Fuller Family in Brush Creek #3

A Treasure for the Trooper

Rate this book
The "wild child" of the Fuller family, a state trooper with a daughter, and his year-long crush that could build a family if he could just get out of the friends category...

Dawn Fuller has made some mistakes in her life, and she's not proud of the way McDermott Boyd found her off the road one day last year. She'd driven an hour to have a medical test done so her family wouldn't know, and while McDermott has asked Dawn out several times since then, her shame and embarrassment haven't allowed her to say yes.

She's spent a hard year wrestling with her choices and trying to fix them, glad for McDermott's acceptance and friendship. He lost his wife years ago, done his best with his daughter, and now he's ready to move on. He's dated other women, but he keeps gravitating back to Dawn as if she's the sun and his whole world revolves around her. He asks her out one more time, surprised when she finally accepts.

Can McDermott help Dawn find a way past her former mistakes and down a path that leads to love, family, and happiness?

I love Liz Isaacson, her novels are truly wonderful! It is hard to find an author who can distinguish between a Christian Romance Novel and a Contemporary Romance Novel, but Ms. Isaacson does it and she does it well! I highly recommend every novel that I have read, and I hope that every novel I plan to read in the future is of the same quality!

"A Treasure for the Trooper" is a wonderful story of a young man and his long-lost crush! This wonderful series has had everyone on pins and needles, just waiting for new characters to arise and fill in more of this story behind this quaint little town. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story of a young woman with an unpleasant past, and how God brought her to a place of redemption and true happiness.

I recommend this twelve novel series, each one is better than the last. Very well written, it's like a story coming off the pages before your very eyes.

Dawn, the wild child of the Fuller family, crashes her car after a pregnancy scare, which leads her back into the life of McDermott, a widowed father of a little girl, and best friend of her brother.
This is another sweet romance, with nothing more steamy than a few kisses, even though Dawn is said to have been "wild". McDermott is a lovely character who is devoted to both his nana and his daughter, but is determined enough to chase after Dawn for a year. A scene at a strawberry field brought back childhood memories of pick your own fields in the Gower.
Dawn's emotional issues do not have as obvious causes as other female characters in previous books, but are no less viable. Hers are the fears of most women regarding parenting. A short sweet read.
I voluntarily agreed to read an advanced copy of this book.

This a sweet Christian book. Dawn a Fuller was always called the wild child of their large family. Dawn was afraid she was pregnant and went to another town for the test. On her way home, she tried to miss a deer in the road and flew off into a ditch. McDermott Boyd is a Highway Patrolman on duty and helped her out of the car. McDermott is a widower with a six year old daughter and lives with his grandmother. He is Dawn’s oldest brother’s best friend. McDermott is attracted to Dawn, and Dawn is attracted to him. She is wary about him because she doesn’t want to be a mother.

Dawn turned to her pastor to help her through the mistakes she made so she could be a better person. McDermott always turns to God asking for help. I enjoyed the book and encourage you to read it. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

Liz Isaacson’s books are a sweet and make you happy read and A Treasure for the Trooper is no exception. Liz has a way of mixing characters you can relate to to pulling for them to succeed.
The ‘wild child’ of the family Dawn Fuller lives up to her name, but in a scare makes her start to change, also a good looking state trooper by the name of McDermott Boyd. Dawn is scared that she will never be seen as anything but a tag-along of her older brother’s withe McDermott, but McDermott is trying really hard to change that...if only Dawn would let him. Will patience, confidence and love be enough?

TREASURE. FOR. A. TROOPER.by Liz Isaacson Brush Creek Brides # 9
Dawn living alone, twenty six, and known to be wild . McDermott, was a trooper and seen her swerve to miss the deer, he was older, and couldn’t believe how much she had turned into a beauty. Wasn’t much to date in this small town, after his wife’s death, would Dawn even consider it. She turned him down for a year, and with the pastors help to reinvent herself. Finally a date, and he didn’t judge her, could she hope. A delightful book of hope, for love, family, and to share life with.

Romance, clean; mild Christian faith elements
This was a lovely, fun novella. More of a 3.5 for me as a reader. Dawn and McDermott's story came together sweetly as Dawn struggles with her past and with trying to allow herself a future with a ready made family. McDermott feels his way around Dawn, but is attracted (as is she) to her and willing to wait, try and figure out how to give her the assurance she needs to be willing to take a risk on a ready made family.
Always fun chemistry, and always family, and some faith elements. Lovely, sweet read and redemption at it's finest.

This story was so sweet. I loved McDermott right off the bat. A man in uniform and a single father? Be still my swooning heart. The patience he shows when trying to work through Dawn’s defences and earn her trust and love was awe-inspiring. Dawn’s opinions of herself nearly broke my heart. It was so sad to see how hard she was on herself. I loved watching her grow beyond those beliefs to have confidence that she could do and be whatever she chose.

This book grabbed my attention from the first page. I liked the main characters: Dawn, the redeemed wild child and McDermott, the police officer. I enjoyed reading as Dawn’s character developed throughout the story. The pacing of the story is just right. I never felt like it was dragging. I loved the small-town setting. I would recommend this well-written story to sweet and/or Christian romance readers.
I received an ARC from the author. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.

Good read

So this is Dawn and McDermott’s story! I absolutely loved McDermott. He was the the perfect combination of gentleman, state trooper, dad, and friend. I was unsure about Dawn in the beginning. I understand she had trouble finding her way in life, but I just didn’t ever feel settled in her wanting to be a mom, wife, and having a family. since McDermott was a father, I felt very unsure about their relationship. Despite my hesitations, it was a good read.

Dawn Fuller lacks any self-esteem and spends her days lost in thought about what she ca do to change her path in life. On her way back from Vernal she crashes her car into a ditch, knocking herself unconscious. State trooper Mcdermott Boyd responds to the crash, takes Dawn home with him, and develops a crush on Dawn. This novel covers the ups and downs of their relationship in true Isaacson fashion. It's a great read.

This was a clean inspirational book about overcoming the past and becoming stronger and learning who you are. I loved the consistency and commitment McDermott had towards Dawn and not giving up when she wasn't sure about things. She was worried about her past and I love that he wanted today's Dawn and didn't care about Dawn and her past choices. Once Dawn would let it the sparks flew between Dawn and McDermott. They had quite the connection.

I loved the story of McDermott and Dawn. Indecision is a part of real-life. When you are labeled the "wild child" of the family and have serious doubts about your future, deciding whether you are ready to be a 'mom' and wife can be quite frightening.
Looking forward to the next book in this series...A Date With the Detective.

"A Treasure for the Trooper" by Liz Isaacson
What a pleasure to read this sweet clean contemporary romance. This is a quick fun read, with lots of stalls and stutters twixt the "wild child" and the "trooper" leaving you to wonder ...... will they ever find their HEA ? If you like sweet clean romance... I think you will like this story, too !

The moral of this story is we’re all broken, imperfect people. Sometimes it’s because of poor choices, while other times, it’s due to tragic circumstances beyond our control. Both Dawn and McDermott need a fresh start in their lives. This touching book emphasizes that everyone struggles and life is better together than alone.

Dawn lived up to her nickname of the wild child but is more than ready to put that behind her. She is afraid others well good her mistakes against her. McDermott is smitten by Dawn upon rescuing her, but she continues to turn him down. This is Dawn's story of finally growing up and accepting herself for not being perfect.

This story links two people that are very different. Dawn, the wild child of her family, has a serious wake up call. McDermott, a state trooper, is the opposite. The attraction between these two grows, but hard issues make this an unlikely relationship. I hope you decide to read this book. It is very good! And you get to see how it ends.

Never a mistake . . .

To follow your heart and God's leading! Dawn and McDermott are so sweet together. His patience and desire to be with Dawn were quite endearing, not to mention the way he takes care of Taya and Nana Reba. For both of them, this story is all about second chances, just different from each other. A good read. Now for the next one.

A very good, clean Christian romance about second chances and over-coming old baggage.
Dawn was the "wild child" growing up, but McDermett has had a crush on her for years though
Dawn keeps rebuffing him. He is a widower with a six year old daughter, and Dawn keeps believing she is not ready to be a mother, if ever, because she feels inadequate and unworthy of love.

The "wild child" finds happiness with the trooper!

I love this series and this book especially. Dawn the wild child of the family never wanted a family. McDermott and his daughter are a package deal. An accident brought them together, but it took McDermott patience and persistence to win her heart.

I like the Fuller family. They are a lot of fun and crazy, just like mine. Dawn is the wild child with a past, but can she get over it and find love and acceptance with McDermott? They are sweet together. I also loved the underlying theme of needing to forgive ourselves.

This story is a wonderful reminder of God's redeeming grace and once we give our hearts to Him our past transgressions get wiped away. Things won't be easy but God answers prayer as McDermott prays that Dawn's heart will heal and have room for him and his daughter.

The third book in Ms. Isaacson's Brush Creek series.

These's characters had a lot to unpack, especially Dawn.

The story is well set up with conflict and well rounded characters. And yes, dogs.

I especially loved Nana's character.

Another solid read in the series.
