Trickster, My Beloved: Poems for Laufey's Son

Loki is both loved and hated by various followers of the Northern Traditions. Despite his unpopularity with some heathens, the number of his worshipers grows every year. This collection of twenty-seven poems, written by a dedicated Loki’s-woman, portrays some common and uncommon aspects of his character, his relationships to other deities, and how a relationship with this most misunderstood Norse god may be as deeply fulfilling and meaningful as it may sometimes be nerve-wracking.

"From wherever we are, near and far,
at the edge and on the boundary,
between now and forever,
we ask you to come to us,
God of many names and many faces" ~~

I'm having strong feelings about this because it's the first pagan devotional text I've ever read in earnest. In theory I'm all about neopaganism--returning to pre-Christian beliefs, finding cultural and personal meaning there--but in practice it's always felt a bit too corny to me. Then I started having feelings about the god of stories and free will and change and mischief who is a protector of this world in their own way and shit got real.

I really liked most of these poems. They made me want to write some of my own.

Beautiful, vivid, passionate poetry for Loki and members of His family.
Would that we were all capable of perceiving our gods with such clarity and intensity!
