Meddling townsfolk decide to play matchmaker between a quiet girl and the local blacksmith.
Amelia Fields moved to Ranchester, Wyoming after her fiancé's sudden death. When the town conspires to play matchmaker between her and the local blacksmith, she does her best to ignore it. Unfortunately, the more she gets to know the quiet man, the more intriguing the situation becomes.
All Gerard Cullen wants is to live out his days in quiet solitude. Between his work at the stables and helping out where he can, his life is full. The distraction of a woman whom he seems to run into regularly takes him by surprise. What's worse is that she remains in his thoughts long after each meeting.
****Amelia is part of the Brides For All Seasons world. However, it can be enjoyed as a complete standalone.
Bestselling author Hildie McQueen loves unusual situations and getting into interesting adventures, which is what her characters do as well. She writes romance because she is in love with love! Author of Romance in Highland historical, Western Historical and contemporary, she writes something every reader can enjoy.
Most days she can be found in her pajamas hiding from deliverymen while drinking tea from her David Gandy coffee mug. In the afternoons she browses the Internet for semi-nude men to post on Facebook.
Hildie's favorite past-times are romance conventions, traveling, shopping and reading.
She resides in beautiful small town Georgia with her super-hero husband Kurt, an unruly boy Chihuahua Pepito and a spoiled rotten girl Chiweenie named Lola.
An enjoyable summer read. Amelia and Gerard's shared heartache, helped bring them together.
I just wish that the troublesome bear would have made more than one brief appearance... I mean, why mention a rouge bear roaming the area, and then, never make use of that bit of foreshadowing etc... again?
I picked this book up because I wanted to read something from this author, who first came on my radar at the RT 2017 convention. When this popped up as a Kindle deal, I jumped at the chance to read a non-mail order bride western romance.
Amelia came to Ranchester, WY to stay with her aunt and uncle after the death of her fiancé. The town plots to match her with the town blacksmith, who hasn't done much other than work since the death of his wife and infant son. A quiet book where the romance is based on conversation and working together is what I want in a romance. The humor develops naturally with the growing feelings for each other, but it is a sweet romance with. I also liked the female friendships written here. It had everything I wanted to read the afternoon away. I want to read more from Ms. McQueen.
From best-selling author, Hildie McQueen, comes a breathtaking Western romance with all the perfect ingredients for an instant favorite! This is the latest release in Ms. McQueen's " A Bride for Every Season" series. It's the super sweet story of Amelia Fields, a beautiful young woman who has decided that she will never marry and instead dedicate her life to the care of the less fortunate. Numerous tragedies have left Amelia bereft and introverted... Until she meets the completely dreamy blacksmith with a tragic past of his own. Gerard Cullen is a widower who has shut himself off from the world as punishment for the death of his wife almost five years ago... One moment of his weakness cost him the life of the woman he swore to protect. Tragedy brought these two souls together... Will it tear them apart just as quickly? LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS STORY!!!! Please tell me we get a backstory and a HEA on Clara soon!!!????;!!!
Amelia’s parents died. Shortly after her fiancé died. Her uncle came and helped her pack up her stuff and move west to live with them. Gerard’s wife had died years ago. He was quite unhappy with her. She was mean. He still couldn’t figure out if it was her temperament or because she was so sick. He has decided never to marry again until he meets Amelia. They travel together to deliver some items to friends outside of town. A storm frightened their horse and an accident caused Gerard to be hurt. They were out overnight. By the time her uncle found them they had become friends. Things developed from there.
This is an absolute wonderfully written series. Each story stands alone, but with characters from other books. Just enough to keep it a series without having cliffhangers...
This is Amelia's story. She finds love again after losing her parents and fiance in a short span of time. Finding her true love in the form of Gerard Cullen, the town blacksmith, Amelia learns that tragedies in her past can be laid to rest.
1. Camellias do not grow in Wyoming. Most varieties require zone 7 or above; the vast majority of Wyoming is colder. Camellias require rich, moist, easy draining acidic soil; Wyoming has dry basic soil. Author clearly knows nothing about Wyoming and nothing about camellias, and is too lazy to spend a little time researching.
2. Paper comes in reams, fabric comes on bolts or rolls.
If you want to waste time on garbage do so; there are too many good books by competent authors to waste my timecon this.
Amelia, An Autumn Bride by Hildie McQueen. I just love the bride series by this author. Hildie is an excellent storyteller and it shows in her books. Amelia appears to be destined to be a spinster having lost her fiancé to death. Gerard has also loved and lost to death's cold hand. He never knew true love like what Amelia has to offer. I loved watching these to as their love grew and they learned to let go of the past. Well Done.
This is my favorite of the series so far. I liked it better because the H/h were so much more believable than in most of the other stories. They didn't behave like children, but acted like the responsible adults they were. I liked both of them, and thought they were good for each other. I also liked that they actually spent some time courting before they got married.
Typical of an older Harlequin romance. No actual ending, just an abrupt stop. The characters of the story were all very clinched and one dimensional. What should have taken no more than a couple of hours to read took me two weeks, and I finished the book only because I always try to finish what I start. I don't recommend this book unless you have time to waste, or need a non-chemical sleeping aid.
Amelia. An Autumn Bride. (Brides for all seasons Book 9)
I enjoyed the story very much. But there were so many typo’s In the book it spoiled it for me. Words spelled wrong, words without the last letter. I don’t think that it had a final read before it went to print. It was a very poor script. I am sorry Miss McQueen I usually give you a good review but I am sorry this book is flawed.
This was a good story. I would have given it a higher rating but the writing was so poor I was hard-pressed even to give it 3 stars. Character names and settings were repeatedly mixed up, words were omitted, extra words were inserted that were nonsensical, and grammatical errors were numerous. I would have stopped reading it if I had not already read books by this author which I enjoyed. I definitely would not have read any others if this had been the first I’d read.
Amelia, An Autumn Bride (A Brides For All Seasons Novel)
The love story of Amelia and Gerard. Amelia and Gerard both have great losses. Each day they would never marry. Amelia was afraid of losing the one she loved and Gerard was afraid he would never find someone who would love him. Can two lonely people find happiness with each other? Great story.
I loved the story of Amelia, a determined spinster, and Gerund, a once wound-twice shy blacksmith. Their touching and believable coming together was lovely and well drawn. There’s also setups for at least three other stories I’d like to read, with real secondary characters needing their tales to be told. Sweet but evocative.
This author needs to hire a proofreader or go back to middle-school grammar and punctuation classes. Within the first few pages, we got "quiet" instead of "quite," "then" instead of "than," "it's" instead of "its," "in to" instead of "into," "to" instead of "too," "yard" instead of "yardgoods," and countless comma errors. Ridiculous!! The book cover was really appealing.
I enjoyed the characters and the story. I am a little behind but have read the other Brides for All Seasons books until this one. Mrs. McQueen's stories always keep my attention while putting a smile on my face. The emotions and characters are very real and the stories flow well. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Amelia and Gerald make a cute couple! I have a feeling that starting in the middle of a series left me at a disadvantage, but I still felt like there was a sense of history in their little town. A great quick read!
The story line was sweet, but there were so many errors in the writing that I would have to read it 2-3 X to figure out what was being said. Needed A lot more proof reading.
Very good characters with enough suspense concerning the romantic aspect of the story. I enjoyed going back to the building of the western states and all that people endured.
My first statement involves this needing proofreading. More than one place I found mistakes. Not much to the story. It just seemed like telling about how people lived during that time.
She was an orphan without parents , who had died recently
Adjusting to life without her beloved parents, her fiancé died overnight, unexpectly. But then her kind aunt and uncle moved her to the West. She expected to accept her circumstances and never marry
I've enjoyed this book that the last book in the series. The start of the book to the finish had me sucked in. Love the relationship started and kept going. Also working and leaving the past in the pasta ns moving forward with their lives helped.
The story and characters were very good, however the numerous typos and grammatical errors were very distracting. Hopefully corrections will be made in text.
Sure hope this series continues for some time. So many characters have been introduced and are compelling. This story of putting the last behind was well written.
Much too short. Mostly, everyday type stuff. Even when the mother-in-law moved in, there was no conflict. I just felt that something was lost in the telling.
