Follow the holes to read the story in this interactive adventure!
Each book in this series follows a vehicle on its journey across five beautifully illustrated spreads, with holes in the pages playing an integral part in driving the narrative. Little ones will love finding the holes with their fingers, peeking through, and turning the page to see what the holes become. With gentle rhyming text encouraging children to answer questions, these journeys through the ocean and into space will be requested time and time again.
Esther Aarts is a Dutch illustrator whose work has appeared in international newspapers and magazines and on greeting cards and T-shirts. In her spare time, she loves trampolining, cycling, and being outdoors. She lives in Nijmegen, supposedly the oldest city in the Netherlands.
A boy and his dog take a rocket ship to space where they meet a new friend to play a game with in this colorful board book meant for the youngest lap readers. Each page features a rhyming text that encourages children to look for the object(s) mentioned in the illustrations. Die cut holes allow for more visual and tactile exploration by babies and toddlers. Overall, this is a charming offering from Nosy Crow that will delight young children.
I would recommend this book for inclusion in any public library for their board book collection. This book was provided by the publisher for professional review by SWON Libraries.

BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
A boy and his dog are on a rocketship to Mars. What will they encounter along the way?
The bright illustrations make this fun to look at. I’d love to see if the illustrator has art available to purchase. The text, however, is not a draw. I can’t see anyone reading out loud over and over again.
