Stanley and his friends go on an adventure through a cave and along the way they think they see cave monsters. However, there was no monster at all, just their shadows and the shadows of other friendly animals.
I like how this story addresses fears of many children; the dark and monsters. I believe stories like this give hope to kids that their perception of these fears isn’t reality. Also, I like how Stanley takes his adventure with his friends to show unity and support.
From an illustration standpoint, Stanley’s scales appear to be a foil, metallic orange. By differentiating him like this it really helps emphasize to the students how he is bright! The other illustrations throughout the story are very colorful and engaging for the students also. This book allows the teacher to help push kids imaginations as to what is truly behind the shadows!

A good book that helps to teach us not to be afraid of mere shadows and that everything is not as it appears. Good illustrations and a simple narrative that is good for young readers.

Bright Stanley and the Cave Monster gently tells young readers that you must face your fears to rid yourself from it...the fear itself may not be as bad as you think.
