An absolute favorite of mine as a child, and my oldest daughter too. This read aloud with my youngest boy and girl was really fun and prompted some good conversations. It has the feel of a Rupert Piper, Sugar Creek Gang, or other 1950s “boy gang” story, with a very well integrated Christian worldview that feels realistic and not at all heavy handed.

Such a fun book for boys. I read this growing up, and then re-read it over and over! If you have a boy, get them this one!

This book is about 4 boys who are very stupid and poor, and they all put together couldn't afford something that cost $1.00, and they were building a club house. They were stupid enough to put it on dirt and just let it sink under ground. And the entrance is on the bottom. This book is not good. It is mostly bad because of the boys' stupidity. Also, some kid couldn't sleep because some friend of his told a slightly offensive joke.

Love this book! All of the characters are very realistic and it is a well told story. An overall absolutely excelent and engaging christian book for all ages and sad to say that you do not find very many of these kinds of books anymore. If you enjoy a good young adult christian fiction, you will not be dissapointed!

It may really be four stars, but I gave it five because of the joy the world of clubhouses and pickle pops brought me as a child, and now my seven-year-old girl and four-year-old boy share that joy as well!
