This book has a good amount of information and, despite what another review said, does actually have photos of the herbs it talks about on the side. While it was interesting, it just didn't include as much detail and information that I was looking for as a research. Some recommendations for the herbal remedies for common ailments aren't actually recommended according to other sources, so 3/5 stars.

Excellent and accessible guide for the beginner. I really like how the book starts from the absolute basics, e.g., definitions for everything, common plants, where to source them, etc. Reading this definitely primed me for more advanced guides.

This is a really great primer on herbs.

I love the way it’s presented.
A. How to make concoctions
B. 35 types of common herbs and what they do
C. Ailments that you might have and which herbs work best

Definitely a keeper for my shelf to reference often.

Comprehensive and Informative

This is a good introductory book to botanical remedies.
I also have Green’s Medicinal handbook, a couple different materia medicas, and other herbal books. With all things, verify. If 3-10 books agree on an herb, its usage, dosage, best practices, then yay and proceed! If you can’t find 3 books to agree, best not to use that particular herb.
Try each herb, one at a time. Use a single herb within a 24 hour period, especially if you’ve never used botanicals before. If there is no reaction, then take that herb in whichever form is recommended. Wait 24 hours. If no reaction, keep it in your resources list.

First aid is huge on my mind right now, so I would recommend starting with making salves and infused oils, as they can be time intensive. Same with tinctures.
Apple cider vinegar and/or glycerin tinctures, teas, and syrups for children 2+.

Again, this is a good, comprehensive and informative book, a good companion for an herbal class such as found on Udemy, the Centre for Excellence, and Coursera.

Read this book - it’s available with Kindle Unlimited. Then buy this book, because you’ll want to refer back to it. Learn. Play around with the remedies. Find what works best for you and your family. Have fun. Explore the world of herbalism.

Welcome.

For everyone wanting to start with herbalism; either for yourself, your family or trying to discover if herbalism is something they want to work with professionally, this book is great. It's written in easy to understand language and not too overwhelming since they start with only 35 easy ro work with herbs. Great book, I would definitly recommend it!

Well, it was pretty good! I admit I only started this because I like the narrator Tiffany Morgan and I found this book in her portfolio. I don't intend to create tinctures, prepare them or otherwise manually craft "potions" from these herbs, but I encountered some of them already in supplement or store-bought powder form. Now I know better what they are for.

I have this belief that nature can create way more interesting molecules than people do in the labs, but there is hardly any financial incentive to study them at the same level as drug companies do with their compounds. Hence doctors might shun these poor herbs on the grounds of "not scientifically proven efficacy." Of course because no evidence means no one is doing testing because the herbs don't pay them. :D So I respect herbs a lot and I'd "use" them any day over a synthetic drug, unless my life depended on it.

Perhaps the audiobook format is not the best for this type of recipe/cookbook, but I'll keep an ebook copy as a reference. What I liked is that the book covers several approaches. One aspect is going from herb to herb, another is going from problem to problem, and telling you what is good for this and that. But, this also brings some repetition that I ultimately didn't mind. The book has an effect where, the next time you encounter any of these herbs, you'll remember learning about them in this book!

As a true beginner with Herbal Remedies this book piqued my interest. Not only does it offer a thorough index of medicinal herbs and their uses the author also provides numerous recipes with instructions on how to use the herbs. This would be a great reference book for anyone dabbling in herbal medicine.

Good beginner info

I really liked the fact that the book opens with the four humours, dry, wet, hot, and cold. Understanding that makes a huge difference when looking for herbal remedies. I also liked that it gave a guide to some good beginner herbs. If you’re just starting out, this is a good intro to herbalism.

Very thorough! I wanted something that I could easily flip through to find info on specific herbs, and this is just that. I also plan to use it to plan my herb garden for next year. I think that this is going to be a well loved book in my home. I already can’t wait to try making some of the tincture recipes!

Very disappointed with this book. There are no pictures of the plants/herbs being used so you can identify them. This book was a waste of money. So sorry I chose it -- my mistake.
