From Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures, Illumination presents Dr. Seuss' The Grinch is based on the Dr. Seuss classic about a grumpy Grinch who tries to steal Christmas! Boys and girls ages 3 to 7 will love to learn all about what makes the Grinch so grinchy during Christmas in this full-color storybook that features a glitter cover, Christmas cards, and stickers!
Dennis R. Shealy is the author of many children’s books, including the popular Little Golden Books I’m a Truck, I’m a T. Rex!, My Little Golden Book About Dinosaurs, My LIttle Golden Book About the Solar System, I’m a Bulldozer, and The Noisy Garage. He lives in New York City with his wife and son.
I'm really not sure what the point of this book is, other than to make more money as a movie tie-in. While the illustrations (taken directly from the new movie, I'm assuming) are lovely, there's no story here. It's just 16 pages of the Grinch introducing himself and telling the reader all the things about Christmas he doesn't like.
I'd stick with the original rhyming picture book to introduce kids to this character.
Kind of disappointed with this one. I have not seen the new Grinch movie, but obviously know the Grinch story.
This is basically a list of all the things the Grinch doesn't like about Christmas. Dr. Seuss said it better in the original in my opinion (plus this one doesn't even rhyme). Some of the lines are clever or funny, like not wanted to eat candy out of a stinky sock (stocking). It's cute, but not all the interesting.
Very disappointed in the "artwork". It's pretty much the same 5 images of the Grinch repeated over and over again. Cindy-Lou appears on two pages with the exact same image on each. And Max appears four times, but has the same two images repeated.
I'll admit the ending was cute, but overall the book was pretty lackluster.
It's a short story about what the Grinch doesn't like about Christmas. This book came with many stickers which was cool and small Christmas cards you can tear out and send out which was also cool.
SPOILER AHEAD:
Although there is one thing the Grinch likes about Christmas and he says that at the end. It was nice that he found one thing he liked about Christmas, but it felt like the story ended abruptly which I didn't like.
Just a movie tie-in to the 2018 The Grinch. It's a book that basically lists all the things the Grinch hates about Christmas. Simple paperback picturebook. It's cute for what it is.
