What a great book for children! Hermes truly captured multiple (if not all) facets of Indian children. He discussed where and how they live, what they wear, festivals, what they do, and what they eat. I think this would help any child understand not everyone lives the way s/he does. Additionally, the story accurately depicts the vast diversity India has to offer. I have yet to see a story capture this important aspect of Indian culture as well as Hermes has in The Children of India. A sure-fire win.
