I enjoyed this book. The history regarding the black nurses and pilots was interesting. Also, the civil rights movement and the NAACP lawyers activities wound throughout made for a good read.

Wild Embers by Anita R Bunkley (1996)
“It is the nature of war to test man’s tolerance and determine exactly who he is. It’s the soldier’s burden to bear up to the test and carry out his orders. The way is tangled and steep — who helps me along this treacherous path? Not my family, not my fellow soldiers, not my enemy, not even my country. I have no one fighting for me. I applaud those who will reach their destinations in pride, but I fear I have lost my way.” (page440)

Loved this book. Fell onto this author's work by accident and loved this book. I which some would make it a movie. This is the style I like for her best.
