Even the smallest person can change the course of history, even the unlikeliest character might become a hero, and every adventure begins by stepping out the door. The Adventurer's Companion is the latest supplement for The One Ring Roleplaying Game, containing invaluable advice and ideas for every player, from how to create a compelling character concept to how to form a fellowship and more besides. The Adventurer's Companion includes a host of new rules too, from new combat options and a new calling, the Captain, to rules for generational play and expanded rules for holdings. It also contains new heroic cultures, including the Men of Gondor, Bree-folk and the Elves of Lorien. The supplement is rounded off with a selection of handy reference tables for players to use during character creation and play, as well as a compilation of Fellowship Undertakings from existing supplements in one handy to reference place.
The use and quality of this book depends entirely upon how in-depth a group wants to invest in The One Ring line of books. If you’re just using the main book and maybe an adventure, this is easily a 5 Star Book. However, if your group is using all the books, it falls to 3/5 because it repeats a ton of info.
A lot of material repeated from supplements, but this volume gathers all of the rules relevant to players (and not found in the core book), including character creation info, new rules (some optional), further explanations of the Journey, Adventuring, and Fellowship phases, and combat. Solid addition to the line. Cf. to a Player's Handbook in other product series.
Well thought-out expansion to the One Ring system - indeed, the best ideas from here ended up folded into the core in 2nd edition. Full review: https://refereeingandreflection.wordp...
