" If you know an aspirational teen who's destined for the big leagues, or if you just want to make sure you're doing everything right in today's weird economy, Girl Mogul is the perfect book to help. " ― Bustle
Welcome to Girl Mogul ! No matter who you are or where you come from, this book can help you define success, envision it, and make it happen―in school, in your personal life, and at work. Get ready to awaken all the awesomeness that is already inside of you.
You are fierce. You are bold. You are unique. You are driven. You are inspiring. YOU ARE A GIRL MOGUL
Tiffany Pham, founder and CEO of Mogul, created one of the most successful platforms for girls worldwide, reaching millions of people to enact true change in their lives, after receiving thousands of emails asking for advice. In Girl Mogul , she speaks directly to teens and young adults, sharing insights from her own life as well from the lives of the most incredible and inspiring women on Mogul. Tiffany has proven that with the right attitude, the right people, and the right vision, there’s nothing girls can’t do.
Even though this book was written for teenagers, I think the principles apply to women of all ages. Pham is definitely very encouraging, but it kind of feels like she's basically saying you just have to work the hardest all the time, go above and beyond everyone else all the time, and just generally do more all the time. I guess that's what makes her the same age as me & a super successful businesswoman. I need someone to write the book "Girl Mogul for People Who Don't Like Talking to People."
I finished this a couple of days ago, an had to sit on it to figure out what was bothering me about the book. It has the potential to be great- lessons from some prominent women in the arts, business, media- and in some ways it's a nice read for tween/early teen girls. But it also felt like it ignored real challenges that lower income girls may experience in the quest to be authentic, build a network, identify mentors. Then I flipped back through the pictures and was able to process how few Black, Middle Eastern, and Latin women were visible in the book. Again, the advice is a good start for young girls, but it misses an opportunity for them to be able to relate to the information in the book.
Pre-read this book before giving it to my 13 year old cousin. Tiffany's story is interspersed with practical tips and motivating words from celebrities and executives willing to share. A good gift for a young woman in your life... but I would pair it with something else. Make it a bundle!
I wanted to read something light and inspiring to keep me focused on my personal and business goals, so “Girl Mogul” by Founder and Mogul CEO, Tiffany Pham was a key choice. Even though the target audience Tiffany meant to address to was high school and first-year college girls, my attention was still captivated. Tiffany openly shares her trials and tribulations, offering insight to how and why she is who she is. Her experiences as a high-achieving student engaged in various extracurriculars mirrored my experiences as a valediction 10 years ago. It was easy to relate to Tiffany and continue to foresee my future with lens of success just like her. Along with her experiences, each chapter contains a column filled with tips, advice, recommendations, and drafts for networking. At first, I wasn’t aware of the company, Mogul, before. Now that I know the inner workings of why Tiffany created this space for women, it’s encouraging for me to keep at it with my own dreams. I recommend this book to anyone who has a daughter, a sister, or a student entering high school who needs a little guidance and inspiration to become her best self. 💖
This book definitely tailors to high school girls but I think the author could have reached a lot more women by not making the book for high school age girls. She has a lot of great advice that would be great for any woman trying to do more or grow but it does not translate because of targeting high age girls. Overall if you know someone going into to high school or even freshman year of college this is a great book to help encourage them and give them advice on how to grow as a professional.
Highly recommended for the ambitious young lady in your life who has big dreams and is about to head off to college/the "real world." This would make a great graduation present. Even if she doesn't want to be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, and just wants to go out there and make the world a little brighter in her own way, there's something in this book for her.
I almost gave the review 4 stars because there were many times I realized the target audience was possibly teenagers/young adults. However, I became so much more motivated at work from what I read here and had a much more positive outlook on myself and what I do. This is definitely a book I’ll purchase myself because it’s a great reminder on the kind of woman I am, could, and should be.
I won this in a goodreads giveaway. I think it has great advice for girls and young women. One of the better self-help books out there, aimed at the younger generation—they need this.
Tiffany Pham is the founder of a website dedicated to connecting and empowering women worldwide to be successful in their endeavors. In this self-help book, she gives teens practical strategies to becoming more successful, whether that be in academics, arts, or anything else. This was completely empowering, and Pham never seems to be talking down to teens; rather, she easily meets them where they are and encourages them to dream bigger. Her own stories of successes and struggles (many of which are from her teen years) help her connect to her audience, though there were certainly times where I felt like she must have been the most perfect teen to have lived, as far as planning, scheduling, and dedication goes. Overall, though, I highly recommend this to teens (and adults, as I also learned a lot!).
