up on Kappy’s adventures.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
It's time for the county's fall festival and annual pie contest. For more years than not Alma, the bishop's wife has made the award-winning boysenberry pie. Unfortunately, Alma finds herself on the wrong end of a cast iron skillet. Can Kappy and friends find out who would want to keep the bishop's wife from participating in the pie cook-off this year?
I love this Amish cozy mystery series. The titles make me smile, the cover art is fun and the stories have hilarity to them even if they do involve murder. Kappy is a hoot. She tries so hard to follow the Ordung but her curiosity get her in scrapes every single time.
This is number three in the Amish Mystery series but each can be read as a stand-alone novel. As with any series, if you start with a book other than the first you will know the outcome of previous books. I would feel very comfortable giving this book, the entire series, to a teenager as a gift. There are no steamy romantic scenes, no offensive language and the murders that take place are nowhere near gory.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Kensington through NetGalley. Any and all opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.
Kappy King and her friend Edie are back to solve another mystery in Blue Sky and Edie's brother Jimmy, and the policeman, Jack are front and center as well. As the attraction between Jack and Edie heats up so does the pies being baked.
Kappy is still making prayer caps for the Amish in her area and Edie has settled back in Blue Sky although she's still being shunned for leaving for the Englisch world and not returning to the church. Jimmy is as adorable as ever and still loves his animals even more so than expected.
The story flows nicely and I love the words that Kappy throws in to the conversations from her word a day calendar. There are twists and turns to the story as the mystery of who attacked the Bishop's wife in her own home is getting solved with Edie and Kappy's help, of course! There are a multitude of characters and they add layers to the story. There is nice closure with the mystery solved but also some loose ends to take us to the next story in this Amish Mystery series.
Ms. Lillard is one of my favorite authors, especially those with Amish characters. I look forward to reading more of her books not just those in this series.
Kappy King and the Pie Kaper is the third fantastic book written by Amy Lillard in her Amish Mystery series. Amy has once again written another fantastic story involving a suspicious death. This storyline will definetly keep the readers interest throughout the entire story.
I have become quite attached to the characters in this series. They are very likeable and really do an amazing job telling this story. Kappyvis a quirky Amish lady, Edie is an x Amish young lady who has come back to the area to raise her younger brother, Jimmy, but not back to the Amish. Together these three form a misfits family that you can't help but love. They are on another quest to solve a mystery and this one is to delicious to pass up.
I was not given an advanced copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.
Congratulations to Amy Lillard for writing another fantastic story for her readers to enjoy and I look forward to more amazing stories from this author in the future.
#3 in the Amish mystery series. I admit to not having read the first two, but based on this book I plan to continue the series.
In this one, someone has based in the head of the Bishop's wife, Alma. Everyone is hoping that she recovers in time for the Fall Festival. Alma's boysenberry pie has won the pie competition for several years in a row. Who could have done this to the soft spoken, friendly Alma? Was it for her pie recipe? Some, including the police, think yes, and this leads to all sorts of suspicions. Kappy and Edie vow to investigate. They've done it successfully in the past....
I liked the writing style, and I really liked the character Jimmy and his growth in the book. Not a lot of direct violence (implied) in the book, which suited the characters.
I did figure out who bashed and murdered Alma, although I was a bit off on relationships. But the whole thing made sense.
I didn't feel confused with jumping in at book 3 - it came together quickly for me. But I do plan to go back and catch up with the first two and others to follow. This series is a keeper - easy to read and entertaining.
Once again Amy Lillard has delivered another AWESOME book in her Amish Mystery series. In book number three, we are once again taken back to Blue Sky Pennsylvania, where we find Kappy King, Edie Peachey, and of course, Jimmy playing sleuths to try to solve the "accidental" murder of the bishop's wife. Who in Blue Sky would commit murder in order to get their hands on an award winning recipe for boysenberry pie? Follow our friends, they try to solve another murder in the quiet Amish community of Blue Sky. You won't want to miss the adventures of Kappy, Edie, and Jimmy as they try to find out who would commit such a crime, especially over a pie recipe. You will love this book, as much as Amy Lillard's two previous Amish Mysteries, Kappy King and the Puppy Kaper and Kappy King and the Pickle Kaper. So settle yourself down to find out who would murder for a pie recipe. I was given a copy of this book by it's author and this is my true honest opinion of the book. YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS READING THIS BOOK
Kappy is back! And so are Edie and Jimmy and Elmer. Oh, and Jack. This is a delightful light cozy series set in Amish country where you only THINK nothing bad ever happens but it surely does. In this outing (don't worry if you haven't read the preceding books!), Kappy and Edie investigate who bashed Alma, the bishop's wife and wonderful baker over the head. She didn't have any enemies, only a terrific recipe for boysenberry pie, and she left a message in the flour around her. These are wonderful characters- Jimmy is a new vegetarian, having learned where meat comes from, Jack the detective brings a great cake for dinner (hmmmm), and the various supporting cast are all people you can see in your minds eye. The mystery itself is a little twisty- I'll admit I sort of guessed where the issue lay but not the why, not the why at all. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This was a great read and I'm eagerly awaiting the next one!
Kappy King and the Pie Kaper is book three in An Amish Mystery Series by Amy Lillard. I truly love this series with the full of life characters and the mishaps that seem to happen in their small little town. Kappy, Edie, and Jimmy are a great group of somewhat misfit friends who love to stick their nose into the mysteries that just seem to keep happening. When Alma, the Bishop’s wife, is attacked in her home, Kappy and Edie are quickly on the case of trying to find out who did it and why. This story did not disappoint with well-developed characters and a terrific story line that keep the reader guessing right up until the end. I was grabbed at the start and did not want to put it down until the end. I cannot wait to see what Amy has in store for this trio next. I was given a complimentary copy of this book from netgalley.com and the publisher, but was not obligated to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Kappy King and the Pie Kaper is my favorite book in Amy Lillard's Amish Mystery series! Kappy King and Edie Peachey are at it again! Alma Miller is in a medically induced coma because of an incident that occurred at her home. Kappy and Edie are on the case to see who could have caused injury to sweet Alma. Everyone is surprised when Alma dies, which also makes Kappy and Edie search frantically for the murderer. There are shocking surprises around every corner in this suspenseful read! Journey along to beautiful Blue Sky, Pennsylvania and fall in love with these characters. This book you will definitely want to read! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from the author and have given my honest opinion.
The plots have been great in the Kappy King Series! Each one has a unique twist and there is enough fun, romance, and murder mystery to keep you turning the pages.
This has been such a great series and I've become to love all the characters. I'm always rooting for Jimmy as he tries to expand his horizons. With Kappy intervening here and there, I have hope that more might be possible for him.
I also love reading about friends Eddie and Kappy and the situations they get into. Always there is a touch of romance in each book and it leaves you hoping for them both.
A great read!
I received a copy of this book from the author but I was not required to leave a positive review.
Edie and Kappy are quite the crime solver. They don’t quit until they figure it out. Jack who is the police detective ask for a little help from Kappy but gets a lot of help.
Edie brother jimmy lives with her. He brought so much to the story even though he wasn’t involved much in the crime solving. He loves animals, he kept wanting to get a pig.
I loved that Kappy had a dog, loved the interaction between them. Dogs add so much to the story.
I received an advanced copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write an positive review. This is my own opinion.
This is the 3rd book in this series that I have read. I definitely enjoyed them all. This was a light, happy and "cozy" mystery and kept my attention. Loved the interaction between Edie, the shunned Amish and Kappy, the Amish young woman. As the mystery enfolds, there are lots of odd clues to work with and to figure out.
It's a fun "who dun it" type book and a captivating one.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts are my own..
