Hilarious kitten antics bring playground behaviour to life in this funny tale about finding your own way.
Bella loves Anna. In fact, Bella loves Anna SO MUCH that she wants to be just like her, and copies every single thing she does.
Anna would rather she didn't. And Bella and Anna get into a bit of a tangle . . . Between Bella's wobbly efforts with a hula-hoop, her disastrous ballerina twirls and her catastrophic fancy dress attempts, Bella never quite gets the hang of things. And then Anna suddenly snaps – she's had enough of Bella being SUCH a copycat!
With funny and vibrant scenes and hilarious antics from an adorable troupe of colourful kittens, little cataholics are sure to lap up this light-hearted picture book about first friendships, with a gentle message about identity and joining in.

Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery, or just annoying copy-catism?

Some feline friends struggle with that dilemma in this cute story with boffo illustrations by the author.

The illustrations and colors in this book will just blow you away even before you start reading it. The story is your typical "she's copying me" story with a little twist near the end. Perfect for those sisters or friends that just can't seem to get along all the time.

Absolutely charming story and illustrations which show the drawbacks and benefits of being a copycat. Can't wait for my grandchildren to read it!

Lovely illustrations and feminine coded animals being princesses and pirates in their play. Being copied is a thing little kids care about. The children at story time were pretty onboard?

Copy Cat tells the story of two cats, Bella and Anna. Anna is good at a lot of things and Bella wants to be just like her! But every time Bella tries to do the same things, she can't do them as well as Anna can. Eventually, Anna gets angry that Bella keeps copying her and yells at her to stop being a copy cat. Anna leaves and Bella now has no one to play with her. Bella then finds a jump rope, which Anna has never played with, and starts practicing. She gets to be so good at jump rope and one day a another cat named Chloe sees hope good Bella is a jump roping. She wants to jump rope also, so Bella lets her copy her. Meanwhile, Anna is sad that she is now alone and wishes she had someone to play with her. When she went to find Bella she forgot about how mad she was and wanted to jump rope also. Bella says that if she want's to be good she just needs to copy her and Chloe. Then they all jump rope together and Anna no longer gets upset when Bella copies her.

This was one of my favorite books out of all the ones I've read recently. First, the illustrations and cover are so fun and vibrant. The story is also important and fun to read. Although anyone could read this book, it does seem to be geared more towards young girls. I liked how it addresses issues that young girls often deal with among friends and peers; it's relatable and relevant.

I would definitely use this book in my classroom. It's fun, interesting, and engaging! This would be a good book to read at the beginning of the school year to address the importance of being kind, including others, and being a good example to those who are watching what you do. I would talk to my students about how others watch your actions and are listening to what you say, so it's important to act respectfully and kind to everyone.

Bella likes to be just like Anna, but sometimes Anna doesn't like to be copied. When there is only one crown and two princesses, Anna storms away with the crown. Bella is left to decide what she would like to do now. She starts to jump rope and learns to be good at it. Soon she makes a new friend, Chloe, who wants to copy Bella at jumping rope. Bella teaches her how and they have fun. Soon Anna returns and wants to jump rope too. They all have fun together--and then they see Dot!

This is a good solid story about friendship and what it is like when one child constantly copies another. The story avoids judging the actions of any of the children and just states them as fact. This could open a dialogue between an adult and child about how they may or may not feel and what they might choose to do in similar circumstances. It also sets an example of one possible approach and an alternative to becoming upset. The illustrations are bright and use contrasting colors excellently to show kitty emotions and carry the story. The story is stronger than the illustration. This is a good book for siblings and for a classroom where such disputes are likely to occur.

Bella wanted to be like Anna and do everything that she did. When Anna played pretend, Bella wanted to play pretend too. One day Anna got tired of Bella copying everything that she did. Anna told Bella to stop being a copycat. This made Bella really upset. Then, Bella decided to learn to jump rope. She practiced until she learned how to jump fast. Then, Chloe came and wanted to copy Bella and learn how to jump rope. Bella told Chloe to copy her and she taught her how to jump rope. They were having fun playing together, and Anna was not having fun playing alone. Anna went to find Bella, and Bella told Anna to copy her and learn how to jump rope. Then they all jumped together and played together. The story ends by introducing a new character that they want to copy who is named Dotty.

I liked this book. It was a short easy read. The pictures were cute.

This book could be used to encourage friendship. It is okay to copy sometimes if you are learning or playing together. It also encourages students to share.

Bella and Anna are best friends and Bella wants to be just like Anna. So Bella does everything Anna does, exactly how she does it. Eventually, Anna has enough and doesn't want Bella to copy her all the time!!! Then Bella meets Chloe and Chloe wants to do everything just like Bella! Anna soon gets jealous and has to decide if she too wants to be a copy cat.

I absolutely adored this sweet book on friendship! Everyone at one point in their life either has a copycat or has a copycat phase, so this book is a great way to explain to children what a copy cat is and why that can be a bad and good thing! Using the cat theme, really is why I liked this book so much and it made me happy to know that there are books like this in the world!

In a classroom setting, this book could be used to teach lessons about friendship and the pluses and minuses of copying because after all, no one likes a copy cat!

This book is really cute. I picked it up because I love cats so the colorful cats on the cover caught my eye. As I started reading it I liked it even more because one of the cat's names is Anna and that's my name! I don't see my name that often as a character in a book so it was pretty exciting. I liked how the book had a lesson in it about being fair and playing with everyone and that it doesn't matter if the person (or cat) wants to do what you do. They want to copy you because they like what you're doing and that's a very common among the younger kids so I feel like kids can relate to this book.

SPOILER AHEAD:
It was also really sweet how the cat that got rejected ended up including everyone. I loved that.

The book made me smile a lot. And the illustrations are so flippin great! I love the bright colors and the way the cats are drawn. So pretty and so adorable!

Miss 3 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

I think this will really resonate not only with kids that have siblings but kids attending kindy etc. I liked the messaging in the book which showed the friends how they could learn to play together not only in doing the same activity but also in it being okay to spend time together but want to do different things.

With a house full of kids close in age, "they're copying me!" is a daily complaint. This book helps kids try to understand that sharing can be better than playing alone, and that often times copying is done out of admiration.

The 4yr old little girl was especially fond of this book & requested it multiple times a day for over 2 weeks. Perhaps the cute cat pictures had something to do with that :)

Copycat is a delightful children’s book about feline friendship penned and illustrated by Ali Pye. Young readers witness how these two friends learn to share their toys which each other. I like Ms. Pye’s unique method of using context clues with digital illustrations. Her use of vibrant colors coupled with the use of geometric shapes in her drawings appeal to the young reader as they aid in comprehension.

Bella so loves Anna that she wants to be just like her, copying her every move. When Anna gets frustrated with her, Bella breaks out on her own, only to have her own copycat, Chloe. All the cats soon learn it’s better to have company. Cute drawings and a wonderful story about sharing friendships will have young readers thinking about being themselves and having fun.

Two friends do everything together except Bella is an annoying copy cat and it makes Anna really mad! All is forgiven as another playmate is added to the group. Copy Cat by Ali Pye is a wonderful friendship book to read to children 3-7.

This was a good one. Bella wants to do everything Anna does, but eventually Anna gets tired of this. A great book about how sometimes it's okay to do the same things as your friends, but it's also important to think independently too. I really enjoyed the illustrative style and the colors.

If only we could all learn to be a little less huffy-puffy every day... :) And it's good to copy and it's good to find your own thing to do. Balance, y'know?
