I think it's really weird that this issue of all places is where we get to hear about Raddus' fate. With just one line, his story ends. There's still some goofy action, and I'm hoping that Larocca is dialing back some of the things I've disliked about his recent artwork.
While definitely a set up issue, I enjoyed it a lot. It was great to get back to Mon Calamari after the excellent Season 4 story arc on The Clone Wars. On that note, I am looking forward to the reapperance of King Lee Char. Seeing good old Admiral Ackbar was great as well, considering that he was barely a cameo presence in the Sequel Trilogy.
Moreover, I like that it seems this story arc will have a lot more overlap with other canon comic titles. Further back in the chronology, we are also getting a Mon Calamari based storyline so while not an actual crossover, one story enhances the background of the other due that from what I have seen so far, the story arcs share at least 2 characters even if there is a time gap of 20 years between the stories. I am looking forward to reading both of these volumes back to back.
Very strong start for a new story arc within this 75-issue Star Wars comic book series marathon. Which I am super thankful for, because the one to the left of this was probably my least liked one of the bunch.
Just so everyone is tracking... what is going on within this very long series, is every 5 or so episodes, generally what happens is the artist and lead content creator/director swaps out and the main focus on the story shifts. A new world is generally introduced, a new problem/dilemma, a new villain, maybe throw in a couple of side-kick level good guys that will come and go while the main characters carry on. I personally overall like this, as instead of just issues 1-75 being one long continuous story (imagine that challenge) ... you get a lot of variety. Some of it beyond amazing, others you just can't wait to finish so someone else can step up to the plate and actually provide worthwhile content.
This new arc about Mon Cala that kicks off with this issue has definitely grabbed my interest!
A strong starting issue to a promising new arc with real stakes. The characters are on point. Seems more continual than episodic than it had been. Loses the 5th star to having a lot to set up as the first issue in the arc, but otherwise a stellar issue. Hopes: The reappearance of King Lee-Char from The Clone Wars
This was an excellent start to a new story arc. Was cool to see Mon Cali, admiral Ackbar’s home world. Enjoyed watching Leia work her political skills to generate support for the Alliance.
Really cool issue. There were some great moments, like Leia refusing to lose hope and Han's look at her after talking about wanting something you can't have. Loved it all.
- Hooray! Admiral Ackbar is in this issue. I wish he had larger roles in the comics and books. I want to get to know him better. Maybe this is my chance!
- Ha! I love when Han "handles" situations.
- I'm glad they kept the same artist from the last storyline. They should just keep him around permanently.
- This was a really fun issue. I love seeing Leia be all diplomatic and Han being Han.
