Fight to Be Free

Rate this book
How far would you go to be free?

Nick's group barely survived the last attack. Now they're holed up in the empty ski lodge to regroup, out of reach of the Denver gang. When three desperate strangers show up, Nick faces a tough decision. The wrong choice could risk their lives.

Who would you trust?

On the road to their new home, Daniel's mother Anne falls mysteriously ill. Fearing exposure to the deadly virus, the two must quarantine themselves in an empty town. Before long, they realize things in the desert aren't what they appear.

Getting home will be the hardest part.

Food is running out. Winter is approaching. There's only one way out of the mountains, but it won't be easy. As Nick's group ventures closer to gang territory to get home, Mia gets closer to important answers about the virus. But will the truth about Hosta really matter if they don't survive long enough to get home?

Fight to Be Free is Book 3 in a post-apocalyptic thriller series about people pushing past their limits as they try to survive the end of the world.

Wow! What these characters go through in the short time period this series covers is pretty crazy. They just can’t catch a break. I loved these flawed characters. I loved that nick was a prepper who wasn’t fully prepared. I think their actions were often what anyone would do to stay together as a group and stay alive. There were a few things that seemed a bit like they were being stupid but we can all be stupid at times every single day.
When the 3 show up and only take one set of keys I thought they were the dumbest kids ever.
Narration was excellent.

Fight to be free

Wonderful series and well written. If it’s the end I’m sorry to see it end. The characters are quite believable

"Things go wrong when you least expect them."
With Nick's small group, including heavily pregnant Bethany, holed up in the empty Colorado ski resort, still desperate to get to the White Pine Falls, they are terrified of another attack from the murderous BSC. Meanwhile Daniel was alone with his mother, Anne, who had fallen sick. Was it just flu' or the deadly Hosta virus?
An exciting continuation of the survivors' journey through hostile country in the hope of finding somewhere to start afresh. Will any of them get to the settlement at White Pine Falls? Quick and easy to read, with plenty of action.

Nick and his group are trying to out run the BSC and get to safety where Daniel and his family and friends have headed to after the fire. Unfortunately Daniel isn't there or on his way there either as his Mum has gotten ill and they don't know if its just a normal sickness or not. Things are all go right from the beginning of this nook with plenty of highs and lows for both parties ad we also get to know more about the BSC as well which was quiet good. Will Nick and the other get away from the BSC and will Daniel and his Mum also survive to get to salvation in order to start again, there are plenty of road blocks in their way that had me guessing what would happen next.

This has been a decent series overall (I assume this is the last book). This final book was just more of the same of book 2, though. Running from the gang, trying to get "home" and there was not much change in any of the characters, though an exciting battle toward the end. I kept hoping they would come across the thieves again and get their stuff back. Nope! I do have a tough time believing that a pre-teen, genius or not, would be able to decipher and understand the notes of a professional immunologist as well as re-create a test for the virus.

A Great Ending to an Action Filled Journey

Book three ties up all the loose ends. The round about journey to New Mexico continues and comes to a happy end. The group struggles but by the end of the book have personal growth and awareness. The gang is dealt with a final fight to the end. The beauty of Colorado is described well but rightfully is not the main point of the story. Survival brings everyone together leaving the group and the reader with hope for the future.

Another Great Book

This is #3 in a great series!! I especially liked where each character faced their own demons, their own humanity. Many books/authors in this genre gloss over the killing factor but not this author, he took the time to show the reality of how a human being is affected by killing even if it is in self defense, thank you for being one of the few to work it into the story line. Don't miss out, read this series from the beginning!!

I keep flip flopping between 2 stars and 3 so really 2.5 would be my review. Nick is a bit to sexist for my liking. The mistakes that keep happening and everyone in the group is so forgiving about them and basically forgets the lessons learned from them. The part I really can’t get over is the fact that apparently everyone in the BSC has Stormtrooper syndrome. The fight at the cabin with Bobby is completely unbelievable.

Loved it! Every time I turned a page, there was more action. I could not put it down. Everyone managed to survive ... mostly intact. And they even added one to their group. Now, the question is, will everything remain calm at White Pine Falls, or is there another gang out there that will terrorize them?

Virus

When I read these stories about a deadly virus I do the math. Thousands of babies and children would have also been immune and then died from starvation. Of the 6 percent who lived how many would be alive after a year? Maybe 3 %? It would be fascinating to read a follow up 10 years later.

Great trio of novels

Both previous novels in the series made for gripping reading. A group of individuals bound together to survive a deadly virus, gangs of evil persons and natural calamities. There are good people and hopefully they can work together and survive all obstacles they face as those in this novel. Highly recommended

I listened to this whole series on my iPod over the course of several months. I love reading post-apocolyptic books. This one was great because it took normal people and told how they survived in the world they found themselves in. I found myself wandering what would happen next and if they would all survive. Excellent series.

Very good read

All three books. The stories melded into each other. Will be more now that Nick and extended family are with the kiwa tribe? I just thought it was one of the best I have read.

Just as good as Books 1 & 2

A lot of dystopian books go off the deep end by book 3 — situations and characters get less and less believable... This series held it together pretty well. The whole BSC angle came close to getting crazy but the author held it together.

This is the third book in the After the Outbreak series. If I could give a -10 stars I would. This entire series is horrible, so bad that it's not worth my time to document how bad.

Avoid at all costs.

If you liked the last book, you'll like this one. A little bit faster paced - a little more action - and a little more thrill. This series just continues to get better and better.

The books were very entertaining. No one died and everyone lived happily ever after. That sounds corny but the way this World is today, I think I would take the people in the book.

Nearing the end of this story I became worried there would be no way the author to wrap up he story. However Dave did a bang up job of proving me wrong!

Once again, Dave Bowman does a wonderful job of capturing our imagination with his third book in The Outbreak series. Fight to Be Free picks up where book two left off and keeps us wanting more.
